Fred Meyer is my go-to grocery store for many reason. They have low prices, great sales, nice rewards point system and great customer service. I tend to shop at the lakeway store more often than not and it's been very busy lately. Even with that said. They open more lines to assist the customers waiting in line to pay. I went in looking for a just because toy for a little girl fighting cancer and asked a sales associate if they had any pony or horse toys. He took me straight to the isle, and asked questions on the way about who the toy was for, and what specific type we were looking for. Fred Meyer is one of our go to store for our basic grocery needs, like milk, eggs and cheese. We generally go to Costco for these food items; however, like other similar big stores like Target and Wallmart, they also carry many various products from their various departments. Overall, their customer service is excellent and their prices are pretty good. I was at this particular store last night to pick up a few things. I was rather surprised and very pleased by how quick they were able to find my wife's 3THREE CHEESE ITALIAN item, which I could not find at the CHEESE aisle. PERHAPS, it was because I painted a rather grim and unpleasant encounter with my wife to the cashier, if I failed to deliver the goods. OOohh! My new favorite store in Bellingham! They have a sizeable natural foods section and I can find the yogurt brands that I like (Nancy's, Fage, Brown Cow). They also have a good produce section--I found chanterelle mushrooms there last time and a decent cheese selection for a big chain store. But for those needing speciality supplies, you will best be served looking beyond these walls. Ever since moving to the Northwest (Oregon and now Washington), Fred Meyer has been my go to grocery shopping place. I mainly stick to groceries and don't venture much into the clothing, appliances, etc. That being said, this is truly one-stop shopping. The prices are always competitive as well. I really enjoy perusing their bulk section. Need some trail-mix? They have like 15 different kinds! I have also never been disappointed with their produce. Vegetables and fruit are usually fresh (as long as you are buying in season), and well priced. If I wanted to find cheaper prices, I'd have to go to Winco across town (and that store gets craaazy). read more

This Fred Meyer is by far the busiest grocery store I have ever been to. Trying to find parking is a pain, and maneuvering around all the other shoppers is a hassle. The aisles are too small. Too many people shopping all at once for this little store. To top it all off their prices are astronomical compared to the Winco two exists up the freeway. Produce and deli are excellent but doesn't make up for how expensive it is. Save yourself $100's and go to Winco. read more

The customer service is awful and the employees are rude and inconsiderate. It is also extremely busy and parking is a nightmare. I live very close to this Fred Meyer location so I am there almost everyday. Usually everyone is nice and helpful, two days ago I went in and the guy I asked for help to find Risotto even took the time to let me know that it was the only one they had in the store and walked me right to it. Wish I could remember his name ‍ anyway. Today I went through a regular check out as they were extremely busy (usually go through self check) Carilin was the checker and Jen was bagging, they are having their own conversation about whatever it was and I noticed when the guy in front of me spoke to them they said nothing in reply but looked at him and kept on their own topic. My turn, I say hello and ask how her day was and was met with annoyed and displeased looks from them both and they continued on with their conversation as before. They both completely ignored the customers around them even when they were greeted by customers. Both were rude to the dad and kid behind me in the same manor. I have seen Jen often and she seems to be a PIC possibly but I couldn't guess how she got that if she is. Your job is to make customers feel welcome and if needed, helped. I get it, work isn't fun, but still have respect for people around you especially when you are at work and it involves taking CARE of your customers as a number one priority. read more

I have always enjoyed shopping at Fred Meyer. The store has a warm, inviting atmosphere that isn't too post-modern and trendy (like Target) or sterile and tasteless (like Walmart). The isles are clearly labeled and organized, making it easy to find your way around. Although they don't always stock the exact product I'm looking for, being in the store makes me feel warm and invited. I just recently purchased a new gaming mouse from their electronics department and appreciated the convenient and sectioned off area they had for this department. It's accessible right near the front of the store so you don't have to walk all the way through to the back to get to it (like at other establishments). The mouse (a Logitech G400) was overpriced by almost double compared to every other online store I checked and Fred Meyer doesn't price-match online stores (which is unfortunate but to be expected). Fred Meyer's price was $49.99 but the same mouse was selling online for $19-$34. But that's OK because I needed a new mouse right then and there since my old one started failing. Overall, shopping at Fred Meyer's is always a fulfilling and rewarding experience. Their prices aren't the best, but you'll feel good making your purchases here. read more

