There are some places that make you just feel good and this is one! Miss Regina and Florence have brought a piece of them to the place and I always appreciate seeing them when I go! Not only do they have incredible food, but prices are good! Service is always quick and punctual amongst sitting. Wednesdays, kids eat free. They must be under 12 and accompanied with an adult. Daily, there is an happy hour 3-5 where a drink is included. Don't forget to sign up for the rewards program. Also, if you're military- must show your ID to get discount. read more

I could do without it. The cat fish was okay just needed some seasoning. The fried green tomatoes were really good. Everything was just okay. I'll be going back but for breakfast next time. read more

Fred's is a unique concept, it's so good to see small business buffets. Our friends raved about this place so we were excited to try. It's got a country decor, the place was packed, we waited for a while to be seated. The pricing is fair. The service was good, buffet service doesn't require too much. The food is just okay. If you know about true soul food and know how to season your food or cook well, it's just okay. It's not bad by any means, but it's just not delicious, it's not flavorful. It's somewhat bland and just decent. read more

So I am NOT a buffet person. My friend talked me into going to Fred's and I'm so glad I went. The buffet was clean! Gloves are at the buffet station. The food was hot, fresh and delicious! They are consistently bringing in clean plates, wiping down the stations and replenishing the food. Did I mention that the peach cobbler and bread pudding are also incredible! read more

We came before and it was amazing. It was just okay today. If you like the fried chicken breast you will be in luck but if you like the leg, they barely make any. People were like vultures picking the very few legs they put out. The mac was old and dried out. The sweet potato casserole never did get refilled. They hide the to-go lids until they inspect your dish. The tables are wiped off but they don't wipe the seats, leaving you to sit on crumbs. For the high price, I think I'll pass. It was good while it lasted. read more

Food was good, our server Malaysia T was very nice and attentive. Overall, everyone was super friendly and welcoming. Would come again.

It's a Southern Buffet. This is the exception to my statement"I don't do buffets" It's clean, well attended, nice selection of salads, sides, and entrees. I like the fried chicken and servers are pleasant. A much better deal in my opinion than any fast food joint. If you have the time pay them a visit. The retired chef guy read more

Country cookin' at its finest! Don't go to Fred's if you're on a diet or not hungry. This place is like a hug from your Mamaw. They have fried chicken all day long! The staff has that southern charm that keeps you smilin' and your drinks full. I get the 1-trip blue plate for breakfast piled high with biscuits & gravy, bacon, grits, tomatoes & homestyle potatoes; topped off with a side of peach cobbler. Their peach cobbler is the best I've ever eaten (sorry Granny B). This place usually has a line but you can sit outside in their rocking chairs and chat with your neighbors while you wait. We take all of our outta-town guests here and they always ask to go back! read more

We had the dinner buffet. Fried chicken, creole shrimp, and pot roast were the main meal offerings tonight. Sides included mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, fried okra, corn casserole, corn bread, sweet rolls, cheese biscuits, mac & cheese, rutabaga, fried fish... desserts included fresh strawberry shortcake, bread pudding, banana pudding, pecan pie, apple pie, Italian wedding cake, brownie sundae, cobbler, assorted ice creams... Everything was SO GOOD!! Hot food was hot, in huge pots that were refilled quickly as they were eaten. Fried chicken was tender, juicy and flavorful. The food was just really great. The staff was hustling and were super friendly, and the wait at 5pm on a Saturday night really wasn't bad at all. Restaurant busy but clean. Will definitely return! read more

Always love a good Fred's trip! Friendly staff, good size restaurant so minimal wait time. Food is always fresh and delicious.

This place is literally everything comfort food, southern food!! Great host and the hostess was even friendlier her name was Christina. My family and I went for lunch. The food is fresh, it was good and there was definitely a variety. Everything from Fried Chicken to Pulled Pork, Sweet Potato Casserole to Mash Potatoes and Gravy, Collard Greens to Fried Squash. The list really can go on. There's even a variety of cold salads and pasta. This is buffet style but they do keep it clean from what I saw even the area around the buffet. read more

Yeah, all chain buffets need to just relocate out at at least 30-45mins away. This place is legit! A nice surprise and I only went for breakfast!!...On the way out, they were setting up lunch/dinner...whew!! I WILL BE BACK! read more

I have mixed experiences here. The food is wonderful so it is always busy. And I do mean ALWAYS! The last time I went, the electricity shut off so they weren't able to take card payments. They told everyone to either pay in cash or wait in there for the electricity to come back on. It had already been an hour with no lights by that point. I felt that was a very unrealistic and obnoxious thing to ask people to do. Luckily a nice person next to me had cash and they kindly paid for my meal. The restaurant is soul food buffet style. There aren't many restaurants like this read more

