I'm not sure one can ever be a fan of a dentist. Well, maybe if it's one of those fancy-ass spa dentists. But this is not that.
Dr. Sconza's office is stuck in the back corner of a strip mall inside a weird little office suite. It has a teeny waiting room but the receptionist was friendly when I finally got her attention.
My appointment was for 4:30 for a cleaning and checkup. He was running a bit late but warned me about that as soon as I checked in. So I read old copies of the New Yorker. They do have a pretty good magazine selection, though of course a bit dated.
Dr. Sconza was very friendly but didn't waste a lot of time, which I liked. He also seemed to be operating under the amusing delusion that was in my late teens ("what are you, 17, 18?" um, I'm 27, but thanks...).
Probably most noteworthy is that he personally did my cleaning and checkup, with some help from the hygienist, and didn't just do a compulsory check like I've seen at other dentists. He signed off on me not having cavities (yay), not needing my wisdom teeth out (double yay) and said to come back in six months. Easy and basically painless. I'll keep going to him as long as I'm in this area. read more
