I'm actually quite impressed with this store! I've only been there a couple times so far but they always seem to have what I need. Inventory is well organized and staff are around to help find items. The store has been clean and carts available when needed. You can do self checkout if you have under fifteen items; if more than that you go where there's a checker. I love a store where you can get dry goods along with your groceries! read more

We have a Walmart plus membership and unless you pay $5 extra for a "speedy" delivery the orders are always always delayed!

This store is not a friendly store. Employees are rude and their "security" person like to exaggerate situations in order to make herself look relevant and necessary. I was in the store a few days ago when my playful 23 month old Am Staff heard another dog bark. Being a playful dog she ran toward the dog. She forgot that she was attached to the shopping cart so she drug it along with her. The site of a dog running toward her must have scared the customer and her dog so they were gone by the time that my dog reached the spot that they were in. My dog is training to be a service dog so she is not quite ready to be certified. She comes to my kindergarten classroom and is very gentle and friendly. The "security" woman approached me and said that my dog attacked the other dog and the shopping cart was the only thing that saved it from being killed by my dog. Not only was this overly dramatic but an out and out lie. As a representative of Wamart she has an obligation to be factual and non bias in her reporting of any situation. Because my dog resembles a pitbull she was judging the situation bases on the reputation that they have of being killer dogs. I could not resist laughing at she theatrics because a few minutes before she approached me my dog was loving up a complete stranger who called her over to her. That "security" person told me until my dog was certified she was not allowed in that store. I expect that all dogs that enter that store are expected to meet the same qualifications or they will be banned as well. I do not appreciate that "security" person making a minor situation into a serious one in a small community were people know each other and reputations can be ruined by false information being put out. She confronted me in the front of the store for everyone to witness her falsification of the facts. read more

Everything was ok until I checked out and was walking out the door. I saw the guy checking customers bags of groceries before they left the store. I don't give a rip about Walmarts stupid policies, but I will avoid ever going there in the future. UNACCEPTABLE!! read more

The Pharmacist named Philip at Newport Walmart without a doubt saved my husband's life. He caught a dangerous prescription which he refused to fill for my husband. The prescriber lowered the prescription but Philip still didn't feel good about it so he advised me to use with extreme caution even prescribing Narcam in case my husband stopped breathing. Thank you God we listened because we took medicine not together and only three times. When he did take it my husband's breathing was extremely labored and just plain scary. Turns out my husband's lungs were full of liquid cause by a cancerous mass. His condition is very treatable. We are hopeful for a full recovery. My husband could have easily slipped away forever if Philip had not cared enough to give us his warning. I intend to find Philip when the dust settles for us, to thank him personally. We are in another state getting excellent care, now. Philip is a high quality pharmacist and excellent human being. Thank you read more

This walmart is okay I mean there's other choices for shopping, this place is okay for a quick in and out but I wasn't really impressed the store is smaller compared to other Walmart Super Center's and has okayish stock, staffs ok but yeah I'm totally not impressed with what's available. Watch how they price things , they'll have a sale price posted then when you scan it a self checkout it will ring up at a different price so then you have to have a worker look it up on her price checker and she tells you nope it not on sale so if you're tired of this happening just about every time you have the manager go with you and show her the sale price versus what her price checker shows. I'm starting to feel this is just a way to scam shoppers who don't pay attention to what it rings up at. So be alert , watch the price when it scans and notify them that you are onto their scam. I love it. The service is acceptable, if your nice with them their good with you. I had a little surprise well trying to update my Netspend card and some may have considered the service rude or impatient, but I acknowledged the fact that they work hard. I was nice and eventually got a positive reaction with respect. I have no problem with being patient. I love this Walmart I love all the employees, the manager was helpful for helping find the best prices for Ben and Jerry's. Haha the great value brand is holding its quality here. 100%. The new movie set up is easier than it used to be. And I have yet to go back and purchase more. Man I love dvds. read more

