This place is a little bit of a toss up for me. On the plus side we have prices, availability, and service. On the minus side, we have wait time, and quality. Here's the rundown: I drive past this place quite often, and every time I drive by I remember one of my friends reprimanding me with an alarmed voice "You haven't been to Frankie's Pizza?!". So, that plays in my head whenever I see the Frankie's sign on the road. I know I have been there before, but not reviewed it. I stepped in just to order a slice of pepperoni pizza. I then remember the sized, so I requested two slices. I was in a bit of a hurry so I ordered the simplest. But the simplest needed time to cook to perfection... lots of time. I got my pizza to go, and it was like eating a cheesy toast with pepperoni on top, the dough being a mix of white bread and Cuban bread. It was buttery, cheesy, crunchy like a crouton, there was a lot going on. I wasn't really thrilled, I'm still confused as to why they call this pizza. I tried, it's OK, but it is also different. So, maybe you decide? Frankie's Pizza has been in the same location for decades. It is a go to place for locals and it is clearly a community hub, great for kids who want pizza and soda, as Frankie's offers several flavors ready to make, and they have a lot of sodas available. Having been here in 50 years and visitors Miami for a friend 52nd anniversary so had to stop in and have the best pizza I can remember. Did the half baked and it was perfect. Great crust and cupped pepperoni with mushrooms and anchovies. Did the garlic knots. Just perfect. Nice guys behind the counter making pies and fast as they can. This staple of Miami food culture delivered all it is supposed to be. The place is small but it does have a charming outdoor eating courtyard. The pizza is made fresh every few minutes and they are constantly busy with walk-in and phoned-in orders. The pizza is amazing with a medium thick crust that is light and slightly crispy. The tomato sauce and cheese are perfectly balanced and additional toppings like the pepperoni we added to ours was abundant and super flavorful. The pizzas are priced spot-on for what you get, a delicious hot out of the oven pizza! The service was by far the best part our experience. Everyone is friendly, helpful, and they love what they do! I've been coming here since 1984. I remember when an old Mr. Frank had a heart attack in the 80s and he couldn't work very much anymore and he was just there folding boxes. This place has always been the same. High-quality pizza, great toppings, soda, cans and the counter where you order it. It's always been some of the best pizza I've ever had in my life. I have a message for people who leave nasty reviews; You don't know what you're talking about. I've been going here for 42 years. I'll say tit again you don't know what you're talking about. I did not really know this place existed until I stumbled into it while looking for a u haul office- it was inside Frankies! While i took care of my errand, of course the smell of fresh pizza was irresistible and had to get a slice! It was just a tiny one, with pepperoni & pineapple, it definitely hit the spot! While I waited, i met a lady who introduced herself as the owner's daughter. Her parents passed, and she runs the business, she was so sweet, helpful, and loved learning about the history of this place. I ordered from Frankie's Pizza and was told my order would be ready in about 20 minutes. When I arrived, they let me know there had been a mix-up and my pizza was accidentally given to someone else. They immediately apologized and said they could have a fresh one ready in 10 minutes. What really stood out was when my pizza was ready, they gave it to me on the house. I wasn't expecting that at all, and it truly meant a lot. Mistakes happen, but how a business handles them is everything. This is exactly how you turn a mishap into a loyal customer. My two favorites were their prices and the ability to take your pie and finish the baking process at home. The crust was nice and crispy. After driving by multiple times past Frankie's Pizza and seeing that flashy sign, we've decided to give it a try, specially because it's celebrating 70 years of being in business. First of all, this pizzeria is mainly a take out place. They do have some tables out back which you will see in the pictures, but it still take out, because there aren't any waiters. You can eat it there after you do your take out instead of driving and eating it at home. They do sell half baked so you can finish baking it at home and eating it fresh out of the oven, for which they give you instructions on how to finish cooking it at home. We decided on purchasing fully cooked pizza and eating it out back to taste it at its freshest. We got one cheese pizza and one pepperoni pizza. The pizza was good. Medium thickness and crunchy crust....probably a bit too crunchy, which my kids didn't appreciate. The sauce was really good. Tasted like fresh tomatoes which I really liked. It wasn't very cheesy which I probably