I end up doing most of my grocery shopping here. Sometimes the crowd can be not so great, but in general nothing to worry about. Overall, the lines are generally not super long, they keep stuff in stock, and you don't have to have a savings card to get the sale prices. The customer service people are pretty good if you can find someone to help you. I've never tried one of their "customer service" phones that are sprinkled throughout the store, but I imagine it would be useful. However, I prefer to hunt a real person down. The food is decently priced and they have lots of other random things in the department store area. It's kind of nice to have the chance to run and grab some socks while grocery shopping if necessary. read more

Fred Meyer's are a PNW institution. This location in Burien is near the airport and so I often swing by after a trip out of town to re-stock on groceries. They also have a BECU atm outside of it which is convenient (part of COOP network for all credit unions with no fees) read more

Best produce section by far! Always fresh, well-stocked, clean and bright. Love that there's a Starbucks (and a milkshake machine! omg) in-store here, as well as a bank & atm. I don't typically shop here for clothes, but they do have a great selection of baby stuff and I love that I can buy pretty much anything else on my list here including home repair supplies and plants. Customer service desk workers are friendly, but the line can take FOREVER! Not sure what the right fix for this is, since I've had to go through it a few times and no matter if one or all of the stations are manned it still takes a long time. The regular cashier stations are all great though and the self-checkout is speedy and convenient! I find that Safeway tends to have better "club card" deals, but if I need one-stop shopping I'll always choose Fred Meyer for the convenience of having everything under one roof. With an infant in tow sometimes you just have to pick your battles and getting a baby in and out of a car once instead of multiple times is a godsend for this new mom! read more

I've been coming to Fred Meyer for years. The service has always been decent/good. The wait in the deli used to make me avoid it but recently I haven't been having to wait to get my food. I've had (Gina) and (Pam) slice my meats a few times and their customer service impressed me. The meat department worker stocking food (Angela) also was very helpful with my questions. The checker, Cassandra, refused to scan my rewards coupon, claimed it wasn't valid even though it most certainly is, argued with me rather than reading it, then THREW IT AWAY BEFORE I COULD USE IT! As if that wasn't enough, she rudely dropped my bagged items on the belt behind her, nearly out of reach, and then turned her back and ignored me when I had to stretch to retrieve the items I'd just purchased. Can I say 3.5? Compare it to the other grocery stores in Burien and you are at a 4 star. It has it's issues, but overall I am very happy. Restocking is for some reason a huge problem with this store, I don't know why I wont guess. They don't restock during the night, so morning shopping trips might be painful. The coupons they send are just terrible. Maybe it's just me but I've almost never used them. I get gas here all the time, it is a huge convince to shop and then get gas with the discount which makes it a little more affordable. Also its a big station so lots of pumps I have never waited. They keep a good clean parking lot. This is honestly one of the nicest places you can go grocery shopping at in the area. you sometimes even find cute painted rocks the locals have left around.Transports and people abuse the fire lane like at all grocery stores unfortunately, and with no repercussions, expect it throughout the day. Self check-out is the way to go, it is still early so I will accept growing pains, but the machines need to have speeds increased so you are not constantly waiting to scan and place while the machine is still telling you to place the last item. I think 1 person is prob ideal, but honestly 2 seems to be needed. Age check.... waiting... coupon...waiting...new recipe tape...waiting... computer hiccup... waiting... the 1 person on the phone because for some reason the only person at self checkout is suppose to answer phones as well? Waiting... larger checkout lanes not open so have to go to 4 bag area with a full cart, and computer wants to know where every item is when the pile is falling over... yup... waiting.... ya get it, then multiple it by what, 6, 12 to 1 person? It works, it really does, but a little more work needs to go into making it work smoothly. The parking lot can be very dangerous, I would not recommend going near the tire center in the SW corner, the trucks that make delivery there block entire rows of cars in, and customers park in the lanes. The NW back section is a welcome entrance to the garden center, be sure to lock your doors, as I would in any parking lot. There is good, there is bad, but for my money, which is incredibly important to me, this is the place to go for the best deals with the least hassle. Rarely go here but, on saturday we dropped to look a BBq and none of the seats had seat belts for kids? This seemed wierd because you'd think they would be in to safety and all. I mentioned something to a person who looked like a manager and they did not really seem to care. Also the checkout lady was SO slow it was painful. Still I will say Fred's is my grocery store...but I made a horrible mistake today and went to their deli counter again. This time is was for something that would go with bbq spare ribs. I opted to bring home some kind of Rotini salad they had. Seriously....somebody should be fired for selling that stuff. This review is specific to the Fred Meyer Jewelry department at the BURIEN 1st Ave store. After buying and installing a new #362 swiss battery for my Rado watch from a different Fred Meyer costing $6.00 including tax, my watch still didn't work. That store told me I could go to Burien for a free diagnostic. However, the repairman there just suggested that I could buy a new battery for $20.00, and he would install it. If it works fine if not, no charge for the installation. I asked him repeatedly if he could evaluate the watch to see if it was worth repair. I was fully prepared to pay for a repair if needed. he would not say yes or no. He seemed more interested in selling me a 6.00 battery for $20.00. Very poor customer service! read more