Going into the store to shop is always really busy so we tend to order the groceries and pick them up in the parking lot. My kids love going inside though because they get to go into a little daycare center that thats provided by the store where the kids get to play and color while you do your grocery shopping. It's funny - in Canada, I never shop at discount stores. But then again, America's discount kingdoms, like Fred Meyer and Target, have it all over our sad little Zellers. I didn't wander over to the grocery aisles on this visit, but the housewares and toys called my name, especially a great big electric griddle for $20. Bad food from Deli. I was at Fred Meyer (1225 W Bakerview Rd) on October 23 at about 9:30 PM and purchased from the Deli, potato salad (Red, white, and blue potato salad) and 4 pieces of fried chicken. Within 2-3 hours I got sick and had violent diarrhea. The symptom were alleviated by early morning (3-4 AM) so I suspect a toxin likely from the food being left too long or too warm. Be careful of the deli food! Of this can be said of many supermarket deli's. Otherwise a good store so I don't knock it to the lowest rating. Update, I called the store manager to let them be aware of the bad food from the Deli but he seemed to care little. With this lack of customer concern, I, unfortunately, am compelled to reduce my rating. read more

What an incredible store! It's really a Walmart alternative, but much much better in every way. The products are better, the store is cleaner, the staff is friendlier, etc, etc. It's really a one-stop shop. They have every sort of food item imaginable, all sorts of clothing items, and all kinds of houseware products. The prices are very good also. I'm having to rethink shopping at Fred Meyer. It raised its own brand of wet cat food (Pet Pride) by 25.6% overnight (from 39 cents to 49 cents, making it more expensive than name-brand cans) -- and then had the nerve to put a large LOW PRICE sign on it. The increase and sign indicate the company believes customers have no memory of price -- and little intelligence. It reminds me of Dallas Maverick owner Mark Cuban's quote about the NFL -- " When you try to take it too far, people turn the other way. I'm just telling you, when you've got a good thing and you get greedy, it always, always, always, always, always turns on you. That's rule No. 1 of business." read more

*this review is for the ELECTRONICS section* Normally I love Fred Meyer but the last few visits have been lacking the usual friendliness I'm used to. Tonight was the worst by far. I stopped in to find a cable to connect my laptop to my TV. I'm not super familiar with things like this so I asked for help from an holder lady. When I asked for something like this she responded with a sassy "HDMI cable?", I was asking her because I didn't know not because I wanted a sassy remark about my poor knowledge in the area. She walked me over picked up a cable and handed it over (not saying much or asking any questions). And as unsettling this experience was, I go home to find the cable DID NOT work for my computer which made me even more mad because she acted like I was some idiot for not knowing which one to get. "Freddies" has always had problems with their customer service. Everyone there, except one person I've encountered, is aloof, and seems to not give a sh*t if you find what you're looking for or not. A sales associate, with a huge handlebar moustache, actually said to me after I asked a question about the magazine stands being located in the back, "Well, it doesn't affect me," and continued walking away from me, then pointed to a section in the back and quickly disappeared. Really? Unbelievable. Honestly cannot remember if it was this store or the one on Bakerview. Doesn't really matter since every Fred Meyer I've been in has terrible service. After going back and forth in their health section/bulk food area, several items were gone, so I asked. The associate was so disinterested, and I had to ask her to please check (OMG, here we go again.). She supposedly checked (don't think she did 'cause she was not gone long), and told me they were out. (Do I have to get pliers to pry more information out of this person?) By then, she quickly left and I went around the aisles to find her again and find out when they'd be back in stock and ask her another question, and she answered abruptly, obviously quite bored and disinterested. Don't know why she was even there - a store plant to frustrate shoppers? In the produce section, I finally tracked someone down to ask where an item was, and I was directed to a small kiosk which did not even have what I was looking for. Their organic section is very small, so if you're looking for healthy produce, try Trader Joe's or the Food Co-op. As for comparative shopping, unless it's on sale here, it's probably less expensive at another store. So if you do want to shop here and concerned about prices , I suggest going through their ads in the paper or online, picking out what you want, try to find it in the store, and then go shop at Target where you can easily find what you want at a great price. read more

I have 1 complaint. You have to print some coupons. Since we do not have a printer when in the area, we are not eligible for the thing we might want. We went to do a bit of shopping but also wanted the Maria Callender tv dinner. As we did not have the right coupons, we left the whole store in frustration and they did not get the rest of our sales. Very conscientious & helpful staff. My teenager often forgets to tell me she has run out of meds until the day of, and they are always accommodating! Also, they will text you when your prescriptions are ready, which is convenient. read more

