I picked up an older and quite rare car in Chicago and planned to drive it back home to NYC from Highland Park. I collect old cars and I already knew that keys for this car would be a challenge to find. The door locks were not working and I was worried about driving home and/or parking the car outside without being able to lock the car. I called a few local locksmiths who didn't want or know how to fix this. When I called Karl on the phone, he offered advice on how I might be able to fix this myself. It was a holiday weekend and, when my own efforts didn't free the locks, Karl made the time to come out and open up his shop. He stayed late on a cold and rainy night to make sure that we got everything sorted before my trip the next day. Karl was friendly, helpful and resourceful. He explained exactly what he thought it was, what he could try, and why he thought it would work. The locks had heavy corrosion and had not been used in a long time. Karl carefully disassembled the lock mechanism, got it to work and was able to get me back on the road safely and securely. Karl was a great find and I appreciate his dedication to go above and beyond to make me feel safe.
