Wow - What a sham. Cracked off a tooth and I know I needed an implant. My dentist's recommendation couldnt see me for a few weeks so I tried this place. Same week service so I went for it. Well the proposed billing provided seems really high but I signed off, then they talked me into paying for a special xray, then it was more computer guidance on the setting the implant, them more for some type of centrifuge of my blood. YES its my fault for saying yes, but I was already a few weeks into the prep work and needed something done soon. Time went on and a few follow ups and then... I CONTINUED TO GET MORE BILLING for more xrays and additional work to fix the temporaries that didnt hold (their fault not mine if you ask me). I felt cheated by the billing attempts and decided I'm not going back there for any more followups. They did finally refund those extra charges but the practice and doctor are a snake oil salesmen squeezing every bit of profit out of you once you walk in the door. I wont step foot in there again. Find somewhere else! before you get sucked into the cesspool!! read more

DO NOT GO THERE if you care about not overpaying and price transparency. They tried to charge me for PPE although my insurance said they were not supposed to. Some office staff is rude and unprofessional. Had to file my first ever complaint about their billing as they charged me for what they say was office visit although it was 100% covered by my insurance. Staff is very ignorant! The head lady (Jeannine) is extremely rude and always uses excuses for why their job was not done! The other girls look afraid of her. Dr. Halpern should consider a new front end person who has experience working with people. I didn't even want to mark the one star. It was the most horrible experience of my life or at least one of them for sure. I mean out of this world horrible. Figure it out. I was in his chair for two and half hours just to pull a small tooth the front bottom small tooth he was very mean in my view. Bad people. Went there to have a fibroma removed. Gave all insurance info. Paid upfront $700. They then sent fibroma for a biopsy to out of my network facility. I was billed $700 from the biopsy place. So if my insurance paid for the procedure where did my $700 pay for. I called many times regarding the matter and noone there had any answers. The experience was very good. I went in because I needed surgical removal of two teeth. After getting a referral I was seen within two days, but by then infection had set in. Dr. Halpern made a wise decision to get me on antibiotics first. During the week between the next visit and getting rid of the infection, Dr. Halpern and his staff checked on me a couple of times as well as kept me up to date. There was a mishap that was beyond anyone's control and I had to reschedule, but they rescheduled me within days, a week ahead of the original date. The surgery was smooth and the cauterizing lazer the Dr. used made healing expedient (less than 2 days) and almost painless. I was back to normal, even after the drugs wore (sedation). Very little to no pain and to top it off the front-desk, Fracesca and Alex, were able to get my HMO to pay for a good portion (since I didn't have dental). read more

After denial letter from the insurance (quite understandably, same X-ray was free at other clinics, including the one where I fixed my teeth), I asked Dr. Halpern's office to send me invoice like 5 times, never received anything. Then came to the office to find out what's going on. Was given "50% discount" and paid in full only to get a last warning (with no prior communication before!) threatening me with the collections agency 3 YEARS LATER!!! It gets worse, the amount was for the full $540! Where did my money go? Be cautious and keep your receipts. I'm glad I did. read more

Loved Dr. Halpern and his staff! I had a great experience and everyone was so friendly. I came here to take out my two wisdom teeth. I was really nervous and scared about taking out my wisdom teeth but Dr. Halpern was quick and good! It was so fast that I didn't realize he was done pulling them out. It's definitely not fun to pull out your wisdom teeth in general but I'm glad I came here and did it with an experienced great doctor. I would definitely recommend him and his staff to everyone! Just a quick tip on the directions to this place. It's the big building close to the des Plaines library. I was referred to Dr Halpern by my dentist to have a tooth extracted. When I arrived his office staff seemed quite inexperienced. They were very confused. I was in the chair for SEVEN hours to have a tooth removed. While attempting to take a scan of my tooth three different assistants kept getting my head caught in the scan. They were training an assistant. While attempting to place pressure clip on my fingers they kept tangling the wires. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND INEXPERIENCED. When I finally awoke from the anesthesia my blood pressure skyrocketed and they were confused about treatment. He finally administered a beta blocker to bring it down to normal. We were very scared. My wife was ready to call 911 for medical assistance. They really lacked professionalism and confidence. Dr. Halpern truly seems like a gentleman but really disappointed me. This is the first time that I have ever complained about a doctor but felt I had to share my experience. What really bothered me, was that after all of this occurred, is that Dr. Halpern DID NOT even call me to see if I was ok..... VERY UNPROFESSIONAL...and sad. read more

