Every time I place an order for delivery with Fred Meyer/Instacart, I end up not getting all the items I ordered. I was careful to NOT Check the box for no substitutions; I answered the text within seconds of receiving notification that some items were unavailable. I called customer service and was told that because I did not specify an item to replace something, that's why they were refunded. When did this policy change?! Before, I would receive a text stating my options; now they are merely refunded !?! Well, guess what Fred Meyer? You have just lost a long-time customer who, in the past, has re commended your services to friends and family. NO MORE! ITS TIME TO START SHOPPING FULL TIME AT WALMART! This store doesn't treat their employees well, so they don't treat the customers any better. Shame on them for treating me, a disabled senior citizen so disrespectful. The top manager of this store is where the whole problem starts & then works it way down from there. HR was a horrible experience for me also. Check your receipt! I just bought a single loaf of bread, which was already more expensive than I wanted to pay ($7.99), but it rang up as $9.99. I told the attendant I changed my mind; I don't want to pay $10 for a loaf of bread. He gave me a $2 digital coupon discount, but I don't think he actually made a note to check or update the price in the computer. I did go back to the shelf and make sure that the price tag indeed was for the loaf I bought, and it was. So, be careful out there, mistakes happen. But kudos for believing the customer and giving an instant "coupon". read more

Large supermarket. This one also has a home section. Came to realize it is the same chain as Kroger. Good thing I still have my discount card. They also have fuel points for gas. Good selection of produce. The wine organization was a bit haphazard. It took me a while to find a Pinot Noir. It was mixed with the general categories of "red." Tight parking lot. read more

Jeanna Bixler in gardening was an excellent help. Not only does Jeanna know gardening but extension cords too. our class-c rv died unexpectedly and she located 2 300+ ft. cords to assist us. This is a great grocery store for stocking up - whether you live here or are vacationing and need staples for your condo. It even has an upstairs! I haven't really ventured beyond the groceries (and wine / beer section) but it appears to have a good housewares and sundries section. Oh, and escalators. read more

I like Fred Meyer in general but this store is not doing enough to get people to follow the state mask mandate. I tried to speak with an asst. Manager about it today, but he just walked away before the conversation was finished. Tons of unmasked and half masked people. The manager told me that they remind people when they see them, but this simply isn't true as I saw many in the store, and saw no one reminded. It's my impression that they do just enough to satisfy osha and not a bit more. Lousy shopping experience. read more

Don't shop here! I wish I could give Freds negative stars. Fred's has lost my business. Their "FRESHNESS GUARANTEE" does not exist. Two weeks ago I bought shrimp from the meat counter. When I went to make a salad out of it the NEXT day, it stunk so bad I had to air out the kitchen. I can't even describe the smell. This week I bought 4 avocados that were hard and green. Two days later I cut them open to eat them and OMG. Black and slimy. Yuck. This is just the recent rotten food I've bought thinking it was fresh and good. There has been other rotten produce to. Their commercials are all false advertisement because they DO NOT check their freshness at all. I will not shop there for any food, especially fresh produce again. I'm so tired of waisting my $$ on disgusting food. I attempted to tell their employees about it and they (seriously) just laugh and walked away. Great (not) customer service. On top of rotten food, their restrooms are disgusting, ALL Fed Meyer restrooms, not just Newport's. I have only seen restrooms this dirty at a rest area out in the middle of no where, even after they just so called cleaned them. I wont shop there again. Fred Meyer is in the middle of a remodel spurred by their rival across the highway, Walmart. Walmart is becoming a superstore so Freddie's had to update their store too. It's long overdue! So far, the changes look good but it's in chaos right now. Thankfully, the very friendly staff are everywhere to help and don't think twice about leading you all over the store to find things. A word of warning, however, they WILL just take off and you have to chase them with your cart. I still like Freddie's better than Walmart, even though it costs more. It's easier to navigate, the items are a little higher quality, and it just feels less like a warehouse and more like a store. They pretty much have everything you need here. In fact, I'm shocked when I find they don't have something but then, some of that may be solved by the remodel. We'll see. I'm giving them an extra star because this last time in there was the first time the restroom didn't smell bad. I'm hoping they solved their (lack of) ventilation problem. And because the staff is consistently amazing. By the way, there are always fantastic deals in the seasonal section, which is easier to find now. I keep trying to give Fred Meyer the benefit of a doubt, but I'm done, I hope they take peoples comments seriously, I was in the store the other night and part of my groceries got left at the checkstand I called the next morning to see if someone found them and the lady at customer service acted like I was putting her out of her way she did say they found the items so I came in later on to pick them up and they told me to go pick up the groceries. Okay, I love Fred Meyer. I grew up on these stores, and missed them achingly during stints of college and early work life in both Ohio and Montana . You know, I even have been taken to FM on a date once*... So this coastal outlet is my favorite, next to the Corvallis location. It's been recently remodeled, and is surprisingly large considering the overall size of Newport; it's bigger than the Eugene store by about 50%. There is an excellent section of organic, all natural foods and personal care items with nearly the same selection as my hippie grocer in town, but with more competitive pricing. Household items are also reasonably priced, there are lots of great board games, and even a clothing loft on the second floor. Since we're in town as visitors, it's great to come here and stock up on stuff that we'll use on vacation as well as once we're back over the hill. Oregonians, our little one stop shop is the best. Make sure you check it out for whatever you're looking for. *Said date didn't go that well, but it wasn't FM's fault! read more

