Main Street both feels & looks like a home turned into a bakery, it also smelled delicious inside. The staff were super friendly and welcoming. They greeted us within seconds and also gave lots of great recommendations for shops/restaurants around town. This was my first time having quiche and Chef Chuck did not disappoint. The bread pudding was also amazing! Not normally a fan of raisins in baked goods but was still tasty. We ended up coming back Saturday morning for the cinnamon rolls and really glad we did. They were fluffy and delicious but not too sweet. Highly recommend stopping by if you have a chance.

I stumbled upon this place somewhat randomly after detouring various ways through rural Virginia,…read moreand this town which I wasn't familiar with is a vibe. In addition to this old-timey frozen custard stand, there was a nearby Civil War park and confederate cemetery, a church next to a cornfield, and I passed an old junker of a car nearby with a sign saying that it had no airbags so the inhabitants could "die like men". If you're coming from DC as I am, this is a different world. And in that vein, I'm always a little mixed on frozen custard as I don't do a lot of eggs and the flavors are often limited. This place offers items outside of custard, but nothing that I'd want. But I chose to stop here so I'm going to rate the place. Having said that, I found that they offered a seasonal pumpkin flavor which could be ordered as a swirl, and doing that got me as good of a flavor as I could have hoped for. In addition to a subtle pumpkin note, it was thick and rich, and the price for the portion will suit a hungry traveler or a local. And you can eat outside with a view of some farmland and mountains nearby. It's not far from the highway, so potentially worth considering for many who travel through the area. I don't have much in common with the locals who were eating beside me, but we can all enjoy a good ice cream.

They offer local drinks, preserves, jams, desserts of all sorts, and homemade sauces. Honestly, it was really hard to choose something to try. The owners spent a few minutes with us goin over their menu and everything looked SO good. We settled on the Strawberry Shortcake and the owner's own concoction the Nutty Professor. The short cake was ALL homemade (the sauce, whipped cream, and sponge cake). The cake was very light and refreshing and not too sweet. This was HANDS down the best Strawberry shortcake I've ever had. We ate the entire thing in the car. The nutty professor is very unique and SO good. It's very rich but is a cross between a peanut cup and a snickers combined. It's very good but only take a couple of bites at a time We will definitely be back if we are ever in the area. A must try if you're local or visiting!

She LOVES Key Lime pie so each year I try to get her a pie from a new/different local bakery, whether at home or traveling. Pick-up was a breeze at the local supermarket and the pie was the BEST my wife said she ever had. I can't thank you enough for helping her have a great birthday and making such a great pie. Then my Bride said "last time I was in Harrisonburg, there was this great gelato place right around here..." And it still is! The storefront is clean, bright, and smells amazing. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the gelato is fantastic. I got a double with the Bourbon Toffee Espresso and Chocolate Hazelnut. Bride got Toasted Almond Coconut sorbetto and Brown Butter Cookie dough gelato. Of course, we both tasted each other's, and they were all amazing. Doubles are $5.35 each (add $1.50 for a homemade waffle cone, which we skipped). Total was about $12 before tip, which makes it cheaper than a lot of the chain places, and all of their stuff (including a bewildering array of REALLY amazing looking baked goods) are made in-house. Might have to swing back and try a couple of those croissants for breakfast...

They make their own ice cream in house! And waffle cones! And there's a covered porch out front, because if you're not going to walk around with your ice cream for window shopping, you can always pull up a milk jug seat at a table made of encased sprinkles. We were able to sample a few flavors - generous spoonfuls, I might add - before settling on a Nana's Puddin bowl and Butterfinger in a cake cone. Those single scoops were not even close to being small! Some playful banter with the staff brought a genuine smile to my face. If you're a Bigfoot fan, you might like to grab a tshirt, sticker or magnet before you head out.