Two weeks ago, I had one of the most universally dreaded experiences in all of mankind: the extraction of all four of my wisdom teeth. I'll be honest, I've been avoiding this inevitability for over a decade - but the time had come. I came to Dr. Halpern's office through a referral and I couldn't be more pleased. Everything about the experience was just pleasant: from the woman who answered the phone to take my appointment (and explained some of the preliminary procedures), to the nurses and assistants who took my x-rays and settled me in (all the while making sure I was as comfortable as possible), to Dr. Halpern's actual evaluation and subsequent oral surgery. Every aspect of the procedure was explained to me in detail (which actually set my mind at ease). After the procedure, I was given very specific instructions as to how to properly take care of my mouth in the coming weeks and so far, everything is moving along swimmingly. I even ran into an unexpected scheduling conflict the day after I had originally scheduled (my fault) that the office had absolutely no problems with scheduling around. My consult was pleasant, the surgery went off without a hitch (and on time!), my follow-up went just as well as my first two visits and it seems like my healing process is moving along swiftly. Dr. Halpern himself is a very personable and kind man with great bed-side manners (the same thing goes for the nurses and assistants). If I had another 4 teeth to extract, this is the guy I'd go to. read more

I had such a great experience at Dr. Halpern's office! Unfortunately for me I needed all four of my wisdom teeth removed. I was referred to him by my medical doctor since my insurance was able to cover it through referral and if my teeth were impacted. I'd say luckily, but unluckily for me three of my four wisdom teeth were impacted. Which saves me a ton of money in the end. However with or without financial help I would definitely recommend Dr. Halpern to anyone. Him and his staff were very kind and professional throughout the entire surgery, post and pre op. They're very good at explaining everything in detail and answering any questions you may have. I also believe that it's Dr. Halpern's experience that made my recovery such a breeze! Ladies in billing don't seem to know what they are doing, can't explain things and improperly billed my insurance twice. I had to explain things to them several times. When I questioned one item on my bill, they removed it but added more items, which brought the price back up. Dr seems knowledgeable but is rude to his staff - although I'm sure they are frustrating to work with. read more

This place is great! We called because my husband had a tooth emergency and needed to be treated the same day. I looked up on insurance and Dr Jeffery was in our network and only minutes from home. I called and tried to get a same day appointment. The secretary said "they were full for the day, but could she call me back and see what she could do for us." Shortly after she called me back and said they moved things around in order to squeeze us in. We arrived and everyone at the front desk was nice and polite. They have a nice waiting area a salt water fish tank, and a coffee and tea area. We had never been here before. They took great care of my husband. Dentist was nice with sense of humor which is always great. Nurse was super and staff was great! Over all we had a wonderful experience. And my husband is feeling great! read more

I had a molar extracted by Dr. Halpern at his office in Des Plaines. The tooth came out in multiple pieces. Dr. Halpern used his extractor tool so roughly and brusquely that my lips were bruised for days afterward. I read reviews right away about Dr. Halpern when my dentist first referred me to him to get my wisdom teeth out and with all the positive reviews honestly I was very confident in him before even meeting him! I had 3 impacted wisdom teeth extracted and expected some severe pain post-op (they prescribed me hydrocodone which I didn't even need) and my recovery was almost pain free! Just OTC strength Advil and Tylenol for the first two days did the trick. Swelling lasted about 7-8 days but that was expected (I tend to swell very easily). Only thing was nausea/dry heaving from the general anesthesia but thats a common side effect out of my and their control. 1 week post-op and I felt pretty much back to my normal self. While the doctor was experienced, the staff was negligent and even misleading. I will never go back. It took an hour for the office staff to send their medical codes to my insurance. I was told that everything would be covered except around 30 dollars. After the operation, I received a bill for nearly $200. I called to inquire, why my estimate was so different then my actual amount owed and no one had any idea. read more

