Firstly, they are the top technique school in the whole area. In researching studios for my Granddaughter, I discovered that all the teachers are highly educated in their fields of dance with backgrounds with Boston Ballet and Pennsylvania Ballet ( now known as the Philadelphia Ballet) Being a competition school, DAC always places high at these competitions and never fails to get the overall Technique Award. Teachers are knowledgeable and caring and all are talented choreographers. Students will come away well educated in dance as well as developing self-confidence. As a former professional ballerina, I could have chosen any number of schools but my choice for my Granddaughter is DAC.

This is a smaller adult oriented studio that offers both group and private ballroom instruction for both social and competitive dancers (not so much standard though). I've seen group classes but not personally taken them and people look like they're having fun. They also do seasonal showcases for people interested in performing without the pressure of competition. The studio itself is L shaped with several walls of mirrors and is fine for latin and social dancing. It's not a great space if you need to practice full on ballroom routines on a normal sized competitive floor (this comment is geared mainly towards s/s dancers) because there isn't the square footage you might need. The studio instructors who I don't know already or am not taking lesson with usually ignore me- they're not unfriendly but they don't say hi either. Social dances are not crowded, and the last time I went there was a relatively high girl to guy ratio- but snacks and drinks were included, yay.

I have been…read moredancing swing for nearly ten years and ballroom for six years, I have taken lessons from national and international champions, I am a certified teacher in my own right, and let me say no one else has provided instruction of such high quality as I have received here. The instructors, in addition to being accomplished dancers themselves, have a phenomenal understanding of the teaching process and produce consistently outstanding results among their students. The past few months I have been at the Academy have produced some of the best growth I have ever experienced as a dancer. That said, there are three downsides. The first is that the lessons are the most expensive of any studio in Philadelphia (though they are well worth the price). Second, the group classes are often at inconvenient times and focus on a very narrow range of dances. Third, the parties are rarely attended by the school's better dancers and are seriously weighted towards inexperienced women, with very, very few unattached men in attendance. None of these downsides, however, has even remotely dissuaded me from taking lessons here, and I highly recommend you do the same.

I was very excited to book my wedding dance prep lessons here. When I first called and booked the…read moreintro lesson, the folks answering the phones were very friendly. When the scheduled appointment got closer, I never received confirmation so the morning of, I called to make sure everything was still a go. The studio had told me they accidentally double booked the time they scheduled my fiancé and I for and we would need to reschedule (no biggie). As the rescheduled appointment approached, I called again proactively to make sure the appointment was still taking place and they asked me to reschedule again as the teacher was sick. The third time the appointment was rescheduled (I had to move it out a few days because something with work came up), and I AGAIN called myself the afternoon of the appointment to make sure things were finally a go for that evening, and the person who answered said they double booked our time slot for the THIRD time and that we could join the group class but there was no time for our scheduled individual lesson. I was really looking forward to going to this studio for our lesson but after the third time they messed up their scheduling, I cancelled for good and am taking my business elsewhere. I do not recommend this dance school unless: A. You really…read morelike financing favoritism And, B. You would like to see your child bullied Unless your child is a favorite, she/he will receive deficient instruction and no attention. My dancer is an accepted student at an arts high school, specifically in the dance program, and she is a scholarship intensive winner. She has only achieved this by attending a different dance school while still taking classes at Visions. When she started ballet and tap at a different dance school (she was waitlisted for ballet despite that she has been dancing at Visions for two years), the instructors at her new school pulled me aside to show me what kind of work was needed to fix her technique. Even time that should have been devoted to developing my dancer's contemporary and modern technique through the teaching and development of choreography for her--her competition solo private lessons--was so squandered that when I submitted a video of her performance to a respected intensive conservatory, they didn't even bother to invite her to audition for a lower level intensive, she was straight to the "waitlist." I then paid another choreographer/instructor for choreography and multiple private lessons to teach it, and the live performance of that piece immediately garnered my daughter admittance to and praise from pre-professional programs. Alongside the obvious lack of interest in technique is a laissez faire attitude towards bullying, and clear lack of appropriateness. "Favorite" dancers can speak badly about and bully other dancers, and there are no consequences. Some of these favorites bullied several dancers to the point that they left the studio entirely, despite being on the competition team. Reinforcing the status of the favorites are class and company placements, which are based on instructor whim or "tracking," seemingly derived from the amount of money a parent can spend at the school, and not dedication or class attendance. Some children are "tracked" to be held back from advanced classes or pointe, while favorites are fast-tracked, despite that their classroom attendance is spottier and their in-class time is spent on "messing around." Worse yet is treating a clique of children as one dancer, placing them in classes and dance company and on stage as though they all shared similar mastery, and treating their relationships as though it were a standard criterion for placement. Placing a group of children together in a Senior company despite that they are all middle school children and moving older children to dance with elementary schoolers because the middle school clique "dances well together" seems out of place in a so-called pre-professional dance company setting, as professional dancers rarely get to choose their stage mates. Overall I do not recommend this dance school. We enrolled there because it was very close to our home, but frankly I wish I had just taken some friends' recommendations and gone elsewhere in the beginning.

The way they structured a "social distancing class" for 2 year olds was great. We loved having Miss Jen and fast forward to this year our daughter is in her 2nd year of Creative Rhythm with Miss Jen. The dance company has a new location which didn't travel far from the previous location. it is located right off of county line and upper state road in Chalfont. The building is like night and day from their old spot! It's welcoming, clean, and each dance class room is brightly lit with windows/doors to "peek in" on the dancers doing their craft. My daughter feels so safe going to Babylon and enjoys making new friends (even at the age of 4). She is figuring out if she has a passion for dance, and I'm glad she is doing it here. The owners are always communicating with you about the fees/payments, exciting news, and class closures due to weather related issues. I also love that they let you "trial" a class for free before you commit! I would highly recommend this dance company to any parent trying to start their little one out

They have a large, beautifully decorated ballroom upstairs which makes you feel as if you are at a romantic wedding or prom. You will love it.
