Went to new hope to dine and walk around, unfortunately we decided to go to Fran's. The best way I could describe the calamari is fried rubber. The pierogis were subpar at best. The pina colada was flavorless, and the burger was dry. I really had higher hopes, but was highly dissatisfied. read more

Understaffed and unorganized bar. We went on Pride and knew most places would be really busy and slow, but this sunk even below those low expectations. We never got an app and two beers we ordered and just asked our server to take them off the bill before we got it. She was apologetic and not even aware we hadn't gotten those orders. Clearly a lack of communication between the servers and other staff. Our server was also working a ton of tables and understandably overwhelmed. We saw a few other people get up and leave after no one ever came to their tables. This bar really should be better organized and staffed for a big event like Pride. The food was decent enough (pretty standard bar food), which bumps this up to three stars, despite the disorganization. read more

Great place! My buddy brought me to New Hope from about an hour and a half away just to go to Fran's. I wasn't disappointed. Great atmosphere. Great People. Great bartenders. Nothing there annoyed me and there aren't many places that I can say that about. I will be back. Thanks Fran's. read more

A solid 3 stars for food. Extra star for a great outdoor seating area right on main street and bargain prices (for New Hope). Previous reviewers who label this place expensive need to realize that everything in New Hope is expensive so relatively speaking prices aren't bad. Check the other restaurants, many 33% higher for the same thing. The only thing I thought was a bit chintzy was $2 for a 12 oz ice tea with no refills. At least they could increase the cup size to 24 or 32oz if no refills! The ice tea is Lipton's so their cost is only pennies here. Had the Pastrami sandwich, was good. Portions and service were good as well. Definitely will go to Fran's again. Related New Hope note: rode my motorcycle there. Good parking on the street right in front of Fran's. Even managed to get out of town before the noise Nazi's (police) started giving out baseless tickets. Ironic since riding along the Delaware River means alot of bikers stop here in the summer and spend quite a bit of money on lunch and misc stuff from the other businesses. read more

They charged me for an item that was sent back to the kitchen. I have been calling to get it off my credit card for 6 days now and they continue to tell me a manager is not there, they cannot do anything about it, and that the manager will return my call. The manager has not called me back in 6 days and I am beyond frustrated. Do not go to this restaurant. ....it is now 9/16 and no one has contacted me still or changed the charge on my card even though they replied saying they would contact me... THEY DIDN'T!!! read more

Once again, another great experience at Fran's! We took our newborn up to Lambertville/New Hope for the first time on Saturday, and went right to Fran's, after parking in the Triumph lot. We ordered the steamed clams, which were some of the best I've ever had, and a spinach white pizza, to which we added mushrooms and meatballs. The Miller Lites are cheap, the pizza is tasty. Ambiance is great, and you can sit outside. We fed the baby, and all was well. The only thing that I ding them for, now that I'm a parent, is that the bathrooms don't have any sort of changing station. Small, I know, but I have to evaluate the whole package, right? read more

Some of our group had the Tuesday night crab legs & loved them. Two of us enjoyed pizza & one person had chicken saltimboca and loved it. Several people had beers. Good service & enjoyable atmosphere but it was chilly tonight. We love to come for crab Tuesdays every now and then. read more

i'd say fran's is pretty mediocre. biggest plus: location. the outside seating and outdoor bar make fran's a prime location for people-watching (my fave) in new hope. if you've never done it, you should. the bar is what you'd expect from a typically divey sort -of place. the LITs are decent. everything is served in plastic cups. i've only eaten at fran's a few times, and the meals have been forgettable and unremarkable. i wouldn't recommend coming hear just to eat- there are so many places within walking distance that serve up a better meal. overall, pretty okay. come for the location and some casual drinkies. read more

The waitress Shaye we had was superb and couldn't have asked for a better experience during our meal go wildcats!

