I might have gone a couple of times when looking for a little plastic tote for make up or nail polish, those were the easy days. Recently, with all the emergencies and pandemics we're all having to get stocked up for our emergency supply, or bug out bag or our get home bag, or 72 hour emergency or our 25 year emergency it's a totally different ballgame. After watching a really interesting YouTube channel that I love called "Alaska Granny", I learned the value of the dollar tree store. On her channel she suggested going to the dollar tree store for all your emergencies needs and how you could save SO MUCH money compared to Amazon or Rite Aid etc. I would never have thought that possible until I went and I was so impressed and surprised with the variety of small and large food items, toiletries, hygiene products, medicinal products etc. I found myself rummaging through all the aisles of the dollar tree as if I was a kid in a candy store. I just loved it!! The best part is when you get to the end and you pay for everything, you figure it's going to be $70 or $80 and it's 30 bucks! I also have to remark or comment on the wonderful service. The guy who I talked to there was the manager and he was so helpful and friendly, we were talking about all the great products that were on the shelves and he was telling me where to go for everything and even telling me about all the great food there he said he bought most of his food there it was such a deal. He even told me that people would drive from Newport to this dollar tree because the one they had was less stocked and not as generous on items. Again I have to complement the staff for being so nice and friendly. I really hope this review helps out the dollar tree because it is such a great benefit to have in this little town and I'm so glad that they're there.

That's the way it happened when we were moseying around the highway in Lincoln City near the house we rented. I'm not sure what I expected to find in a place called Red Cock, even though the obvious answer might be something I wouldn't want to dwell on. Turns out, the name is a clever business strategy. Lure the people in with the strength of a naughty phrase, then make them sing your praises by selling all sorts of unique and well-priced trinkets once they're there. Seriously, dank nudie bars of the world, take note! There were racks and racks of earrings, bracelets, necklaces, and other kinds of jewelry, including two-dollar rings at the counter made from the repurposed wiring of dismantled circuit boards in Guatemala and matching earrings and necklaces made with preserved coffee beans. Also, shelves with handmade soaps, small precious stones, chopsticks adorned with Transformer-like characters, and just about any gift made from unusual materials by local and less-local artisans. In the back of the Red Cock (har har) were closets full of clothing, from fluttery beach shawls to wool-lined winter coats and articles to clothe you from the top of your head to the balls (balls!) of your feet. And even though nothing appeared to be outrageously priced, I could have easily forfeited a paycheck in there. "But wouldn't it be awesome if they had T-shirts that say 'The Red Cock?'" you might wonder, as did one of my friends. With that question, the store proprietress directed my friend to the sale rack in the rear (heh heh, this is too easy), and my friends doled out forty more dollars to become the owners of lime green cotton shirts silk screened with crimson-colored lettering with none other than the store's name and feathery namesake. That's right. I'm getting hitched to a member of the newly-instituted Cock Pack. The Cock Pack's influence is so strong that one of its founding members - my Crime Partner - and I were walking down to the beach later that day, and Crime Partner was proudly wearing his Red Cock shirt. A man stopped him to ask where he had gotten the shirt and gave Crime Partner a compliment on his attire before walking away. A few hours after that encounter, Crime Partner and I were outside a grocery store when we saw the same guy . . . wearing his own lime green Red Cock T-shirt. The woman behind the counter presiding over all Red Cock business understood the alliance she was instrumental in outfitting when she met my friends and me. She told a couple of us that we had a spirited bunch of guys. And when I made a lame joke about breaking their spirits, the woman at the Red Cock was like, "Yeah, uh huh, good luck with that." Woman in charge of the Red Cock (yeah, I know) -- consider yourself an honorary part of the Cock Pack. Lack of fowl friends and certain bits of anatomy don't matter.

There is such a wonderful (and HUGE) selection here! They carry clothing (mostly for women, but there is a small section for men, too), jewelry, crafts, and more. They have a wide range of sizes from petite to XXX (and maybe beyond). My favorite brand is Cut Loose out of San Francisco and they always get their new seasonal pieces in. And there's a great sale section in the back of the shop with some really good deals.

I am going to go out of my way not to come back here unless it is something small and quick where I don't need help. It's unfortunate because I've come here for years since it's very close to my house and I have bought a lot of my gardening tools, my drill, my lawnmower and various items here to support the store, but they are not supportive of me. So I have chosen to go to Ace South where people are kind and understanding they don't laugh at you for your shortcomings on knowledge about Tools, manuals, or items. I didn't grow up learning to do handyman work. I've had to train myself how to do things. And it would be nice if I went to a store where people respected my learning process. However, I don't get that here. With the exception of one person who is very nice. I can't say too much about the other people. It seems they are very close minded and not open to trying to help someone. I've lived in the community over six years. I think I've earned my right to get that now.

I still have my old dryer but when it breaks, I will go right back to Roby's's for a speed queen dryer. Their prices are reasonable they were very polite. Their show room is nice and clean and organized. One of the best things I liked about them was service. The guys that came out were amazing!!! They were able to troubleshoot a problem of lint behind my dryer because it wasn't connected. It could've been a horrible fire and they helped me clean that out as well as re-taping and putting a brand new filter in for me. I made sure to tip them. They deserved it. When you have workers like this, you better hold onto them forever. Enough great things to say about Roby's. I will for sure be back. No need to go out of town for this one. At Cap'n Gull's, there are so many gifts to choose from, ranging from magnets to shirts to snow globes. My goal is to bring back a snow globe from each city that I visit, and I ended up finding a cute one with a beach chair and umbrella inside. I also picked up a beach magnet, a Christmas ornament, and a street sign with my name on it. My boyfriend picked up several items as well. He got himself a shirt, a beer bottle opener, a basset hound magnet, and a beagle and a basset hound description photo frame. The total for all of these came out to about $100 or so. It's located on the 101 freeway right across the street from Kyllo's and the beach access parking lot, so you literally cannot miss it. You'll find almost everything from A to Z here.

We discovered that if your size isn't on display, the employees will happily go look in the back stock. They want that sale and will work for it with a smile ta boot. If they don't have your size they feel bad they couldn't help you. The first time it happened, it was adorable. Months later and another employee, the lady was telling us about what they ordered and the time and day they're expecting their next delivery and how the driver has been delivering to them for a couple year's now and how reliable he is. I almost wanted to ask if the driver wanted to come over for Christmas. I felt like I was getting to know this drver I never met. That's how friendly they are here. One of the reasons we've been shopping here year after year. We'll sometimes be on our way to another town. Just driving through Depot Bay, Oregon with no thoughts of stopping for anything and then we're looking at Hoodies.
