Had a factory defective product and the manufacturer wanted to cut a check for the purchase price, but a year later the replacement went up significantly and he stepped up to make sure I got a replacement delivered and added one year warranty Without me opening up my wallet. Not your ordinary commissioned salesman. He also arranged to deliver and pick up my wrapped refrigerator doors along with making sure the wrap company could color match the other appliances. We bought all of our kitchen appliances here for a new build. Our dishwasher ended up causing us some problems, but Tom was very responsive to our concerns, sent technicians to our home, and eventually exchanged the malfunctioning unit for a new one. Steve was also very helpful in helping us decide if we should continue with the same make and model of dishwasher, or continue with the brand we had originally ordered. We have been very happy with the new unit, and overall happy with the service we received. Recommend! read more

Bought a new washer and dryer. I have bought thousands of dollars of appliances from this place. I will never walk in that store again. I called for service. My dryer is not drying. They told me it would be three weeks on the day of my appointment. Nobody called finally I called them, they called me back late in the afternoon after I changed my whole day and waited and told me they couldn't make it out and they would rebook. They called a day later and told me it would be three more weeks. I was not happy. I told him I wasn't happy then the manager called! Now there's somebody that needs to get a new job. He blamed all of their problems on Mike White Ford for not getting their truck repaired in time and it shut down their whole business! Told me he was tired of getting yelled at from people. It wasn't his fault. I suggested he get a new job. I suggest no one purchases any appliances or anything from Fred's appliance in Coeur d'Alene or Spokane for all that matters that's where their service department is out of and it's a complete joke. The lady told me they serve Coeur d'Alene Spokane all the way to Montana Save yourself the grief he then suggested I called the manufacturer. He told me they would give me better service.! So on 9/2 they called and said repairman out sick so earliest they could come was 9/23. Spent $500 for service contract. Two months without ice or water in anew machine redeculess!! Told us they would send someone out and scheduled us for 6 months out!! We had to fix it ourselves and have replaced the dryer belt 5 times now because it keeps breaking. We called Fred's Appliance three months ago because our fridge stopped dispensing water and making ice. A technician came out and said he needed to order parts. We called regularly to see if the parts were in and were told there was a shortage and they were on back order. They finally scheduled a technician to come out, only to tell us a few days later that not all of the parts had been ordered (three months later). We fired them and called Pillar Heating & Air who came out within a few days and diagnosed and fixed the problem the same day. Don't use Fred's! Call Pillar for all of your heating, air conditioning, and appliance needs. read more

We have enjoyed the products we have purchased from Fred's, however the warranty and service has been poor. Initial appointment was 2 weeks out to fix my washer, they came out looked at it and said it needs a new part which would take 2 weeks to arrive and they would call to set up a time when the part came in. I had to call and find out the part had arrived and they put me on the schedule, again 2 weeks out. This morning after my wife took time off of work to be home they called and said they ordered the wrong part and would have to wait 2 weeks for the right one to come in. I told the customer service rep this wasn't going to work for me and I need a better solution and requested to speak to a supervisor. I was told the supervisor would give me a call shortly and here I am at the end of the day left with frustration. I'm sure that someone will reply to this to save face for the company but I highly doubt they will do anything to resolve the grievance. Save your money and don't buy the warranty or go else where, not worth the headache or cost incurred from lack of service. read more

I've never written a review before on Yelp. My experience with Fred's thus far has driven me to do so. First of all - you will have a great experience buying from Fred's. Their salespeople are helpful and delivery should be nice and quick. It was in our case. Once you invariably have do deal with their service department: prepare for a decent into the abyss. We bought an oven from them that broke after only a couple uses. We called them they sent out a tech about a month later. The tech was pleasant but unable to repair the oven, he didn't have the correct parts with him. They then scheduled a second call about a month and a half later with the parts the supposedly needed. They replaced them all, but the oven was not fixed. We've now had our third repair call scheduled. It is July 1st right now - and the earliest they could schedule our appointment was for mid August. Who knows if they will be able to repair it. In the meantime we'll have been out of an oven for almost half a year. Their phone people seem deftly trained to schedule you for service months later with the efficiency and care of a Soviet bureaucrat. You're surprised - you thought you wouldn't have to wait months for your oven to be fixed? Well we're busy - get in line peasant! Fred should obviously stop selling service warranties if they cannot handle their current service volume, but I won't hold my breath. You'll likely have a more satisfying experience buying an oven off craigslist from the back of a pickup truck. At least then you'll know what to expect. In all fairness: I was stupid. I didn't read the copious Yelp reviews warning me against this exact problem. Hopefully this saves at least one person from making my mistake. read more