I really liked this place - very nice bartenders who despite it being insanely packed, kept an eye on my bottle and made sure I was always full up. They just redid the bathrooms and they are very nice and clean. They are dog friendly and will bring your pupper a bowl of water. If you look youngish - be prepared to be IDed. We didn't eat but the pizza looked really good (remember I'm down in Cherry Hill so any other than south Jersey/Philly pizza looks good). I will definitely go back. read more

Popped into Fran's for a spot of lunch during the holidays. The menu looked good and there were folks inside so we went for it. The food was alright - had the Stromboli which was loaded with pepperoni and cheese. But, there was almost no seasoning other than what was in the ingredients, so it wasn't very flavorful. The worst part, dropped this from a 3 to a 2 star review, was the service. It took 20 minutes for me to get a beer! How hard is it to fill a glass? Once our order was taken the food came out pretty fast, but it was like pulling teeth to get anyone's attention. Once we got the check it took another 20 minutes for it to get processed, and that was only because someone other than our server did it. Seriously some of the worst service I've ever dealt with. Wouldn't recommend this place. read more

The pizza I had was the "New York" pizza. It was "meh". Nothing special, though I did see the girl at the next table with a amazing looking nacho dish. Overall this bar is just your ave bar food joint. Don't expect much and you won't be disappointed. This bar's atmosphere doesn't suit my personality, but people here love this place so I wanted to try this place out. read more

Not your cheapest option for food and drinks in New Hope. They have outdoor seating overlooking Main St. A nice place to hang out if you want to relax with a drink and people watch. Good selection of beer, but again a bit pricey. The menu is nothing fancy - lots of basic bar type food and some entree options. The pizza is really good, other dishes are just average. It can be very hard to park nearby during popular times. read more

I hate writing bad reviews, but food was not good. Don't order the pizza or burgers. The buffalo chicken pizza was undercooked and too oily, and the chicken tasted off. The burger was okay, but it was very dry. We didn't eat most of our food because it was that bad. Sorry, but we won't be going back! read more

This is the place to go in New Hope! They renovated and added more room . I had my daughters 30 th birthday here and the owner Karen made it a memorable event. The food was excellent . Our guest were all raving on how nice it was. Fran's is not only a neighborhood bar/ restaurant it is family owned and represents generations of Expertise. Planning an event , book Fran's , you won't be disappointed. Strolling around New Hope make Fran's you dinning choice. Yum read more

This is one of those places that we have walked by a bunch of time and thought "hey that looks like a cool place." But never went in. I have been to Fran's Pub plenty of times and it almost seems that I should have written a yelp review long time ago. I love their burgers but almost always order their white pizza with tomatoes. Crust is delicious and taste is so good...The service sucks and it's not the staff it is the kitchen that makes this place sucky. We waited for the pizza for about 45 minutes and our poor waitress was so apologetic and refilled our soda about 3 times before pizza arrived. Granted its a pub and the outdoor seating is fantastic but the place needs more managers and they definitely need to do some updating inside their bar area. Overall I will be back but with a little more time to spare. read more

I stopped by Fran's on a beautiful summer afternoon for lunch. I thought the food was just OK - nothing worth writing home about, I suppose average bar/pub-ish food from what I saw. This was the worst experience I've ever had. I ordered pierogies for $8 and received fried, wonton style, bland pierogies w/ sauteed vegetables over top. No salt, no pepper, no seasoning. Bland, and honestly gross, dish that was underportioned and over priced. Never again. read more

Had a good time at this place on a Saturday afternoon. Our server, Hunter, was extremely attentive and never left our glasses empty. He even, despite no typed drink menu, went through the trouble of researching 5 drink options for us. The prices were completely reasonable, if not low, for New Hope. As for the bikers, it does attract quite a few and for the record, they are delightful and welcoming more than most others. read more

Love this friendly place. Awesome outdoor bar and free food during happy hour. The bartender was great and made the best martinis.

I have been in the food and beverage industry for 7+ years. I am a very patient and tolerant customer as I understand the industry and how busy it can get; however, I completely lost my patience at this restaurant. First of all, my mother ordered the Mac and cheese, which was delicious, but did not come out for at least 30-40 minutes after everyone else's meals. Everyone at the table had received their food (two meals were wrong and had to be sent back) and the server lied 2-3 times saying the food would be right out even though she clearly never entered the ordered in on time. I understand people make mistakes, but the fact she did not smile or check on us once while we were eating upset me. It seemed like she did not want to be there and was taking it out on us. My sister has Down's syndrome and we could see the staff making fun of her while she was struggling to sit. They kept looking at us and laughed several times while we were there which made us very uncomfortable. When we got the check, we were charged for the Mac and cheese. I understand if you order something and eat it you should pay for it.. but the server never once offered to have the manager speak to us or seemed apologetic at all. When we asked to speak to the manager (who happens to be the "owners son") he was EXTREMELY disrespectful and accused us of not ordering the dish, even though we did. After 20+ min of the owner arguing and insulting us, we finally paid. Now here's the worst part of our experience - it was thunderstorming in New Hope this day to the point where we could not walk outside. When we paid the check, the owner's son told us to leave the restaurant and to wait outside in the cold & rain because we were a "pain in the ass." Seriously? We had a 1 year old baby and a stroller with us. On top of this, he charged us more than we were supposed to be charged. I think he changed the check amount after we left. We are in the process of calling our bank to reverse this. This is the worst establishment I have ever been to. If you're ever in the area and want to try it - don't. The owner should be embarrassed and I'm surprised this place is still in business. By the way, this is my first and only yelp review. That's when you know I'm upset. read more

