Always friendly and smiling cashiers. Sometimes they could open more registers. They always have what I need. Very clean.

So today I was shopping for some sun glasses and we found and a pair and I went to cashier 11 where a male worker named Ben was working. At first they weren't ringing up so they called it in and it came to $17.99 but on the tag it said $14.39 so I said something to Ben and he ignored me and was being very rude towards me, after me saying something over and over he finally fixed the price but was not nice and would not recommend going to him read more

This is my favorite store to get my one stop shopping done as I often have my kids with me and everything I need is in one store. But recently with the changes they have made I have left frustrated more times than not. I take the time to put my stuff on the belt organized into sections of heavy stuff, cold stuff, boxed stuff, produce and then everything else. But my cold stuff is never put together and it's never put into my insulated bags that I take. I live 20 minutes from town and often have other stops to make so having the cold stuff in the insulated bags that I provide would be ideal. I know to them it's the quicker the better but take the time to at least show some care for how things are bagged. read more

One of my favorite Fred Meyer locations most definitely. I come here often and have never had a bad experience. Prices are higher than Wal*Mart but quality is way beyond anything there. I can't be the only person who enjoys how Fred Meyer's does their lighting, you know like how it isn't hospitally feeling, you get it. Anyways Fred Meyers is the best, and this one is great! Electronics section though... please have people that know what they're talking about. read more

In Newport, I always look for a store I know...and that is Freddies! I love Fred Meyer...and even though this location is smaller and feels older than the rest...its still a decent store. I'm sure the newer Walmart down the street is taking away business...but don't let that stop you from shopping here! read more

This review is not for Fred Meyers as a whole but is based on my experience with their Newport Oregon optical department. I made an appt with Dr Lisa Jones to get my eyes examined so I could refill my contact prescription. I have worn contact lenses for over 30 years. I wore my lenses to the exam as requested. I completed the eye exam and was told by Dr. Jones that my eyes were healthy and my prescription had not changed. I left and returned home. Approx 2 days later I ordered my new contacts from 1-800 contacts. I expected to receive my lenses within a few days as I always have. Instead, I was contacted by 1-800 contacts and told that Dr. Jones had denied the prescription. When we contacted Dr Jones office (she would not talk to us personally) I was told she would not ok my prescription until I returned for another appointment to see if my eyes were reacting ok with contact lenses. When I told them I was not a new contact lens wearer and had been wearing them for 30 yrs, I was told that was Dr. Jones policy and was normal. I should also point out that their office is a 2 hr round trip from my home. I then contacted 4 other eye exam centers and was told that none of them required a return visit after the initial exam unless it was for a new contact lens wearer. I contacted Vista Optical Corporate offices and received an apology and was told they would call Dr. Jones to get my prescription ok'd. I received a call back and was told she refused to cooperate. I told the representative that since I had paid to get the prescription and could not get it I wanted a refund. They told me that they would do so and that I would be contacted by Fred Meyers to get my info and I would have a refund within two weeks. As of this date I have not heard from anyone. In the meantime I went to Costco Optical in Salem and paid for a new exam, received my contact prescription and ordered my lenses. I have since spoken to several people that relayed the same issues with Dr. Jones.... I would highly recommend if you need an eye examination that you find a different Dr. That is logical and treats you like a valued customer and carries through with the job they were paid for. read more

On the first day of my stay in a condo on Nye beach I tripped and fell. The result being minor, but, the problem was that I bent my glasses frames to almost unusable. I went to the local Newport Fred Meyer store optical (Vista optical), explained that I was visiting and what had happened. Prices have gone up so much we might not be able to shop here anymore. Milk prices went up $1.00 in two days. Toilet tissue went up $3.00 in a week. Pretty hefty increases. read more

I love Fred Meyer and I truly wish they had one here in Memphis. They have everything under one roof and everything is fairly priced and the people are all very friendly and helpful. Not much else to say. If we had one, this would be my store of choice. read more

I am lowering my score, one star because I love their produce and food and a few things but I gave it three stars when they cut my fire arms section for a stupid reason, but now lowering to one star because if takeoff the fire arms was big enough they now take away my big and tall section. So no fire arms and now no clothes. Can not recommend this place accept for groceries. Sorry. read more

