Served undercooked food 3 times out of 3 times there. Laundromat next door was a plus. Wanted to love.

Went on a Friday night. My wife and I both had the fried shrimp with baked potato. It also came with coleslaw, beans and fruit fluff. Our baked potato's were not cooked. They were microwaved before serving and hard as a rock, sent them back and could hear the microwave again. Still not done and cold in 30 seconds as most microwave food is. You mean you can't cook some potatoes ahead of time in a Nesco? The shrimp were fine but cold. Overall the food was edible but less than average on way over $30.00 for two folks. read more

We come here a lot. It's in our general rotation of diners in the area. We have always have great food and service...until today. We arrived and there was maybe two other tables taken. An older man came in when we did, and an elderly couple came in after us. We had water, I ordered a special, and my husband a normal breakfast . I finished my water, the man and the couple both received their food before we did. We sat and waited. Waitress was not busy. It was 20-25 minutes. Hadnt checked on us, hadnt apologized for the wait. Our food was good. But husband said no tip would be given. Thats why I took one star off, for today. I realize there is a shortage of workers in hospitality, but there wasn't any reason for ignoring customers. I hope they resolve the issue before it impacts the business. The food's your classic greasy spoon restaurant. Solid options and prices, but they somehow managed to both burn AND undercook the bacon. Also, not the most attentive to orders with a 1/4 success rate on egg, toast, and hash brown preferences. Would eat here again if I'm killing time, but wouldn't go out of my way. read more

I was hesitant coming here because it had one star but then I realized there were only two reviews from three years ago. I had Country fried steak, potatoes, English muffin and scrambled eggs. Seriously one of the best breakfasts I've had. Nothing exotic, just great quality, taste and portion size... And they use real butter. read more

Oxford is a small town but worth the trip if only to stop at Frannie Mays Cafe. Never have I ever had a better grilled cheese. The Stuffed Grilled Cheese is bacon, ham, tomato and cheese served on sour dough bread. Amazing. Served with tasty side of fries. Frannie Mays is the place to go! read more

We go there about once a week for breakfast. The food is excellent and the service is fantastic.

We stopped for breakfast on the way home from staying in the dells on a girls weekend. The service was excellent and the waitress was very attentive, the coffee was always full and prior to our meal she came around with a plate of muffins for us! Worst breakfast of my life! After waiting 45 minutes for my food it came out disgusting,whites of eggs were runny,bacon was as close to raw as possible, hash browns were cold and white no browning. For a small town restaurant, they do very well. Very good breakfasts, a good variety of lunch sandwiches and hot lunches. We were recently introduced to this restaurant and have been back at least 8 times. Reasonably priced for the post Covid times. We've never had a bad meal. read more

I do not know why this is rated so low. It has good basic food at excellent, fair prices. The menu is set up alacart and you add sandwiches and sides separately. We were there on a Friday and they looked to be doing a good fish fry with a few twists. In addition to fried cod and baked cod, they had walleye and salmon cakes and a bit more. We were there lunch time and wanted more traditional lunch. The BLT was well made with lots of bacon. The stuffed tomato, bacon, and ham grilled cheese was the ultimate in comfort food. With a root beer float and slice of pie, who could go wrong? Service might have been a bit slow, but with one waitress and a great view of the river, who cars? read more

We loved eating here! Stopped in for a late brunch and walked away full and happy after eating some hash browns, a delicious omelet (me), and biscuits and gravy (my partner). We also each took a slice of pie home and they were DELICIOUS. Would definitely recommend the cherry and strawberry rhubarb! Our service was awesome and the waitress was very on top of making sure we had everything we needed and our coffee mugs were kept full. Was dissapointed, I mean the WHOLE town talks about this place, but as this is the only real breakfast place near, we tried it. Have to agree with the one reviewer who said the food tasted "canned", no real flare there...and we were told the place was sold not to long ago..the attraction of seeing Maggie Mae is not like it used to be. I have eaten here several times now since I have moved into town. The food is great and very reasonable priced. Now would think getting in there enough to have staff start to recognize me as a local and regular. Guess that isn't true. Today my service was so bad that I needed to put a review and doubt I will be going back there now. The waitress I had really didn't care I was there very rude didn't bother to see if I had coffee instead sat down and ate her own meal while I had no coffee and my food sat and got cold. The fish fry was one of the best I have ever had. I got the haddock, and it was hot and crispy. Baked beans were delicious, and the coleslaw was rich and creamy. You also get potatoes and dessert. I will go back. read more

While working in the area Maggie Mae's was recommended to me.. After eating there three times (One of the few places in town), I would have to say I do not agree with most of the reviews. The Bumble Berry Pie is very good but the rest of the menu and quality is lacking. I received meals any where from bland average to frozen garbage. They pre-portion and freeze the sandwich meet then nuke it to order so you get either frozen centers or mushy over irradiated mush. In all cases it was mostly void of flavor. Oh and a sandwich, soda, and fries was over $10. In fairness I was told their breakfast was the best meal they served but on the day I was there they stopped serving breakfast at 11am. So at 11:05 they would not make breakfast.. Oh yeah the customer service is lacking also.. read more

This is one of those places that seems to be run by well-meaning folks who just don't get it. Our server seemed pleasant enough, but puzzled at how her life had brought her to this. Roast beef hash breakfast special was mushy and smothered in gravy, sunny side eggs seriously undercooked. In fairness I rarely find anyplace that cooks a sunny side egg properly any more, but I forget and order them anyway. The tale of local country music personality Maggie Mae provides a little distraction. Pecan pancakes over-leavened in a misguided approximation of fluffiness. Reuben sandwich contained a single thick slice of corned beef and had the thousand island dressing served in a pouch on the side. Wonderful, fun breakfast joint. Inexpensive "greasy Spoon" Breakfast food, Which is what you want for a vacation breakfast (personally). Low reviews come from an extremely unpleasent hostess. Don't go there on a Friday night for fish fry, the first time there it took 3 times for my fish to come out cooked, breading was runny and the fish stuck together, sent back twice. when I finally received cooked, it was good. the 2nd time I went I took family, 5 of us, 4 of us got fish, granddaughter got chicken strips. the fish dinners were all way overcooked, didn't look like they were breaded, small pieces, like they were stretching what was left. Also said they were out of the cowboy beans and the fluff desert that also comes with. Called the waitress over and she says, well were out of fish, so we could order something else, we had already waited approximately 30 minutes to order as she was the only waitress. Also took approximately 30 to 45 minutes to receive the order, didn't want to wait again. They did eventually charge us only for my granddaughters meal and just the drink. Stay away, the owner isn't like most, as I mentioned to her about the 1st time there as I paid my bill, she rang me up the first time I was there, and she laughed when I mentioned to her it took 3 times to get my food cooked.
