We were getting our house ready for sale when an inspector told us we had a small gas leak in the basement. This was at about 5 pm on a Friday. I called Freeflow because I saw their van in the driveway of a really picky neighbor who vets her contractors well. I figure if that woman was using Freeflow it was probably a good company. I called Freeflow and spoke to John. I told him the problem and that I hope he could come out right away. He said he could be there that evening. I was so relieved. Then John called again and said he could come out within a half hour if that worked for me. Great! He was there in an half hour, figured out the problem, and called for a guy to come bring him the right part. No waiting for Freeflow to get a part, no big fee for being an emergency call, just straight-up good customer service. A grave concern became a non-issue in about 90 minutes. Since it was an emergency we didn't get quotes. We just called Freeflow and were very happy with the service. So of course, we called John at Freeflow again once we moved into our new house. It was a foreclosure that Fannie Mae bought and "fixed" up. It had been vacant for over a year. John went through and fixed the mess Bathfitters made in installing the shower/bath combo, cleared the clogs in two upstairs drains, installed a new garbage disposal, and connected our water line to the new fridge. These were all separate visits since the troubles came over the course of 2 months as we lived in the house. John was very accomodating of our schedules. His quotes were always on or close to the actual cost. If there was a deviation it was explained, and since we paid in cash we got a discount. Now we plan to install a jetted tub in the master bath, and a half bath in the basement. So we will be calling John at Freeflow Plumbing confident we'll be getting good work for a fair price. read more

On Christmas eve a frozen pipe leaked and John took care of it promptly, efficiently, and at an affordable price. He was friendly, and professional, and worked in a very clean manner. He took the time to show me what the problem was and how to take preventive measures to avoid it happening again. The worst!!! He had installed a cleanout on my main, cast iron stack. Right after his "work" was completed all the toilets connected to that stack above his work, had heavy leaks, none of which were there before. I've been informed, this is a result of when someone cuts into the main stack not supporting it properly, thus creating the whole stack to shift (lower) and loosen the connections of all the toilets/fixtures above. I requested a meeting with John and he reluctantly showed up, after telling me he wanted to make things right. He then proceeded to tell me that those leaks were there, before he commenced his work and that they were not his fault, which makes no sense because I've owned the property for 15 years and the ceiling and walls connected to those areas would have been wet and/or discolored. He got very defensive and left quickly, then told me if "you aren't satisfied" call his lawyer. Not, "let me make this right". Being a fellow contractor in the same city as John, for the past 15 years, I have learned over the years that things can go wrong at times, during those times it is an opportunity to shine and go above and beyond to make the customer happy. This isn't the philosophy at Free Flow Plumbing. Not only were his rates are outrageous, the quality of work was beyond poor. He left the job site a mess, leaving the waste pipes, he cut out there at my property, along with dirt he tracked throughout the home. He had to cut out 2 boards to get access to the area and instead of re-installing them, he just left them on the basement floor. Being a contractor I talk to a lot of plumbers and I mentioned this job to them and it was a consensus that John consistently does poor work, and if there's ever an issue he will leave you high and dry and direct you to his lawyer. Stay away from this company! I cannot stress this enough. read more

Free Flow Plumbing replaced my hot water heater earlier this year. In transporting the new/old hot water heater to and from the basement, they dragged the dolly with no cushion up/down the stairs, cracking nearly every stair - most in 2 places. They also left a huge mess of mud, snow, and water leaked from the hot water heater, all the way down the stairs and into the basement and did not even attempt to clean it up. They reluctantly agreed to pay to fix the stairs, but when multiple companies indicated that the stair flooring cannot be repaired and needs to be replaced, Free Flow said they will not pay for the replacement. I agreed to have a contractor of their choosing come out for another opinion. This contractor also told me it looks like the stair flooring has to be replaced, but said he would look into it and get back to me within a couple days. It has now been 2 months and he hasn't given me any feedback, and stopped responding at all about 7 weeks ago. I asked Free Flow to help have this guy get in touch with me and Free Flow told me I need to just wait and be patient. I have waited for two months, and Free Flow refuses to tell me how to handle billing them so I can finally get the flooring replaced. I tried giving them a specific date cut off so they could talk to the contractor and get some updates, but Free Flow refused to respond. read more

Wow, so impressed. I called super late morning, and John and his assistant came out **same day** (though of course this may not always be possible depending on the day) to snake a very clogged shower drain in an old Cleveland Heights house with badly configured plumbing. Price was very fair. He was fast, efficient, and clearly knows what he's talking about. We have already scheduled a date to have him back to fix some other nagging issues that we let go because we didn't feel comfortable with what other people had told us - John just made sense!
