After driving by hundreds of times over the years, no exaggeration, I stopped in the other day when I saw their price for regular at $4.39 and everywhere else in Hood River regular was $4.79. It's a small pit stop, a few workers, and everyone was friendly. Without even asking, they cleaned my front and back windows. It's been years since I have ever received this service. Thanks from me and my windows! Their pumps are old and need upgrading. I say this because one of the workers wasn't paying attention and gas overflowed. Not sure why they all seem to be going the way of the Dodo bird (thanks Gramps), but for those of you that enjoy a clean cement stall, with brushes and wands that work and water pressure that is good, then I've got the spot for you. Relatively hidden, yet not too far from some main roads, rests the green face of Sparkle. Five big clean stalls, with working gear, the usual washing choices (soapy brush, anyone?) and lots of water pressure make washing a snap. Their parking lot is a little tight, not sure how something really big would get thru, but there are some nice drying spots behind the wash stalls for the rest of us. The overall space is clean and uncluttered and the neighbourhood offers lots of street parking. READER: (thinking) It seems like he really likes the place, I wonder why he only gave them four stars. I'll tell you why, they don't accept quarters. nope, just your plastic credit cards or paper money, no coins. no tokens even. My girlfriend & I ended up here after searching everywhere on Labor Day for a tire shop. I had a…read moreflat, indicating something had pierced my tire. I was able to get the spare on, but apparently the gentleman that assisted me at the site I came from put it on wrong!!!!! The older gentleman at Ortigoza educated me & even said I would've been better off putting it on myself lol. Him, and I presume his sons, were able to get the spare off, located a piece of metal in my tire, removed it, patched it up, and put my original tire back on!! The price was very reasonable, as well.