We just finished building a new house. We used Fred's Appliance and bought nice appliances - mostly Thermador. On day 3 after we moved in, an Ice maker stopped working. We called Fred's multiple times. It took 3 days to get a call back. This was the first week of June. They said they could not get anyone out until the end of August - 8 weeks later. We tried calling again, hoping to talk to a manager. After multiple calls, we were assured that a manager would call us back within 1 day. After 2 weeks, no call. Well. My love affair with Fred's Appliance is over. I'm a diehard believer in buying local and Fred's has been our go-to for appliances. One of our latest purchases was a LQ washer/dryer combo, the one that holds detergent and softener so you don't have to measure and pour each time you throw in a load. Heaven. Until it stopped dispensing softener shortly after receiving it. Called Fred's for service confident they'd fix her for me. Two months later a technician came out and immediately knew what the problem was. He assured me he would get the part ordered. After waiting for literally months a repair technician came out and replaced the laundry detergent side. Yeah...‍ Another appointment was made for Fred's to come out to replace the correct part. We are now at 8+months, 3 service calls (3 days taken off of work so WE can be available for the repairman to NOT repair our washer) wrong parts ordered, no repairs have been made. WE ARE NOW AT 8 MONTHS!!! Calling service has been an absolute joke. You literally cannot get a straight answer from that department. We are now waiting for service to call us to schedule a 4th appointment for us to take off work so they can maybe fix our washer. 4th time is a charm, right? So here we are...just waiting...because service can't give us any information as to when/what parts is/are being ordered, how long it will take to receive the parts, when they'll be able to come back out (more months?) and if they can actually fix our washer. The ordered part was delivered the following week & in stalled in garage but could not test until Fred's Appliance J&J service Teck teams transferred back to wash room 2 days later. Terrible I've bought all my appliances and this is the worst. A year and a half ago bought a whirlpool refrigerator and it recently died. I lost all my food I called Fred's and they tell me it's over a year we say on the Manuel it says two-five year ware. They tell me they can send someone out in a month. What the heck you can't be without a refrigerator for a month. Horrible service and will never buy from them again. They have done me wrong. Our refrigerator stopped working during the night, I called Fred's in the morning to see about getting a repair person out to see if it was repairable. I was told that the person that handles my area stepped out for a few minutes and that I would get a call back in a little bit (that was two days ago) and I am still waiting on the call. I was sent an email from the person that I spoke with over the phone and sent numerous emails back asking about getting an appointment and still no answer there yet either. I feel as though they are ghosting me. I ended up calling another repair guy out who took care of my issue. So what's going on at Fred's that's causing their employees to intentionally avoid accountability from the get go? This isn't good. Disappointing as I'm a local repeat customer and I've been in the store before and purchased other appliances which went very well. I attempted to return and continue to shop local but unfortunately they have become uninterested in providing personal service to the point that they don't even want you to know who you're talking to. The employees don't want the responsibility. My recommendation is to never call at 9am on a slow rainy Wednesday mid-May because a female may answer the phone after you've already selected "sales" and just say "Fred's Appliance" and when you say in a confused voice that you're looking for sales, she just replies "this is sales". Well nice to know you don't really want to be in small business customer SERVICE! I can get an aloof greeting at a big box store. Are you going to help me or are you just answering the phone? We bought a Thermidor dishwasher last October. On May 27, it quit draining and gave us an error message. We called the service department and were told it would be more than 75 days before a repair person would be available. I asked to have a the service manager call me. That was 10 days ago. I'm still waiting. It is still under manufacturer warranty but we also bought an extended warranty. I don't know how a company stays in business with this type of follow up service. Actually it should be called non-service. Our neighbors were getting ready to drive to the store today and we shared our experience with them. They are now shopping elsewhere I recommend you do as well... or get it in writing service calls would take no more than 5 days. I'm not sure even that would help. read more