my doctor prescribed me the brand name drugs, my insurance covers the brand name drugs and all I got were generics. what makes it worst, I wasn't even notified about substituting. I had to ask and, first, they were trying to tell me that my doctor didn't prescribed the brand name, then, that they don't have it... really upsetting cause I've had a couple bad experiences with the generics and, at this point, don't have a time to get the drugs from another pharmacy. oh, and I left the prescriptions four days ago, enough time to get me notified. won't go there again read more

The Fred Meyer florists are clutch. I came in the day before Valentine's Day this year and Norma who runs the florist department there was great. She gave me tips on what would go well with the roses I was buying for my gf, and made the process of getting a custom bouquet on Valentine's Day totally relaxed and great. Just had a unreal experience. My 4 year old was trying to be a big helper and help with groceries. We'll long story short a bag hit the floor, he went to pick it up and cut himself on a piece of glass now broken in the bag. Two employees rushed in like Medics on the battle field with bandages, napkins, and ointment. Wish I had they're names for a shout out but greatly appreciated. This pharmacy is the worst that I have ever done business with. I have dealt with this Fred Meyer off and on for more than 25 years. The only reason I go there is because my insurance allows certain ones and this is the closest to me. I have been told my prescription would be ready at 6:00 at night and I get there at 8:00 and it is still not ready. The people who work the counter are busy doing things so I stand there and wait several minutes while they finish what they are doing before they will assist me. Then the phone thing. Dont try to call a prescription in where you want to speak to them. I have been put on hold so long that it kept ringing back and they kept answering and putting it on hold again. And I have been hung up on. These people should have the concern to dispense medication with some kind of customer service. read more

I cannot support a store that can't listen to their customers. My wife and I have gone to Freddie's for years but can't go here except in an emergency. On 3 separate occasions in the last 2 months we have seen mice running between aisles in the grocery portion of the store. On each occasion we have told a supervisor on duty and have gotten the nod from them that yeah we know yet clearly nothing or not enough has been done as of last night when we were there. This was at 7:30pm and the deli was still open serving food. I have worked at grocery and produce stores and understand seeing one is not rare but when you as a customer are seeing them with regularity there must be a MAJOR problem. I love Fred Meyer! However, this location is not my favorite because of two reasons. Firstly, the parking lot is always really crowded and not set up well. I've actually witnessed multiple fender benders there. Second, there is only one automatic door on the grocery entrance of the store which makes it hard for people to get in and out with huge carts. I don't really do my grocery shopping here but sometimes I like to switch it up and buy some here for a change. They have a pretty good food selection and their deli isn't too bad either. Sorry Fred Meyer I will never buy from your meat department ever again, the trickery on pricing your meat is all misleading some are priced like it should but the few times I have purchase meat I've been disappointed, from your pork being to salty like it pack that way to have longer shelf life definitely not the seafood and the price I had to pay for hamburger today there's no tag like the other meat products I find out at the check stand I paid 26.00 to make a 5 pd meatloaf with the pack we're all 1pd package with what I thought was the price 3.23 was the only tag on it. After paying for I ask myself what did I buy. I find the 3.23 tag was the expiration date. I will still go for the vegetables and fruit. Believe me I see the butchers back there they watch me cause I hardly ever buy their products, so many other stores to buy from that are so much better. read more

OK Freddies is my favorite place to shop.Close to home and everything under one roof .But this time of year they are a hazzard to get in the door..The back door which is my favorite cause I get to see Joy{my favorite helpful lady} clerking..everyone is wonderful there...BUT they have large boxes of cinnamon cones in the entryway and they also have them in the floral department.I cant hold my breath long enough to get past them.I get a migraine every time I get a wiff..It is so very strong.so I have to be careful to not go near the floral dept...and I can only come in the produce doors till the season is over..I cant be the only one sensitive to this strong smell..why dont they put them out in the garden section where there is more air so they arent poisioning the customers.??? read more

A friend of mine took a look at the seed packets I recently bought there ( buy two get one free) and informed me I could make ore money selling packaged seeds than most people charge for Mary Jane. It' legal too, but since the price already comes stamped on the packets and I don't mind tossing some cold hard cash towards Ed Hume's of Puyallup (four bucks) for some hardy perennials. I had quite the adventure yesterday that entailed three trips to two separate Fred Meyers- however that had nothing to do with any of the stores. In fact they remained polite and helpful until the very end and beyond of operating hours. I'll probably end up coming back before seven days have passed.
