They do an excellent job teaching the students dance. There is a booming business in this dance studio. They even have adult classes.

I do not recommend this dance school unless: A. You really…read morelike financing favoritism And, B. You would like to see your child bullied Unless your child is a favorite, she/he will receive deficient instruction and no attention. My dancer is an accepted student at an arts high school, specifically in the dance program, and she is a scholarship intensive winner. She has only achieved this by attending a different dance school while still taking classes at Visions. When she started ballet and tap at a different dance school (she was waitlisted for ballet despite that she has been dancing at Visions for two years), the instructors at her new school pulled me aside to show me what kind of work was needed to fix her technique. Even time that should have been devoted to developing my dancer's contemporary and modern technique through the teaching and development of choreography for her--her competition solo private lessons--was so squandered that when I submitted a video of her performance to a respected intensive conservatory, they didn't even bother to invite her to audition for a lower level intensive, she was straight to the "waitlist." I then paid another choreographer/instructor for choreography and multiple private lessons to teach it, and the live performance of that piece immediately garnered my daughter admittance to and praise from pre-professional programs. Alongside the obvious lack of interest in technique is a laissez faire attitude towards bullying, and clear lack of appropriateness. "Favorite" dancers can speak badly about and bully other dancers, and there are no consequences. Some of these favorites bullied several dancers to the point that they left the studio entirely, despite being on the competition team. Reinforcing the status of the favorites are class and company placements, which are based on instructor whim or "tracking," seemingly derived from the amount of money a parent can spend at the school, and not dedication or class attendance. Some children are "tracked" to be held back from advanced classes or pointe, while favorites are fast-tracked, despite that their classroom attendance is spottier and their in-class time is spent on "messing around." Worse yet is treating a clique of children as one dancer, placing them in classes and dance company and on stage as though they all shared similar mastery, and treating their relationships as though it were a standard criterion for placement. Placing a group of children together in a Senior company despite that they are all middle school children and moving older children to dance with elementary schoolers because the middle school clique "dances well together" seems out of place in a so-called pre-professional dance company setting, as professional dancers rarely get to choose their stage mates. Overall I do not recommend this dance school. We enrolled there because it was very close to our home, but frankly I wish I had just taken some friends' recommendations and gone elsewhere in the beginning.

Back in 1992, I moved from NYC, where I had been teaching dance for 20 years and trained with top…read moreschools like the Joffrey Ballet School, Broadway Dance Center and others. I trained many dancers who turned pro. When I came here, I could not find good schools close to where we moved. I found this school and it was wonderful. My daughter and I took classes there and were very impressed. It was hard to continue because it was a trip from where we lived, and during the weekdays, I was a single mom of 2, due to my husband's work away from home. I opened my own school, locally, and it was successful for 15 years, until I retired from ownership and passed it onto others. I retired, temporarily, from teaching (since 1973) due to bad knees. Once I had them replaced, I called the owner, who is a colleague of mine who had judged for me at my competition, to take some classes to get back to dance. She asked me to also teach. I've been teaching there and am still so impressed with, not only the professionalism, but the moral and ethics, that match mine, that I find are lacking in some schools, I love working there and how she, and the staff, truly care for the well-being of the dancers. Michelle will not abandon her ethics, just to make a parent, or child, happy. Her standards are too high, thank goodness. I am so happy, after the few years I took off from teaching and dancing, to be at this dance school. I love the fact that their annual student demo concert does not charge fees for costumes, or concert fee. Only ticket sales. It is run beautifully, and I love working with professional teachers who think like me and have the background of excellent training, not just as dancers, but as teachers. If you are looking for an ethical school for your child, or yourself, with people who care more about you than what you can bring to them, this is the place. Thanks, Michelle Wurtz, for bringing me on board, in my later years, and giving me back my passion and the joy of teaching, again.

The fact that this group has performed at Carnegie Hall, the Lincoln Center and at the Olympics tells me that their instruction and execution is first rate. I will continue to recommend this hidden gem to all of my friends in the area. The low cost for the quality of education my kids have received is amazing. Check them out.

With the help of group and private lessons, we surprised all of our guests with a sensational dance (that included a bunch of aerials). After our wedding, we continued lessons and will have many years of dancing with swing kat to come. It's a great way to get out and have fun.. even if you're not the best dancer to begin with. All of the instructors are incredible and welcoming. Definitely sign up for a class.. you will not regret it!

This is my favorite dancing venue in the area. I honestly am a little sad no one has reviewed it…read morealready, but am happy that I get to be the first one. What makes this the best place to dance? Hands down it is the friendly people. Everyone is super friendly and will ask you to dance. Even better there are a lot of great dancers here, but even if you are not, don't worry, the advanced dancers are very nice about dancing with you and showing you moves. The owners of this place, Faryl and Bijal are the sweetest people. What they never complain about and what people almost never see is that often they stay for 2-3 hours after the dance to clean up the facilities by themselves. One night I was chatting with Bijal and decided to stay and help clean while continuing our chat. I looked up and it was incredibly late and we were only half done (needless to say, I stayed and finished helping because I couldn't bear thinking about how tired they both must have been). On a happier note, one reason why it takes so long to clean is because the dance floor and venue is HUGE! It is by far the best and biggest dance floor in the area. Some people like it cozy, but I like room to really dance it out and do all my hand and arm motions without hitting anyone. The place is a little old, but has an old world charm to it. The music is always wonderful, but it is a rotating DJ system. This is a great thing, however, because there are multiple people doing the job, you get to experience a variety of music at a multitude of tempos with a myriad of attitudes. The food offered is usually just simple snacks, but on special occasions, they usually have an amazing spread. A lot of times people will bring their favorite dishes and pitch in. As stated earlier it is a very tight community. I really just can not say enough good things about this place. A quick tip: Although closer street parking is available, there is a parking lot on the corner, about half a block away (I hate walking, so I always take a chance I will find something closer hahaha).