Just had a Maytag microwave serviced. This was the second call out of $120.00. The first time they looked at it and said they would come back in about 6 weeks with the part for another service call. Well today the put in a part that had gone bad but under warranty. They argued that it was not covered but I showed the technician by using the warranty book that it was covered. Well then he changed the service call to be $122.00 plus he charged an extra fee for his time, plus and extra fee for opening the microwave to replace the part. He called it a removal fee. Well, he tacked on these charges probably because he found out his company was not getting any money from me for the warranty part. Well i just felt this was totally dishonest. Microwave has dent inside and scratch on door upon receipt. Still waiting on this..... horrible customer service. So they get a 1. Willing to adjust the rating if they replace the defective products, but the customer service is poor. Will update accordingly. 6/25/18 Update: Finally got a call from Tom at the Coeur d' Alene store. Once he stepped in, we received the customer service we expected. We received a brand new refrigerator and microwave. Tom communicated with me until the issue was resolved. For that, I will change my rating to a 4 because we received the products (and customer service) we expected in the first place. My strong suggestion is they retrain their Service Department on proper phone etiquette, communication, and TIMELY follow-up with their customers. read more

Scheduled #3 appointment today and SURPRISE...RECEIVED ANOTHER CANCELLATION CALL. Cancellation made several hours AFTER SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT TIME! I'll never purchase ANYTHING from Fred's Appliance again! The extended warrantIes are super expensive and good luck getting your appliances repaired! FYI discounts/store sales are NOT available on high end built ins (Thermidor, Sub Zero, Wolfe, Asko, Viking etc) All stores must sell for same price...Price set by manufacturer! How does a company, which provides enthusiastic sales people eager to "earn" your business, and yet zero after-sale service, stay in business? By ensuring the only qualification for a job in the service department is a degree in the arts of avoidance and misdirection. A graduate of Hogwart's can hardly do better. It came to me in a flash recently, while undergoing a one-month old service department interaction, that the only training class freds holds, is on how to screen calls when wanting to talk with senior management about the problem, and on how to give incorrect information regarding a parts order to keep the customer at bay, while the company's continuing service-side ineptness and inefficiency runs rampant, clearly by design. What freds fails to understand is that there are competitors for the same products. Competitors who will offer the same, if not better pricing, and which certainly could not possibly offer worse after-sale service. I urge the reader to disregard the small number of "5-star" reviews, and trust the many one-stars. They are th Had we taken the time to read said reviews, we would have purchased our appliances from Ferguson, BestBuy or Costco. When having service on an appliance performed, and parts ordered, do not take it on faith that the parts have been ordered. Do yourself a favor, and call the appliance manufacturer's parts department to see if an order has even been placed, especially if you have repeatedly told that the parts are on back order. WARNING! Do not buy from Fred's appliance. If I could give zero stars I would. They are the absolute worst appliance dealer I have ever dealt with. We got stuck with them since our new home came with appliances bought from them by the builder for our new home. If something goes wrong with your appliance, dealing with their service department is an absolute nightmare. First incident. The igniter for our Bosch oven went out and it was replaced. It went out again and we confirmed with Bosch that when you replace a part the warranty on the part resets to another year. The part got replace but they were going to charge us. When I mentioned to the service technician that the part was still covered under warranty he said he had never heard anything about that. I told him that this came directly from Bosch. He proceeded to get very upset and ended up storming from the house telling me to F*** off. I called Fred's to complain about his behavior requesting the service manager call me back, big surprise, I never heard anything back. I get the sense that the service department consider their customers as enemies. Second incident. Our Bosch microwave went out in November of 2020. We got a work order from Bosch approving the warranty service. When it came to trying to get someone from Fred's to come out they kept blaming COVID for the unavailability of parts. This went on through May 2021. We always had to call them and even if they said they would call back, they never did. 6 months and still no satisfaction from Fred's! We had to get another microwave to use during this time. We resolved that if we could not get any service we would buy new appliances from someone else just to avoid dealing with this incompetent company. We finally called Bosch to see if some other appliance repair shop could do the work and we got someone out a few days later! This shows that Fred's appliance are bunch of liars. Never again will I consider buying from Fred's. You have been warned. read more

