During the planning stage of our visit to Prague, I researched restaurants local to our hotel and…read morechose Mincovna in old town. Despite our reservation, the place seemed relatively empty. We are early diners and the only couple near us were also Americans on holiday. Our server spoke excellent English and guided us through the menu choices. After an appetizer of tomatoes and cucumbers in a light dressing, I ordered the sirloin in cream and my wife the trout filet. The food, like the service, was superb. Our server surprised us with a complimentary "shot" of a very strong Czeck liqueur at the end of the meal. we had a grand time and hope you will too!!

It was a pleasant walk from the Hilton Atrium Hotel, and the weather was beautiful. We arrived and were immediately seated and brought menus. The decor is nothing special, and it spoke to a nice Czech restaurant vibe. Our server was very good, promptly returning to get our drink order (I had a glass of Chardonnay and we both had waters). We were not super hungry, so we bypassed the appetizer and salad selections and went straight for the entree menu. My wife chose the Goulash and I selected the Grilled Chicken Breast. Our meals arrived shortly, and they were both hot. My wife loved the Goulash, which was accompanied by two large potato dumpling pieces. The gravy was thick and flavorful and the meat was fork-tender and delicious. My Chicken was a bit tough, but had pretty good flavor with the sauce. It was also served with a side of Gnocchi, that paired nicely with the dish. The advertised cauliflower and peas were a bit sparse, but the Gnocchi made up for it. Service was very good, with our water glasses refilled frequently and servers asking if everything was good. Overall, we really enjoyed our meal, though the Chicken could have been a bit more tender. If we get back to Prague, we would definitely like to come back and try one of the Duck dishes as well as the goose liver pate' appetizer. Ambiance - 9/10 Service - 10/10 Food - 9/10 Value - 10/10

I came for the vegetarian food but I was stunned by how gorgeous the restaurant is. The room that I…read morewas in had glowing tables, the ceiling painted to look like a starry sky with glowing stars, and a "window" playing a video view of the river. Other rooms had more of a forest theme. Evidently this is a popular place. I didn't make a reservation, but they told me I could have a table for 1h15 which was plenty of time since the service was timely. I had the grilled broccoli with Jerusalem artichoke puree for my entree and the "snickers" bar for dessert. The broccoli dish was simple but tasty and surprisingly filling for a plate of nothing besides cooked vegetables. The broccoli and carrot were cooked perfectly with crispy caramelized edges and the artichoke puree was delicious. I wouldn't really recommend this dish for anyone skeptical about vegetarian/vegan food, but it's great if you love vegetables, and there are other dishes on the menu that will appeal to those who want something more substantial. I initially didn't plan on dessert but was glad I decided to get something because the snickers bar was delightful. I also had a beetroot lemonade that I enjoyed. It's a little expensive, but I felt like I got what you paid for both in the quality of the food and overall experience.

Everything we ordered was delicious: * Tofuie Gras: smoked tofu paté with cranberry gel, served on toasted bread * Czech Traditional Svíčková: root vegetable sauce with Carlsbad dumplings, plant-based meat patty, lemon, and cranberry gel * Jackfruit Burrito: pulled jackfruit, smoked corn, chipotle rice, Cheddar, pickled cabbage, black beans, mango salsa, sour cream, and a side salad * Vegan Snickers: chocolate-caramel bar with raspberry sauce and peanuts I would consider becoming vegetarian if I can eat like this for every meal.

This is a great place to enjoy with a group. Unlike the pubs in other countries, no tv or music so don't expect this to be a sports bar.

If you are looking for a very lively place that seats about thirteen hundred guests per day and has twelve tanks of beer, and the beer hall vibe then this spot is most certainly for you. Close to the Old Town square it is not at all touristy, the service is good and the prices are very fair for what you get. K ordered the Goulash, and I had the Chicken Schnitzel along with a beetroot salad to share. The food was plentiful and very good, especially the goulash gravy which was a deep colour that had amazing flavour. The schnitzel was not as big as the plate, but I couldn't finish it. K had a glass of wine and I a beer for about $64 CDN, which is good in Prague. Our only quibble was that the beetroot salad turned into a cabbage salad with horseradish. It was also good, but not what we ordered. We would most certainly come back and endure the half hour wait to experience and enjoy what is a somewhat unique European offering.
