    1/2 a small pepperonis

We passed Little Ceasars for this local hole in the wall spot. When they had no public bathroom, I should have left. My kids really wanted pizza though so we ordered 2 small pepperonis and a medium spicy Ricky Boi Special, and medium hamburger steak pizza. Tasted freezer burn in both medium pizzas. The kids didn't finish their pizzas. Disappointed.

    Delicious pizza!!

I came across Frankie's Pizza after Yelping for a place for lunch. My boyfriend and I had just got done with some long walking around Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. It was such a wonderful couple of hikes that left us hungry and ready for some food! Frankie's Pizza was the first pizza place that came up. There is limited parking in the front of the building and it is located on a main road; Siri directed us to a road that is behind Frankie's Pizza. When we got out of the car, I found the place to appear small. I was correct in my thinking once we'd walked in. Frankie's Pizza has a very plain interior. When you walk in, you immediately notice there is no seating within the building. This was slightly disappointing as you can order a hot pizza. You can order a pizza to take home to bake yourself and that will actually cost you a dollar less. My boyfriend and I wanted the pizza hot and ready to go; we didn't want to have to drive 25-minutes to our AirBnB. The wait was not long. We got a medium pizza with normal crust, red sauce, mozzarella, spinach and mushrooms. We also ordered a side of Alfredo fries. We were pleasantly surprised that it only took fifteen minutes for our order to be ready! After collecting our order, we decided to just eat in the car. I've got to admit, the Alfredo fries were slightly disappointing. The fries themselves were pretty good. There were so few fries though and the Alfredo sauce was okay. It lacked some flavor and the fries were swimming in the sauce that almost looked more like a glaze. We did eat all the fries, but mostly out of hunger. The pizza was eons better! The bottom of the crust was very crunchy and the proportion of it to sauce and toppings was ideal. Loved the flavor of the mozzarella! Overall, Frankie's is a great place to grab pizza. Not sure I'd recommend the Alfredo french fries. If you're needing something to go, this is great! If you're looking for a sit-down, this isn't the place, but it definitely should still be considered! The pizza was very very good!

We were looking to forgo our fancy dinner reservations after a rainstorm hit! This spot was exactly the comfort food we needed. The wait time was 30 min for walk-in orders. The workers were nice and informative about the menu. 4 stars because the dough was a bit chewy and thin. The flavors were fresh and delicious! We got half boss and pineapple- The ham and pineapple was our favorite.

I'm absolutely blown away by this adorable pizza shop! First walking in, it was the cleanest pizza shop I've ever been too! Their pizza was perfect, not greasy at all. We got 2 large pepperoni and 1 calzone. We love their dough! We live down the road and we will be a customer for life, if they keep it consistent.

I found Frankie's Pizza last week and was so pleasantly surprised at how fantastic it was. They have a couple by the slice options and both of the types they had were excellent one had an Alfredo sauce with crispy chicken on the top that tasted like kalua pork it was amazing. I actually like it so much I stop back in on my way back home.

The staff working at the cafe were so kind and still hooked us up with some caffeine, even though they were technically already closed - we really appreciated that. We got our coffee (good but nothing extraordinary tbh) and a snack, chatted a bit with the owner, and then decided to explore the grounds instead of sitting indoors the entire time. It was so fun to wander through the little shop (with their "please touch" policy) and gallery, check out the outdoor dining areas, meet one of the famous NZ bunnies (I think there were supposed to be 2 though..?), and walk through their forest and gardens. Even on a slightly rainy and damp day, the outdoor walk was enjoyable. The space is whimsically decorated with art, sculptures, and local products for sale, and at times it gave off an Alice in Wonderland vibe. We're not sure when we'll be back in this area or on Big Island in general, but if/when we are I'd love to return and explore again.

We stayed here for 2 nights, dined at both restaurants and woke up and had breakfast to the view of Kilauea. Upon check in, we received complimentary mimosas (one per person). The room itself was fine but the view was excellent (you can see Kilauea from our window). It was clean, sheets were clean and the queen bed was comfortable enough. No air conditioning so we left the windows open during the day time and during the evenings, we used the little fan. On the last night, we made a makeshift window unit by cracking it open a bit and putting the fan there to blow in the cool evening air. It worked better than we expected. On our last day, the bathroom sink started to smell like sewers but since we were checking out and didn't spend much time using the bathroom, it didn't bother us as much. The bathroom amenities are full sized. The lotion smelled divine but the hand soap smelled like olives. It was fine though and did the job. I cannot think of a more perfect way to enjoy nature! We did some hikes, a few trails will lead you back to the hotel. They have a couple of shops for souvenirs, odds and ends, and snacks. The staff were super friendly and helpful.

The restaurant is inside the very old classic Volcano Lodge; complete with wood fireplace. Staying in the lodge made it simple to have meals; we ate at the Rim two nights, one night at the more casual Lodge restaurant Uncle Georges Lounge. All meals were prepared very well. For the first meal, we ordered a couple of Mai Tais that were nicely flavorful. For appetizers, I can recommend the Furikake Seared Ahi; gently seared with very flavorful colorful condiments. Plus, the portion was relatively generous as well. The chef's entree special was an amazing local fish prepared attractively and tasting marvelous. For our second night, the volcano was no longer erupting and the crowds of watchers had left so the meal was far less hectic. Did a less extravagant meal of Big Island Stuffed Chicken (great stuffing of Feta cheese and greens!) and it was a great choice. (I had the Seared Ahi again!) Straying from fish my partner went with the perfectly grilled 12 oz Hawaiian beef ribeye. Finished up with a fun crème brûlée with lots of burnt sugar!. Not a restaurant to drive 1-2 hours to, but if you find yourself on the mountain, well-worth stopping for a great meal here. but try to get there when the volcano isn't erupting or you'll be trampled, pushed, and find nowhere to park.

We were a party of three and all of us had the ribeye. First off they were out of asparagus so we had wilted spinach and fennel. So overly salted and the mash potatoes, they had to come from a box!!! The bread was good but the butter was excellent, the only reason this is getting two starts was our waiter and the butter!!! Our meal for three people nothing to drink but water the three ribeyes and one dessert for our 13 year old was 229.00. I don't mind paying for dinner when it's edible but we left almost all our steak on the plates and the waiter didn't even ask why. My recommendation is have dinner at the other restaurant get the view and pay way less. If you look at my review for tonight's dinner you will see I don't leave reviews just when it's bad. We had dinner in Kona tonight at fish hopper and it was excellent service and food with an amazing view as well.