To be honest I'm not sure why there was a lot of people sitting here. I think it's a popular & loyal spot for most of the bikers that ride in the area, but personally I wouldn't be back. The staff was VERY nice, nothing wrong with them at all. Everyone had masks on doing their part. However, what kind of dimmed my experience was when my table ordered a Spinach Dip appetizer and the Calamari. It came out, and I literally laughed out loud. It was basically a GIANT plate of chips that were definitely sitting in a bag somewhere (not warm or salted at all) and a SMALL .. and I mean SMALL container of Spinach Dip. The Dip was the same size as the dipping container for the calamari. It was absolutely humorous. For what the bill came out to, I was expecting a lot more with my order OR for it to at least be better. I could have purchased that at the grocery store and made it at home to be honest. It tasted like one of the spinach dips that comes in a frozen box. I was definitely disappointed with it. We didn't even order any more food cause if thats how the apps came out we were pretty fearful of what the rest was gonna look like. The calamari was also nothing to remember. Pretty much had no flavor and wasn't really that crispy or hot when it came to the table. I had the Key Lime Pie martini too, it was okay however it wasn't shaken long enough so I was biting pieces of ice as I was trying to drink it. Flavor was good but please shake that bad boy longer and harder! Lol Also, if you dont smoke cigarettes and hate the smell of cigarettes at the dinner table DONT go here. They allow smoking in the sidewalk section but all of the cigarette smoke from people blows directly back into the restaurant. Listen, Ive also smoked cigarettes for a solid 10 years of my life now and I still don't wanna smell no damn cigarette while I'm trying to eat a meal .. so I can only imagine what a non-smoker would feel like trying to eat here. Not to mention we were sat at a table that was in direct sunlight, so I was sweating the entire time as I was trying to enjoy any part of my meal and was basically blind from the sun. I know that they can't really help that the sun exists, I get that, but there was a couple of other tables open that they could've sat us. I understand most waiters are on rotation, I used to serve myself so I understand it doesn't always work like that, but I do feel as if they could've sat us at another table given the amount of tables that were open instead of sitting us directly in the sunlight on a hot day. Overall ... You can tell the place needs a boost. I do not blame the staff or anything. And I also don't blame the chef for how my spinach dip came out, I'm sure it has everything to do with management at the end of the day because that's usually the true issue behind everything in most restaurants. Please remember to tip well and big at this time. I just had to leave an honest review on my experience. read more

If I could give this place no stars I would! I was with a group of about 10 people (ALL OVER 21) saturday night and we had went over to Frans to just have a drink so of course when we were all carded and we didn't hesitate to show ID. I was one of the last people to hand my ID to the bartender Madison and then I watched her perform what they described as the "Bend Test" turns out she's so good at her job she BROKE my REAL ID. AFTER she snaps it, she looks at me and asks for a second form? Are you serious? I gave her my debit card but then I was asking her why she was violently bending my ID and she had said "if it is out of state we have to do a bend test" I get that... but to bend my ID with almost the intent to break it just to see if it would? Thats out of line. THEN to have all of the other workers tell me "If it were real, it wouldnt have broke" WELL IT DID AND ITS STILL REAL. In 19 months of being over the legal drinking age I have NEVER had any bartender do to my ID what she did. There was no manager to speak with that night so when I called yesterday MULITPLE people kept leading me on telling me the manager would be back soon and would call. Did he.....Nope. I even asked to speak with the owner and was told "She's on vacation, and if you call her YOU'RE not going to have a good day" Excuse me? Yea, I don't think so... Thanks Frans for the major inconvenience and for humiliating me when we were supposed to be having a good time! Unprofessional. Unprofessional. UNPROFESSIONAL. read more