I miss good country cooking and this was it. I ended up just eating veggies minus chicken pot but husband loved the fired fish and trout and ribs. Being from the South, I have to have a fix of southern cooked vegetables and mom style fried chicken every so often. Hasn't been easy to find a good place that fits the bill in Central Florida, until we discovered Freds while visiting our kids. We now have a go to that offers a large selection of fresh vegetables, southern fried chicken, Georgia sweet tea, and if you have room, some really good desserts to choose from. If you aren't about to pop when you leave here, it's your own fault !! read more

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the buffet. The scrambled eggs were light and fluffy. Delicious. The potatoes, I tried home fries, hash browns, and cheesey hash brown casserole. Not a buffet fan, but quality and taste of food changed my mind concerning this restaurant. Enjoyed meal.

I was in Tampa for a Women's conference and a friend recommended this place, and our group of 12 loved it! Real comfort food, southern cooking. You can't get this in South Florida. And it was a buffet! The bbq pork, fried chicken were so good. But I was surprised how the veggies were tasty as well. We came here 2 days in a row since the foodwas so good. If I come back to Tampa, this is a definite stop! read more

I've been eyeing this place for such a long time, came prepared by reading all the recent reviews by yelpers and called the restaurant to get the 411 on what times/days to visit this place. The restaurant is located in Riverview, this is the 4th location in Florida. The very first Fred's Market is in Plant City. There's plenty of parking available in the front and side of the restaurant. Seating inside consist of tables and booths. Staff were super sweet and courteous, over server was so nice. I wish i remembered her name. First of all, there was so much food. Salad bar, hot bar and dessert bar. Salad bar was amazing, very fresh, loved the make-it-yourself concept. Hot bar had all the main components of a Southern restaurant.. fried chicken, catfish, ribs, rainbow trout, collard greens, black-eyed peas, chicken pot pie, corn casserole, fried green tomatoes, Mac n cheese, cheddar biscuits, sweet potato casserole and much much more. So yes, there was a lot of main entrees but nothing grabbed my attention. Fried chicken was crispy but lacked seasoning (my friend thinks my taste buds must be burned off from all the spicy Indian food I eat lol) and ribs were so salty. For dessert.. there was pecan pie, peach cobbler, brownie, bread pudding, strawberry shortcake, banana pudding and 5 different kinds of ice cream. I opted for the classic brownie-a-la-mode. Very good! Overall, there was a lot of food with a small price of $11.87 for lunch but I prefer quality over quantity. read more

Fred's is always a favorite. I haven't been here in a while and all I can say is that you need to come check it out. You won't regret it at all. Although the prices have gone up, they're still fairly affordable. I enjoyed every bit of the food and definitely will be back in the near future. I certainly can't eat as much as I used to, but was able to make a small dent. Our server was great and staff and management were all very accommodating. The environment is laid back and great for families, friends, and anyone else looking for a variety of food options. The ribs were my favorite food item tonight. Also did a to go food order which was affordable. I was able to put a sampling of food in the container which I loved. read more

Visited 8/15/24 @ 6:20 PM I originally visited this place about 7 years ago and to be honest I thought I had died and gone to Food heaven. I even wrote a review on Yelp given it a 10 out of 10 rating. Sadly, like everything else in this country it has gone to s**t. Sorry for my not so dignified terminology. How sad, something that was so good a couple years ago is just so bad today. Even the fried chicken I RAVED about in my initial review is now soggy and lacking in taste. My 2 star Yelp rating is based solely on the food and is in no way attributed to the host and waiting staff who are wonderful. I have no more words. read more

The food is so good at this buffet, it's hard to stop eating even after you think you're already full. My favorite items here are the fried chicken, ribs, apple pie. Most of the items are the same for dinner and lunch except for ribs (only for dinner), and pot roast and lasagna they have only for lunch. Plenty of food options on the main buffet table, there's also a salad bar area. They dessert station has someone serving you, otherwise the rest of the buffett and salad bar is self serve. You must wash your hands at the large sink before being seated. They have plastic gloves to use at the start of the buffet line, which I've noticed is used way more often with the lunchtime crowd and barely used for the dinner crowd. Payment is at the front register after you get the check from the waitress at the end of the meal. This caused some confusion the first time we came because the waitress wouldn't get the credit card that we put down on the table, finally we told here we were ready to pay and she said we have to go to front to pay on the way out. read more

Happened to be in the area. This was a pleasant surprise! The wait was insane! I knew it was going to be good. 50-55 people were ahead of us and our wait was only 40 minutes.