This is a larger store, as store size goes in Oregon coastal towns. This store offers the full Fred Meyer treatment and was very well stocked. This store can be very busy, especially during summer months with tourists out the wazoo. Getting in and out of this location with a big rig can be tricky and their fuel center is tucked in the north corner of the parking lot. Getting a larger RV in takes some time and patience. read more

This review is regarding in store staff/management, not cashiers. I live 40 miles away from this store and had been trying here and elsewhere to find a particular item that was necessary for our Thanksgiving dinner. We're vegetarian, but think "turkey, (ie: main course"). We had bought this item in years past without incident, but this year were told they didn't expect to get it in time for Thanksgiving. This morning (day before the holiday), we called to double-check and were told they had just gotten the item in and had "plenty" on display. I drove the 40 miles to get there and walked all around the store for 10-15 minutes before asking for help. Staff Person #1: "They're down there" (pointing). They weren't. Staff Person #2: "We got them, but they haven't been put out yet. (no offer to go get one for me). I asked "could you go get one for me?" He rolled his eyes and walked away. I said" should I just wait here?". He did not respond - just kept walking. I waited a few minutes and he returned saying "I asked the grocery manager and she said we don't have any". I asked to speak to her. He rolled his eyes, called her on his radio and then pointed at where I could find her. I asked what she looked like and he said "she's wearing a grey shirt with things hanging on it". I walked down the aisle looking for someone who looked like they were expecting a customer. No luck. I found her sitting on the floor stocking cans. I had to ask her if she was the manager and then I told her about my having called and had been told they did have the item. Staff Person #3: She said she didn't have any idea what or where it was, so she called on her radio trying to find someone who knew something. She directed me to go find another staff member (who she couldn't describe). When I tracked her down, she was standing by a case which had several of the items I was looking for in it. Staff Person #4: She said "it doesn't make any sense to put it here, but that's what I was told to do". I had heard rumblings in the community that Fred Meyer's customer service, which had once been excellent, had really declined, but I hadn't experienced it myself until this experience. Everyone is super friendly. Lots of smiling faces, bank people are also nice. Great toy and gun selection. Went to get my son matchbook cars. They were a dollar each. Their is a male associate upstairs in the clothing section that is a little strange. I won't say why. Wine selection was really good. Cheese selection was really bad. Staff doesn't know where anything is located, but they are all very nice. read more

This is the nicest grocery store in town, and even beats Walmart on many food items. The clothing is a little pricey, but offers a good selection if you are looking for style. Employees are super-friendly and although this is the first Fred Meyer I have been in, it gave me a great first impression and made me a Freddie's fan. read more

Besides there frequent incorrect prices (check your receipts) the wifi in the store is never working and it has a Starbucks inside and lots of plugs but no wifi unless you go to the electronics department as Customer Service directed me but after going there and having photos developed the department manager put an obstacle in the only seat I could use to get on line , the next time I went there he told me there was a plug in the middle of an aisle and use it there , I went back the next day and some barrier prevented me from using that plug so in essence they as good as told me I can't use their internet, I drive a motorhome and go to FM to do all my errands in one place but of course I had to drive down the road a few miles to the only other Starbucks so I can access the wifi. read more

Had to get a prescription from my doctor filled while on vacation. The people on the pharmacy said 1:30pm, then would just tell me it was still in process and it would be a few minutes. Never was a few minutes and keep was ended up being treated like a stupid out of towner. I won't fill there again. read more

Thank you for providing the Newport area a great alternative to Walmart. Fred Meyer's has so much more in quality options for the home, small appliances, furniture, electronics, toys, clothing, sporting goods, tools/mechanical items, food, and hygiene/beauty supplies. I feel that our local store is always clean and the cashiers are always very helpful, courteous, and friendly! My experience with the pharmacy, optical department, and jewelry store have all been very positive as well. My mother uses the in-store bank and I know she is very happy with the service there also. read more

you can get pretty much anything here. and it's not walmart, so that's automatically +1 star. i'm usually not a fan of the 1/2 department store 1/2 grocery store, but these guys pull it off. good variety of organics and produce for small town oregon. read more

Normal Fred Meyer. Seems that at the beach the staff are nicer(if they think your local). they have remodeled (and are still) so things are hard to find but most staff will help you out. one thing though. they can put a new face on the store but its the same people working. crummy staff are still crummy and the worst is going into a store that looks really nice to have a employee that is real nasty. Good thing most in the store are very nice. just stay away from lawn and garden. read more