We were surprised to find a Walmart in the area. But then again Fred Meyer and its other competitor are just around the corner. Newport is a small town.. I have to say near by within 5 miles or more this would be the closest Walmart. Its a bit confusing to find help but again its Walmart. So don't expect too much service. I also notice they don't have things like Sport team clothing. I mean I wasn't looking for it. But the Walmart in Seattle has license Seahawk products. read more

This Walmart is a typical version of the medium sized Walmarts that we see with multiple stores servicing a small city, like Salem, Oregon. Particularly South Salem. For this small town, it seems to have most of what a resident needs for every day supplies. The Online Grocery Shopping Curbside Pickup upgrade, coming later this month) will be fantastic, especially during tourist season will be great, because when the crowds grow, residents prefer not to even come to the store. I have lived here for 2 and a half years, and this store is my go to place for nearly everything! read more

Large store with generally everything I'm looking for in stock. Unfriendly cashiers that do the bare minimum, sometimes not even that. Stockers seemed very helpful tho. Overall interior appearance is closer to a Goodwill than what you'd expect a Wal-Mart to look like. Lighting seems off. Store is oddly areanged. read more

I am unashamed to say I shop at Wal-Mart and the Supercenters basically have everything you need. This Wal-Mart is no different and I'm very happy we have one here in Newport where there aren't a lot of other options. The prices are right, they have a good selection of products, and at this location all the workers I have encountered have been nice, friendly, and helpful. I will continue to shop here to get good deals and love that its a "one-stop" shop. It's a Walmart. Just like every other Walmart. Seemed to have what we where looking for and the staff was friendly.

I get that they are remodeling, but the portable toilets don't work for the disabled. The normal portable was too nasty to use. I'm luckier than some. I was able to stumble up the stairs to the trailer portable. HOWEVER, the door was so heavy that if my husband hadn't been with me to hold the door open, I would've been knocked over by the shear weight. What about the elderly that have no one? read more

This was the first time I had been to this location. It has gone through a large remodel and is still undergoing one with the food section. This is Wal-Mart after all however the selection and variety is seemingly in perfect balance. They seemed to have a little bit of everything without it being overbearing or having aisles upon aisles of useless crap that I didn't want. I was surprised at how stocked their grocery department is with the foods we wanted while staying in the area for a few days. I can always trust Walmart to have reasonable prices. They're in the middle of a big remodel and expansion so the layout is changes every week! Open 24 hours, so expect work crews and construction throughout the store. The parking lot is also busy and somewhat frantic. Once inside, however, you can expect to get a wide assortment of items from grocery and clothing to electronics and home improvement to sports and hunting. The employees are friendly and fairly knowledgable and really go out of their way to help. Hard to judge the layout until it's finished but currently it takes a long time to get what you need and get out. Check out is slow and prepare to be tempted by all manner of garbage -- gossip magazines, candy, and cheap gadgets -- while waiting. Looking forward to assessing after the remodel but all I can say right now is that one toilet per gender is not going to be enough! read more

The main reason I shopped at Walmart was for the cat food selection and they were the last place on the coast that sold CD's. Well no more CD'S. No cat food. NEWPORT, OR: This WalMart is somewhat difficult to navigate being that its quite new. Probably the fanciest Wal Mart I have ever been to, though. I'm shocked the locals allowed Wal Mart here, not that I have a problem with Wal Mart, but I know these coastal towns can be a bit nutty about big boxes. read more