Nice place for one-stop shopping. My primary choice for food shopping, basic supplies, and deli. They have an awesome superfood salad in the deli and a marinated flank steak at the meat counter that is amazing. Sometimes their produce is suspect, but isn't everyone's? Go to the farmers market or trader joes for that if you think you need to take an extra trip. The Fred Meyer rewards are perfect to use on gas and/or enjoy the cash back each month. read more

There's a great natural food selection! you can buy soy milk in bulk ! Kids can get a sample of fresh deli items and a free cookie from the bakery! Ok, if this Fred Meyer was the Bakerview Fred Meyer's twin sister, this one would be the ugly one. It wasn't as clean as the other one, a little dingy, frayed around the edges. I missed the mini-shopping carts too. But it still has my favorite natural choices section, same great deals and friendly service. I asked a cashier about the store rewards card, and she explained the benefits of the card very thoroughly to me while checking me out. All in all, the same great store, just not as flashy. read more

I know it might be weird to review a grocery store, but I like this place. They have everything I need and the prices are moderate. The place is kinda huge but I am getting used to it. There produce is nice, I like the frosting on their cupcakes and they have a good natural products section. I hate the crowds and the posts in the middle of some of the aisles. I just had to write a review for the Fred Meyer store because of the clam chowder they serve in the deli department. I don't know where they get it but it's great! 5 stars. Lots of clams, not too much potato like all the others. This is New England style clam chowder like Progresso used to be years ago. I've been a lifelong customer, but that is ending. The store simply cannot accommodate the new population. The Pharmacy here, is basically useless as they are the worst managed facility I have ever shopped from. In fact, the Pharmacy is SO poorly run, if you ask or complain at the Bakerview Pharmacy about the Lakeway one, they will agree with you and tell their own horror stories. The Pharmacy forgets to turn their phone on for up to an hour after opening at times. Pills are NEVER ready when they are supposed to be. Pharmacy staff has a very entitled attitude about what "you" the customer need, including withholding non narcotic medications from you "just in case you might be a drug addict". I had SUCH problems getting one medication filled at Lakeway, that I am currently getting that prescription at another store! My new insurance is accepted at Walgreens, and I am relishing in the moment that I get to go into Lakeway and tell them WHY! read more

Needs better management. Every time I shop there they are 'out' of half the things on my list. And please take the time to give baggers some tips. For example: If the customer hands you an insulated bag, the customer expects you to put the cold and or frozen items in that bag. and If the customer hands you multiple bags DO NOT stuff all the items in just one bag. and Always place fresh deli or meat items in a paper bag to catch and absorb leakage. read more

Part of my affection for Fred Meyer stems from the fact that I believe this is the second-oldest continuously operating grocery store in Bellingham, after the Haggen on Meridian. I still mourn the passing of Clark's Market at James and Alabama, the last of the locally-owned grocery stores in Bellingham. Since there are no locally-owned grocers any more, I now do the bulk of my shopping at Wal-Mart due to prices, but find Fred's prices to be reasonable on the many items that Wal-Mart does not carry. Also, I sometimes find even better prices on Kroger brand items (the Fred Meyer label) than at Wal-Mart. Plus, the pharmacy is astonishingly efficient. I can't speak about their prices, since I am covered by insurance, but they are quicker and more accurate than most other pharmacies I have used. read more

Best bang for your buck and one-stop shopping! Love it. They also quite frequently have courtesy clerks show you the shortest line, that's service. I really like this store. I have been shopping at this Freddy's for about 10 years. I used to like it before they remodeled it! But now it is not so great anymore! I hate what they did to it! Since they remodeled it, I cannot find anything! Some of the food is much more expensive here than at Winco of Trader Joe. Freddy's must be more reasonable with their prices, all they will suffer just like the grocery store across the street from them. That grocery store just went bankrupt and closed down! Some of their foods are really good, I love the Asian foods, and the healthy food section. The clothes are not so great, and a little bit expensive. The household items are also overpriced. Walmart has better prices. Anyway, I will continue to shop here but not that often. read more

Great experience. Pharmacist caught a prescription error made by the clinic. When the correct script was called in, the drug was unavailable. The pharmacist tried for an hour to locate some by calling numerous competitor pharmacies in Whatcom and Skagit County, and eventually arranged for the supplier to deliver it asap. He even offered my husband a chit for a sandwich and coffee in the deli during the wait. read more