I'm new to this part of the country, and so don't have the familiarity with the regional chains -- and so I can't compare this recently remodeled and newly re-grand-opened store to those in other towns. That said -- I am very excited to have found this place. The variety is terrific -- a HUGE fresh produce section, as well as a complete Boar's Head counter, and a massive "whole foods"-like section that takes up 3 long aisles. They carry some excellent, if harder to find, labels -- Numi teas, a variety of real yogurts, and a cold case full of obscure small-label sodas. And -- they are the only store I've been to that carries Oscar Meyer's "braunsweiger" liverwurst -- which my dog thinks is the only real dog-treat in the world. Like the Walmart across the street, they also carry housewares, hardware and gardening items, clothing, and even have an eye-wear kiosk which unfortunately couldn't fix my glasses, but made some helpful suggestions. I was a little disappointed in the meat market (it smelled of bleach and long use, as they often do in established grocery stores) and processed meats area -- they seem to carry everything made by the Jimmy Dean label EXCEPT the 2 things I wanted... which was disappointing. (the all-natural sausage, and the breakfast pancake/sausage sandwiches are both available at Walmart, so I guess I will have to shop at both.) Also, a lot of the nation-wide brand names in other areas of the store were omitted in favor of the store brand, which evidently is really (or shared with) Kroger. I am rarely a fan of store-brands, having gotten too many cans of "green beans" that turned out to be loaded with tough a fibrous "green stems." No thanks -- that's not really a money saving move. And in an aisle full of Keebler cookies and crackers -- not a single box of Keebler Zesta Saltines which are endlessly crispier and tastier than Premium. Ah well. Aside from those small complaints, the selection is exceptional. They have some kind of rewards-card program I haven't fully read about yet, and the first Tuesday of every month is "Seniors Day" and offers a 10% discount if you are over 55. They have lots of close-in handicap parking and a well-lighted lot; and the restrooms inside are clean. Everyone I talked to in various parts of the store was helpful and very friendly. Many (most) items on my standing grocery list are less expensive here than in any other store I've found in this area. All in all -- an excellent experience. I will be going back. read more

Let's face it. Freddy's has everything you need here. I like hardware and it has an impressive inventory. Paint, Tools, fasteners and you name it. Every kinda food you would want in the deli. Furniture is pretty darn good and the prices affordable. House hold goods and kitchen accessories abound! All in all everything is here including a great comprehensive clothing department. First off, let me introduce Fred Meyer to those of you that may have never shopped one. Fred Meyer is a hypermart chain, now owned by Kroger. However, Kroger hasn't made sweeping changes so the chain sells: Supermarket aisles - produce full-service meat and seafood counter groceries service bakery service deli "Natural Choices" nutrition center with bulk bins Home aisles- Drug store items - cosmetics, health and beauty products, in-store pharmacy Electronics department with music, DVDs, TVs, stereos, component cables, etc. Lawn and garden products, including seasonal outdoor garden center Indoor plans and garden supplies Paint, basic hardware, lighting, etc. Sporting goods, including hunting and fishing supplies, camping supplies Automotive supplies Apparel aisles- Mens, womens, childrens, infants clothing Shoes While on our coastal camping trip, we made a trip into Newport for a few things. We had a stovetop that used canned butane fuel, which Fred Meyer carried. This store also has a full-service Starbucks counter, like so many grocers and some discount department stores do these days. This store is laid out kind of strangely, as it is a triangle. A large amount of the apparel is located upstairs, but not all of it like the Lombard/Interstate Fred Meyer in Portland. This store did not carry weapons, but I remember the one further up the coast in Warrenton does because I have not seen that in a Fred Meyer in years. While we didn't need it, be sure to pick up the weekly ad when you walk in the store - there are usually percentage off coupons for apparel, home or electronics. Food and drug are usually the only non-discounted departments although there may be in-store coupons. read more