As far as walmarts go... This one is typical. Tons of cheap Chinese products and a grocery store attached. Open 24 hours, you can find just about anything here. We came here looking for a few items we couldn't locate at Fred Meyer across the hwy... The grocery area is under construction so that really limited our choices... We still got some basic foodstuffs for hella cheap. But the real reason to come here is to watch the walmartians. Really, Newport is just like the rest of America.... Insert Walmart and they come in droves... Usually at night... Dragging offspring in their jammies... Heck, they all wear jammies now.... I like to poke em with a stick just to see what happens... DO NOT DO "PICK UP TODAY" ORDERS from the Newport Oregon Walmart! I have tried that 6 times and they are NOT CUSTOMER FRIENDLY. Many of the employees stand around and talk and have no interest in moving an inch to help you. There is often no one at the counter to help. When someone comes, they are mad with no willingness to help but with many excuses why they can't. When going to pull my own "pick up today" order, I ask employees that are in the rows where something is, they don't know. Something is going wrong with the Newport Oregon Walmart personnel. I hope something is done to fix this as many people drive a long way to shop there from this coastal area. It will be a long time before I try again. read more

As small-town Walmarts go, this one is average in every way. They have token items in every store section -- but not a lot of choices. In the food section, it's useful that Walmart has their own distribution centers, because that means they will have items not available to stores being stocked by regional and local distributors and their standard-loaded trucks. Every store up and down the highways carries the same thing because they get the same supply trucks -- except Walmart -- who gets their own trucks. This insures an injection of variety into the region, which is always okay with me. This store is clean, with nice wide aisles so you don't feel crowded, even when they are busy. The cold cases in the grocery have lots of variety -- which is welcomed; and their internal drug-store area is also fully stocked with choices. Much more-so than the local grocery stores. Parking is distant and many of their handicap spots have been replaced by basket-corrals -- which is a definite loss of star in the ratings. It always surprises me that once inside a Walmart, there's almost no way to know where you are in the country. They are like tiny Waldonian islands -- without even a nod to regional/local flavor(s) or tastes. I don't necessarily think this is a good thing. And nobody working there seems to look happy. read more

My friend was fired for following the code of ethics in Newports Walmart. And he was facing racial discrimination from staff and the manager. He was being forced to hold up the giant green sign in the self check out which was completely unnecessary and against his contract with Walmart. I found myself being stared at and ignored by staff as they know I am a friend of him. I was stared at by staff in the electronics department.They don't follow the Ten foot rule as well. And constantly claim that my friend holds a grudge against Walmart and gathers up staff to gang up on him whenever a conversation starts. Even when extra staff have no idea whats been happening. In a nutshell, Newports Walmart is forcing staff do so something completely against their contract. Please take notice. read more

This one is always out of items, and staff doesn't seem to know where things are and they constantly change things around, wish they would restock at night. They have really cut down on items and are constantly out of popular items. We find something we like but when we go back it isn't there anymore. We shop there less and less. Bought some "goat cheese and fig" pastries THEY WERE HOLLOW, nothing in the middle, a total rip off, not even a hint of what was supposed to be in the middle. read more

Unfortunately, their pickup service is a disaster. I have tried them four times and the last two were terrible. I had damaged (opened cereal) in one order. In the last order, they didn't have our order filled until an hour after the scheduled pick-up window. In addition, when we got home, we found we'd been charged for $79.47 of groceries that were missing. I called the store immediately. I talked to three people and was told by every one of them (including two assistant managers) that they had no idea how to fix the problem, but they were sure the store manager could because THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME! I was also told I would have a call back by the store manager first thing in the morning to start refund process. I'm getting ready to call the store again, because they haven't followed through. I would love to praise this service, but I have to recommend finding another way to get groceries. read more

I waited in the express line with 2 people in front of me for at least 20 min. I would of switched lines but there was only 1 line open and self checkout. I went in after work, which is later in the evening past 10PM. There was a fair amount of employees walking through out the store not acknowledging any customer in passing. I gather the items I wanted to purchase, head to the only check stand that is open, which was the last one. And see a like that is 15 people long. The cashier was drowning in dirty looks. Other employees are just walking right past the crowd as the line confined to reach well past the camping goods. I over hear the cashier say she did not want to call for another checker because it would be the supervisor who would get mad and be bothered if she called her to check. As a manager in a local grocery store it's very important to me that my checkers don't drown at the check stands. I'm always more then ready to drop my task to ring someone up if I'm needed to. read more
