Temporarily they were allowing self serve, which most everyone chose. I never understood that. In every other aspect of our lives, people want service. They order fast food, go through a drive through rather than going inside. Sometimes too lazy to drive so have it picked up by Uber And pay a fee. They order groceries for pick up. Yet when it comes to gas, they want to stand out in the heat or cold or wind and pump their own gas? Just don't get it. While I don't order delivery or go to drive throughs, preferring to cook or eat at non fast food places, I happily let the gentleman at the station pump my gas! Even happier to get 20 cents off per gallon because of my points. I'm happy to live in a state where people pump my gas for me! I'm from NJ originally, where they also provide this service. Actually have never lived anywhere that didn't provide this service, it that it's one of my requirements! But I like it. The experiemce here was great. In, out, a friendly greeting and a wish for a good day!

Needless to say, it didn't sound like there was much of any police activity in the Dalles at the day and time I stopped in. Tasty soda, clean bathroom, fun bic lighter collection. Of that's not worth 4 stars, I don't know what is.

Not sure why they all seem to be going the way of the Dodo bird (thanks Gramps), but for those of you that enjoy a clean cement stall, with brushes and wands that work and water pressure that is good, then I've got the spot for you. Relatively hidden, yet not too far from some main roads, rests the green face of Sparkle. Five big clean stalls, with working gear, the usual washing choices (soapy brush, anyone?) and lots of water pressure make washing a snap. Their parking lot is a little tight, not sure how something really big would get thru, but there are some nice drying spots behind the wash stalls for the rest of us. The overall space is clean and uncluttered and the neighbourhood offers lots of street parking. READER: (thinking) It seems like he really likes the place, I wonder why he only gave them four stars. I'll tell you why, they don't accept quarters. nope, just your plastic credit cards or paper money, no coins. no tokens even. Or as my Grandpa says, "This is the future, if quaint little washing stalls like these make it to the future."

We stopped at another mechanic, they weren't there anymore but online wasn't updated, then another one who couldn't fit us in and finally Paco's. He immediately got to diagnosing the issue. Despite having several clients booked the following day he fit us in. The job took the better part of the day and he got us on the road again with extremely fair pricing. Thanks to Paco and his team we reloaded the mountain bikes, kayak and all the family junk and got back on the road to finish off our vacation. My only complaint is that we don't have him at home. The Gorge is fortunate to have auto techs that are honest, matter of fact and fix your vehicle for a fair price. I wouldn't take my car anywhere else. In fact I've had my car towed from Portland to this shop. Because I trust them. They tell you the issue & you choose whether or not to proceed. And yes, for a proper diagnostic, you have to leave your car. On that note; I read the one star reviews. I called & chatted with the owner about them. First off, this is an Auto Shop. Not Nordstrom's customer service department. Techs are techs. Direct. I think you need to consider that there are 2 sides to every story. "The break guy" - $1000 was to do a proper fix. 2 Rotors, 2 Calipers, set of pads plus labor. Les only quoted for one caliper. Which is unsafe. 6 months later, he is driving without any fix.
