    Blueberry donut
    Dani P.

The blueberry donut was very tasty. It was huge and the texture more bread-like than cake-like - dense enough to be filling, but still fluffy. The donut is well balanced in that I can actually taste the blueberries and yeasty tang. The glaze adds just a touch of sweetness that goes well with the real blueberries. Highly recommended! Fingers crossed that they bring their truck up to the Northern Virginia area soon!

If you truly want the best homemade donuts you can find, come here! I searched for days on end trying to find the best homemade donuts near me because we all get sick of the corporate donuts, right? Anyways, I bought 6 glazed donuts & I cannot exaggerate enough on how delicious and fluffy they were. Absolutely phenomenal! If you're ever in the area, you HAVE to try Strites Donuts!

    The silver bullet

There's no crazy-imaginative, over-the-top concoctions like you may find at Voodoo Doughnut or even Doughnut Plant- of course Woodstock VA, is not Portland or NYC. So It probably isn't fair to compare, however- I will compare the quality and taste; it is absolutely on par with those renowned establishments. Plus, the line is smaller, as is the price tag. The only problem with Strites, is that it's as elusive as a Leprechauns gold at the end of a rainbow, and as mythical as a Unicorn. But if you happen to stumble upon it, the rewards are equivalent. The Strites Donut trailer (#2) is located at this Woodstock location every Monday (weather permitting). It's best to check the websites event page to see their location schedule. There's also a permanent location in Harrisonburg. Donuts are $1.05 each, about $5 for half-dozen, and $10 for a dozen. Personally, the apple-filled (when/if they have it) is my favorite and worth the extra 20 cents per doughnut. Their dougnuts are always super-fresh and incredibly delicious. If you see thei silver trailer parked somewhere, it's best you pull over and sample their goods; and I mean GOODS!

    A dozen Strites donuts.

Delicious homemade donuts. Much different than a Krispie Kreme. Heavier and bigger. It's definitely a meal in itself. I had the glazed from an Exxon in VA and we stopped in Harrisonburg to pu a full dozen. I can't wait to try them all. The box is quite heavy.

Delicious!! This picture doesn't do justice at how amazing they are!!!

If there is a business I am on the search for more than ones coffee-related, it is those of the…read morepastry orientation. And especially ones with doughnuts. Glazed, cake, stuffed, seasonal; I want them all! And I will likely order them all. So by proxy I have a mental list of such establishments that I keep a eye out for (most recently, Voodoo Doughnuts) and Duck Doughnuts is one of them. Little did I know, until just a week ago, that there is a location in Winchester. The morning of my visit could not have been more perfect for a first timer. Rain was drizzling, but not heavy. The sky was overcast. The temps were low, but not frigid. And that Shenandoah Valley wind was just the right amount of chilling. I went in with high expectations. Here's what happened. I began to peruse the menu and soon realized that I would be making many a visit before obtaining a full understanding of all they have to offer. So I settled on the blueberry pancake and the holiday sprinkle (seasonal) with a cup of coffee (only $5.99). What I then learned is that each doughnut is 1) a cake doughnut (just for those who favor/don't favor this type of doughnut), 2) is made to order (as in the toppings and/or stuffing), and 3) they all come out warm! The coffee is a medium roast, but on the darker side. Just a FYI. I sat down at the window bench and looked out on the dismay day that was about to get exponentially better. The doughnuts, for the short period of time they lasted, were a work of art (be sure to check out my photos). They paired well with the coffee and left me wishing I had made the bigger commitment of ordering half a dozen. But there will be more visits in the future. Until then, I recommend you stop in to pick up a few (or more) and know that you can also order ahead of time (via online).

So thankful to have a donut shop that makes a hot and fresh donut to order!…read more My family and I have been here a few times already. We've placed our order at register, through the app, and on their digital screen where you can bypass the line (and get reward points for the app)! The app is definitely the easiest. My go to donut is peanut butter glaze, bacon and marshmallow drizzle. My wife and I just discovered the donut breakfast sandwich. GAME CHANGER!!! The staff and owners have been very welcoming and personal. The inside is very clean, and we thoroughly enjoy the openness where the boys enjoy watching the workers make the donuts. We look forward to continuing to support Duck Donuts and their delicious donuts!

The ones I tried were the yeast type of donut and had a terrific consistency being soft and not too dense. Also tried an apple fritter that was almost twice as large as the donuts. The highlight were the croissant donuts. They were layers of buttery, flaky dough in a square format. I've tried the ones from Dominic Ansel when the cronut was at its peak and I prefer the Freddy version. I found the ones with the drizzle on them to be better. If you can't commit to a whole cronut you can get cronut bites for 25 cents each!

Being from New York the…read morecronut is a staple- Freddy's got them beat in every way- the cronut itself is super light and crisp. The flakey buttery layers is heaven. The size of the cronut is huge compared to the Dominique Ansel one. Freddy's is the size of your hand where the other is a quarter size smaller. The cronut at Freddy's is also cheaper going at $4.25 versus $7.75 at Dominique Ansel. They come in glaze drizzle, chocolate and vanilla drizzle, maple drizzle and French toast. Cronuts not available or don't feel like a big cronut...ask if they have the cronut bites. They come in a set of three and you can get either glaze drizzle or cinnamon sugar. The size of their classic and specialty donuts are huge. We are talking easily can be sharable (if you want to). Currently the pricing of their donuts are: $1.95 house/ $2.75 specialty/$2.75 cake/ $3.25 monster filled. They have quite the creative list of flavors. No gluten free options though. Their donuts are light and flavorful. It's not overly sweet at all and well balanced. By their size you get your bang for your buck. If you want to get your choosing of flavors, it's better to go at the start of the day. Later in the day you chance that they could be sold out on flavors - especially if they are busy that day. The donuts are packed in whimsical boxes that are colorful and say "You Deserve A Donut." They also have drinks for purchase but we didn't grab any- maybe next time. On the wall they also have cute donut themed shirts with popular cartoons and characters like Bluey, Pikachu and Deadpool. There is limited parking around the shop. Otherwise plenty of street parking. We took our donuts to go but you can also dine there in front of the store where they have picnic tables. The building looks like it might have been a service gas station in the past. It's decorated with a snake mural and they also have neat drawings inside on their chalkboard menu. We will definitely be back since we have friends that live in the next town over who are also huge fan. 100% recommend this sweet place.