Are you kidding me! This is a mall not a store! They have everything you could possibly want. I mean where else can you buy sushi, apples and veggies, makeup, a vacuum cleaner, wine, a Fitbit and a crab trap?? I love this place!!! Oh and I even think they sell the kitchen sink. Lol. This is my local Fred Meyer store. I come weekly. For the past three weeks sale prices have not been ringing up correctly, which I understand is a computer programming issue. However, when I mentioned this in order to have it addressed on my last visit, I was rudely treated and told there was nothing they could do. When I asked that the item be taken off my order, the self check out cashier walked away forcing me to either pay or abandon my order. I feel that they may be taking advantage and gouging customers while there are emergency situations going on. read more

I went through the family friendly isle 3 tonight. the checker, Elijah was the rudest employee I've ever come across. He was so mad that I needed paper bags and it was obvious why. Because he had to bag my groceries. Not my problem! He didn't address me, no "Hi" just barked at me and said Do you want to get a bigger cart? I had the smaller two tiered cart. I said, I'm sorry, what? I didn't quite hear him the first time and then he YELLED "DO YOU WANT TO GO GET ANOTHER CART?" taken back, I asked, Oh, do you think I need one? My cart was not overflowing with items, just full. he yells back at me in a very rude tone, YESSSS and then glared at me, yelled a coworker to "get this lady a bigger cart" then slams the bags at me as he was filling them up. So I put them into my own cart. I was the bagger which is fine, not a big deal but I have literally never complained before but I did tonight. I live here, am a regular, have never had a problem at our local Fred's and this guy, wow-he needs help. He's in the wrong profession. I'm really tired of the cashiers at Fred Meyer being so rude when you forget your reusable bags at home. If you bring them you are required to fill them. If you need bags, they have to fill them and it angers them a great deal, clearly. Just do your job and be professional. read more

CAUTION. We were at Fred Meyer at 9:50 or so and it was near closing time, which we didn't realize, and we were getting last minute stuff and the workers were extremely rude by telling us to leave minutes after closing when one of my family member had to go to the bathroom and they denied him and continued to deny him after being told he was disabled. They were continuously very rude. After being rushed to leave the store, we ended up leaving our groceries in the cart. The workers then hesitated to return our own groceries that had already been purchased to us. FYI Malleah, the minimum fine for denying a disabled person with amenity is 75,000. read more

Yeah.. Ok... I'm not from these parts and I understand that Fred Meyer is where everything is at and all... But... Wholly freaking mess, Batman! This store is under renovation, obviously... It's still open.. So you just get to bump around in the mess and try to find what you are looking for... Which is hard when you don't really know where everything is supposed to be anyways! Plus we did it at 7pm when there really was no one around to ask for help, anyways. They almost had everything we needed to stock our condo for the week. Beach toys, check. Milk, juice, bread, various condiments and frozen foods, check. Fresh meat and veggies...... Whoops.. Not so check.... Fred, where have you been all my life!? Being a California girl I have been missing out! We drove by a couple of stores on our road trip. I quietly wondered "what and who the heck is Fred Meyer?" I researched and found out what I was missing. I asked my husband to stop as we started onto our next stop.. I used the excuse "we need water and snacks.." He knew what i was up to. I promised to make it quick.. yeah right! It really didn't hit me until I walked through the doors.. I was slightly over stimulated, I didn't know where to start! I headed towards the furniture and garden aisles. I spent the majority of the time in that area piling my cart with items to redecorate my bedroom. I was quietly trying to size up whether or not one of the sofas would fit in our car and how well that would work on the rest of our trip down the coast. Well, we passed on couch but I seriously considered it. We wandered upstairs to the clothing section. I found the clothing to be pretty pricey even with the 60% off sale going on. A simple pair of capri jeans, $50. Where Uncle Fred lacks in decent prices on clothing he far makes up for it in the rest this one stop shop! read more