We just had a new dishwasher installed - what a disappointing experience. We purchased the dishwasher last Friday. In kind of a rush because we have a houseful of guests due on Thursday. Nonetheless, we had researched and knew what we wanted - Bosch, 500 series, smudge free stainless steel. Worked with Chris in the CDA store, who told us that it was a tight deadline to get things installed by Thursday but he'd try to see if the installer could get to it in time. I knew that if it came to it I could install so we went to the warehouse in Spokane to get the unit. As we returned to Idaho We called Chris to check on installation and were told that the installer would call us on Monday morning - we were the first install on his list. By noon on Monday, with no call yet, we called the CDA store. After 2 voicemails with no response I will admit I got pretty heated with the 3rd but I finally got a call back at 3:30 from Chris who basically blamed it on the installer. About 1/2 hour later Chris called and said the installer would do it before the end of the day - again we should expect a call from installer - Jeremy. He finally called at 5:00 and said he could be at our house in 11/2 hours. He clearly wanted to wait and we said we could do it the next day, but could not wait until Thursday which was his next available slot. He showed up at 6:15 - I had already removed the existing dishwasher, so all that was needed was to install the new one. I have never had a more surly disgruntled service man at the house. When he completed the work at 7:15 he left - however I discovered that - despite very clear instructions in the installation manual - he had neglected to put the "p-trap" loop in the drain hose. Now it didn't take much work on my part to correct it, but in my view it doesn't show much professionalism to omit something like that during a 1 hour, $310 project. Oh, by the way - the stainless steel is NOT smudge free. I recommend that you think twice before buying from Fred's Appliance unless you intend to install yourself. read more

This is by far the worst place I have ever delt with. The stackable washer dryer was delivered and the knobs were in the bottom of the box. Further investigation found that the complete control panel inside was broken. A service tech responded three weeks later and stated it needs a new control panel and he would order it. Twelve weeks later a different service tech came out to install the new panel and it was the incorrect one. He stated he would order the correct one. Eight weeks later and several calls to Fred's and finally after talking to the manager Tim, he said that service guy no longer works there and they have no order for the panel. I told them I'm done and to come get the machine which has never been hooked up and he said that he would get back to me by end of business day. To this day I have never gotten a response. This store would get an absolute ZERO if it were an option. I cannot even imagine worse customer service than Freds Appliance in CDA. You will almost never get a person live when you call - No one will ever call you back - their actual service if you ever need to have them come out is usually 6 months out and they'll then cancel on you more often than not - even once they come out, they'll rarely be able to figure out what the problem is. They survive in CDA bc they're the only game in town. I'd strongly suggest going to ANY OTHER appliance store you can find before you become the next miserable ex-customer of Freds. read more

I called Fred's appliance in August and was told that they could not have a technician available to work on our refrigerator until January. They gave me a list of alternate service people. I called the service people who also were unable to get to our place until December. Therefore, found another repair person that was able to come out attempted to do the repair unsuccessfully. The technician finally showed up from Fred's appliance today and told me that because someone else already tried to repair it that they could do nothing to help that. It was too much of a liability for them. I've never heard of such a terrible business practice. We were even willing to sign off any liability to have someone from Fred's come and repair a refrigerator. Extremely disappointed as we have a relatively new home, and all the appliances were purchased through Fred's appliance. I wish I could give 0 stars on this review! We bought a stackable washer dryer for around $900 and have not been able to use it for 10 months now as it came with a broken panel. It has taken 2 orders and several different repair guys and it is still not fixed or usable. Finally we gave up and tried to return it and get our money refunded and they basically said it's not their problem. how is it not their problem!
