Not only did they have what I was looking for, but Juan was so patient helping me to figure out what size overalls to buy for my husband. Every member of my family has purchased a pair of work boots from Frankel's. I finally made a trip there to buy a pair of my own. The store is huge and has a large inventory of every major brand of work boots. I found a pair of Thorogood boots for only $50. My boot's look great, fit great, and are light weight. Great selection and the store itself is like stepping back in time. My first time here was back in high school. Came here to get my Frye Boots. Now, almost 40 years later I get my work boots here. Almost all the names you want to see when shopping for work boots. Red Wing, Chippewa, Keen, Thorogood, etc.... Great prices too! If you are in a hurry, then maybe this isn't the place for you because you will find it hard to not get involved in a conversation with the owner. Definitely an old school Brooklyn character. Best work boot selection I have ever seen in any store I've been to since I started carpentry a decade ago. The service was fine, the employees just like to talk, sometimes a bit too much. They're Brooklyn natives, quite nice people. I guess they do most of their sales online but that's fine with me because the selection was amazing. Carolina, Red Wing, Thorogood, Muck and some Keen were the main brands they sold. Most stores in Brooklyn or Manhattan only have a few types of each brand but this place had at least 40 styles of boots you could choose from. If you want to try on a work boot before buying, I'd go here. They brought me 7 pairs before I decided on one to buy. Don't listen to the negative reviews, it doesn't sound like any of them work construction anyways. read more

I was in the market for a pair of comfortable work boots and came to the right place. Marty and his friendly staff greeted us right away and spent a considerable amount of time with us showing me several pairs that fit my needs. I couldn't make up my mind so we went for lunch to mull it over and came back to buy a pair of Bates which were the same price online- minus the wait. I don't know what all the good starts are for on other reviews. I walked into this store about one month ago and not one single person ever came up to me or shouted out to me... 'can I help you...?' I browsed around for about 10 minutes then walked out. When I was walking out, no one ever stopped me to ask... (not that you're leaving) ..."can I help you?" I called this store before going to check availability of a work boot. The owner answered and said it was in stock. I went to the store that same day, when I walked in the store the very first words I mean the very first words out of the owner mouth was my son I unprotected sex twice in his life and the second time he got the bitch knocked up. I was taking back a little knowing that his sons girlfriend/wife was of Asian descent. I tried on the boot and decided to purchase them. BIG MISTAKE on my behalf. He agreed to take $4 dollars off the price I accepted but I said that will be the final price. He processed the sale with tax. After I saw this l expressed my disapproval and refused the boots. He became disrespectful loud and accused me of playing games after all l was the one who called then came to the store and agreed to buy the boots. This man is arrogant, racist and self centered. l wonder how his son and girlfriend/wife would feel to know this is how he referred to her to a potential customer. l advised all NYC TRANSIT workers to spend your hard earned money else where particularly if you are Black, Asian or of Latin descent. You can go there try on something to get your size and order online from somewhere else. As a result l ordered the boots online and paid no sales tax. l also know sales tax is required in NY but l run a business and know that it is not always collected. l feel this business should get no stars but l am force to give one. read more

I am less than satisfied with the customer service in this store. I have been purchasing my work boots from Frankel's for several years. After purchasing my latest pair of Redwings, they have fallen apart in just a month. This has never happened before, and I've always been very satisfied with the boots. I called Frankel's to explain the situation and ask if they can be repaired or replaced and I was told to bring them in to show, only to find out that they were not willing to accommodate me at all, and essentially made me go to the store for no reason. I will not be purchasing my boots, or any of my work gear from this store as I have in the past, and I will make sure that my co-workers are aware of what horrible customer service I've experienced. read more

So I ordered from Frankel's from Ebay (it was my frist time and I dont usually trust things like that but the price was unbeatable) I was thrilled when the UPS tracker said my boots had been shipped the same day I ordered them! Unfortunately the boots dont fit me BUT I called over there and they told me I could bring them back for a full refund! Store that has basically everything for police and EMS. You can go there and get dressed from head to toe for reasonable price. Boots, belts, pants etc... and they have different sizes! Guys who work there are funny, friendly and professional :) read more

We were looking for the Red Wing Heritage Boot and we saw someone who was wearing them in Brooklyn and asked where they got them. He said at FrankelsNY. I thought we would just go to the store but I called first to make sure they had them in stock. The man I spoke with said they don't have them in the store only online. Their website is not clear at all and when I clicked on the Red Wing it says they were unavailable. The person I spoke with tried to direct me to their Ebay site. Once on Ebay he told me to look them up but after about 5 minutes of putting in EXACTLY what he said it was still not finding his Ebay site. We tried this with their Amazon site too with the same results. I finally just Googled it and found it. Once on the Ebay site I asked him how do I search for the specific boot I was looking for at that point he says, "I don't have time for this, it is the holidays and I have shopping." He just lost a potential life long customer. Not good business. I was very calm the whole time and even being lighthearted about the fact that we couldn't find his Amazon or Ebay sites. This was the worst shopping experience that I have ever had. Most questions I asked the owner were answered with smartass remarks. I wanted a pair of Wesco engineer boots. I only buy made in USA. I called first before going to the store and asked if they carried the boots and if they had them in my size . I was told yes. When I got there they had one pair in size 9. I was told by the owner that they make their money by selling on line to the Japanese.I asked them to sell me another brand. I got the same answer. Only small sizes are carried in the store. When I asked them, "What about me as a customer in the store?" They made me feel insignificant. Another customer walked in and asked for work boots made in USA like the ones he was wearing. The owner told him he would be better off buying a pairmade in China. When I was leaving I tried to let them know how unhappy and a dissatisfied customer I was.
