Temporarily they were allowing self serve, which most everyone chose. I never understood that. In every other aspect of our lives, people want service. They order fast food, go through a drive through rather than going inside. Sometimes too lazy to drive so have it picked up by Uber And pay a fee. They order groceries for pick up. Yet when it comes to gas, they want to stand out in the heat or cold or wind and pump their own gas? Just don't get it. While I don't order delivery or go to drive throughs, preferring to cook or eat at non fast food places, I happily let the gentleman at the station pump my gas! Even happier to get 20 cents off per gallon because of my points. I'm happy to live in a state where people pump my gas for me! I'm from NJ originally, where they also provide this service. Actually have never lived anywhere that didn't provide this service, it that it's one of my requirements! But I like it. The experiemce here was great. Plus the guys hanging out in there were entertaining themselves by listening to a police scanner. Needless to say, it didn't sound like there was much of any police activity in the Dalles at the day and time I stopped in. Tasty soda, clean bathroom, fun bic lighter collection. Of that's not worth 4 stars, I don't know what is.

We specifically checked with the clerk verifying the price of 3.91 and she said she our debit card would be 10 cents more a gallon if we used our debit card at the pump vs walking over to the kiosk(10 feet away). So my husband went to the kiosk and she proceeded to pump the gas. When we got the receipt, it showed the discrepancy in gas and price per gallon. We spoke to the manager on the phone and he REFUSED to make it right.

Knowing from previous travel through Oregon that there were a lot of Shell stations in Oregon and along the coast I enrolled in the Fuel Rewards program heavily promoted at Shell stations in Salt Lake City and purchased a few prepaid Shell cards. Upon arriving in The Dalles Oregon I stopped to fill at this station. Even before a standard greeting or welcome and upon handing my rewards card and Shell branded prepaid card, the attendant (name unknown) launched in a tirade about not accepting FPN. I then asked him what he was talking about the cards have the Shell logo, you don't accept Shell cards for payment? and he scoffed "No, the other one". After then determining that he meant the 'FRN' card, I withdrew the rewards card and extended my hand with the prepaid card and asked him to please fill the tank. He then said "do you have a problem with that" to which I replied that "I do, I enrolled to receive the discounts offered". He then told me to "go then". As I am taking pictures for my Yelp review he jumps in front of me screaming "take my picture, take my picture" and "I am going to take a picture of your RV and license tag". Note; I did not ask him to take my picture nor did I give him my permission! This attendant is of the rudest people I have encountered in our travels to Oregon in the many years we have vacationed here. I highly advise that you choose another fuel provider in The Dalles who wants your business and isn't abusive.

I used to gas up at Freddie's, but for whatever reason when I do self serve - and all their pumps are self serve - they never give me my gas credits. So from now on, I'll gas up at this 76 station. Conveniently located, easy to pull in and out Of pump area. Plus they are right next to Alicia's Bakery, that took over La Ideal Bakery space, and they have fantastic Mexican pan dulce.