should have asked for extra cheese so that's on me. The pepperoni was very good as well. After all, there are many styles and ways to cook pizza etc etc so it falls down to preference. I'm glad we gave this long standing staple of miami a try. Maybe will give a half backed pizza a try someday and ask for extra cheese next time. As far as service, it was excellent. They were very kind and they even gave my children a cup with a chrysalis to watch a butterfly hatch at home. The place is small and very clean. All I can say is give this place a try and decide for your self if it's the type of pizza you like. Almost forgot to mention that the pizzas are square shaped, not that that really matters. The food here especially the pizza is very good. The slice of pizza that they have or slices come in square sizes that are small which are $2.25 per slice not the triangular ones that come in big slices. I only had one slice just to try it out. It was very good. It's a small establishment where you just sit inside to wait for your pizza you can probably eat inside they have sodas of course I think they also have energy drink drinks like Gatorade and probably monster drinks. I'm not sure but they also have dessert. I think they have cold dessert like ice cream and warm dessert such as pies just look in the menu to see what they have. A small pizza is about $11 which is good for one or two people. I would definitely repeat. This is my first visit here. read more

Today one of my employees and I were debating where to eat and when I mentioned Frankie's they looked bewildered. Well this is a perfect teaching moment. We parked in the rear and he was amazed that in 35 years living in Miami he's never stopped by. We placed our order and 15 minutes later we had our pizzas. What can I say other than it transports me back in time. Even though they don't have any inside seating the fellas allowed us to eat at the counter (it was too damn hot outside). I can remember Frankie's Pizza since I was a child, over 35+ years ago. It was always unique amongst all the Miami pizza offerings. My family particularly enjoyed the half-baked style, which no one else offers and can be cooked to your preference. Even now with the Miami pizza game blowing up, there is nothing just quite like Frankie's. It's not Detroit, it's not New York, it's not the Cuban style, not grandma's, not floppy, not Neopolitan... it is its own unique and lovely vibe. I try to go there in person as often as I can. Today I had to order via Uber Eats. Even though the order I received today was not the order I put through the app (a rare occurrence), I am very pleased at Frankie's customer service and dedication to making things right. Went here the year they opened. Over 50 years ago. The place hasn't changed from my childhood. AT ALL. It was such a memory trip and the pizza is the same from 50 years ago. They still whack the box with the serving spatula to vent it so it doesn't get soggy when you take it out. There is no seating so it's all take out. And it was delicious. They also put a half slice on the top of the box like they did 50 years ago. Now, to be honest, I've only ever gotten their pizza half-baked. That means you take it home and finish it in your own oven. Something about bringing their crunchy crust and melted cheese up to temp yourself just hits different. The pizzas are square, and my favorite toppings are pepperoni, assorted veggies, and chopped garlic. A large pizza (10 slices) ranges from $14 - $21. The slices are good portions but I can most definitely eat 2 or 3 because that nostalgia hits. A lot of things are new and shiny in Miami, and that is great. But seeing businesses like Frankie's remain open long enough to span generations enjoying their pizza is a BEAUTIFUL thing. We've been Frankies customers for the past 24 years. I have order a large pizza yesterday and upon arriving home, I noticed something which has been an unfortunate recent trend, which is that the pizza had almost no cheese and the crust was 50% of what it once was. For a $22.00,10 small and very thin slices of pepperoni pizza, it should have a reasonable amount of cheese and crust. It is sad to see that Frankies is resourcing to this recent trend several food businesses have been implementing during the last 3-4 years, of charging a lot of money and reducing product amount. This is not a case of a customer wanting more cheese, it is just a case where the amount of cheese and thickness of the crust has been slowly and consistently reduced over the years. I'm a big fan of "Ohio Valley" pizza, in particular DiCarlo's. Apparently the founder of Frankie's stole the DiCarlo's concept, logo, and everything else and relocated to Miami back in the 50s. He seemed to have done pretty well for himself, so props to him. I was in town and decided to give it a shot. Overall, it was pretty tasty, but not on the level of DiCarlos. I'd give it 3* for the pizza, but I give it an extra * because one of the employees noticed the Breakfast Club tattoo I had on my shoulder. read more