This Dr. is amazing for kids with autoimmune issues, when we told him about our daughters issues, he immediately suggested using an IV drip in her wisdom extraction. And my daughter's procedure went so much better than we had expected and I'm sure it is because of the drip. That means the world to me. I came to Dr. Halpern to have 4 completely impacted wisdom teeth surgically removed. My experience really wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I was deathly afraid and dreaded the whole thing. Dr. Halpern is extremely nice as well as the entire staff. So, the day of my surgery, I was so nervous. Shaking, upset stomach, all that good stuff. Dr. Halpern comforted me and told me everything would be fine and there was nothing to worry about. They give me the anesthesia and next thing I know I just hear my name being called by the nurse to wake up. I'm up, but really groggy and I felt nauseous afterwards. Overall, the whole experience wasn't as bad as I thought. I was told it was going to be really painful, and it wasn't. The healing process was more uncomfortable than it was painful. I was prescribed vicodin and I had no idea why. It really wasn't anything that regular ibuprofen couldn't fix. I couldn't eat solid foods for a week and a half and I could barely open my mouth for a couple of days after. I couldn't laugh! My cheeks got pretty big, but nothing drastic. The only extremely unpleasant part was that I had sneezed the day of my wisdom teeth surgery, and they say you're supposed to TRY to stop yourself from sneezing since it makes all the muscles in your mouth tense up. But, if you have to, sneeze with your mouth closed. Unfortunately for me, my sneezes are loud and obnoxious no matter how hard I try to contain it, which resulted with a hole in my mouth where it was stitched up. The hole was connected to my sinus cavity, so every time I rinsed my mouth, all that water would come straight out of my nose. Gross, I know. But I immediately called the office and they said that it happens and to not rinse for an entire week and it should heal on its own. And it did. Everything healed great and that's because Dr. Halpern and the staff did a great job as well as informing me on what I should do for the healing process. Thanks Dr. Halpern and staff! read more

I highly recommend Dr. Jeffrey Halpern. Him and his staff is just amazing and friendly. I got my wisdom teeth taken out and it couldn't of went better!!!!! I was back at work in just 3 days. I removed my four wisdom teeth with Dr. Halpern. The procedure was really quick, 10 mins tops. Him and his assistants were really comforting; along with explaining to me what they were going to do before they proceeded. My experience was amazing I would definitely recommend them. I didn't feel any type of pain during or after the procedure and I am healing great! The front staff was great; they are what made me schedule an appointment. They are very nice and understanding. My only down fall with my whole experience is that they did not specify the payment for the whole procedure needed to be paid fully on the day of the procedure. I arrived ready for the procedure, but without the full payment in hand. I thought I would be setting up a payment plan. Luckily I was able to come up with the full amount to proceed with the procedure. They are a little pricey but you pay for what you get. My insurance covered 50% and I payed $720 out of pocket for four simple extractions. read more

I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth extracted here and the office staff made the process so much better and easier for me. I do not handle pain well and 3 days after surgery I was in so much pain and missed 3 days of work. I called the office and the wonderful dental hygienist gave me tips to help with the pain and it really worked. 5 days after surgery I still wasn't feeling 100% and I called the office and they were able to squeeze me into their busy day. The cleaned my sockets and gave me a numbing agent and some more healing tips. I feel completely better now. Dr Halpern and his staff are excellent! He is very laid back, nice and straight to the point, no BS. His dental hygienist is also wonderful and caring. On Monday I went to Dr. Halpern to have two teeth pulled. What one expects to be a bad experience soon became the opposite. I am 66 and sadly have had several teeth pulled over the years. This was by far the best of those experiences. Dr. Halpern was professional, thorough, fast and painless. His staff and attending dental assistant are to be commended as well. Don't visit Dr. Halpern unless you want to be over charged and told you need unnecessary treatment. I was referred to him by my dentist and when I arrived he said he needed to redo the x-rays and he could not use the ones my dentist took already. So he charged me extra because the insurance already paid for the ones at the dentist. Then gave me an outrageous estimate for a tooth extraction and said I would need to pay $2,000 upfront because he's not sure how much of it the insurance would cover. I refused and left the office, then I get a bill from him for a evaluation!!! read more

Dr Halpern is a compassionate doctor who takes his time with every patient and parent to make sure you understand everything and are comfortable with the procedures. Staff is compassionate and attentive. That said, we waited over an hour to be seen both before our consultation and before surgery, so be prepared for that. My daughter was also offered a gift card in exchange for doing a review on google. She truly only had good things to say other than the long wait times, but it was a little out of the ordinary. Parking is available in the public library garage. Allow extra time to park and get into the building. Despite the long wait, I would bring my other child here for oral surgery if needed in the future. read more

I have no problem with Dr. Halpren he did a great job on my husband. My problem is with his billing girl. I have been waiting six weeks for the difference from my husbands bill. They give you a worse case cost to bring with you. I was told that at the follow up visit I would get the $1300 back. All I got was a piece of paper saying what they owed me. The girl told me they have to wait rwo weeks for the check to clear. I bought in a bank check that cleared before we left having his dental work done. I have called several times and been told different stories. They have to check with the accountant and get back to me, they never call I Have to call them. Then I get a story that the accountant is on vacation then the billing girl gets on and says no he is not that the girl is new so she really doesn't know anything. I am tired of calling and I told the billing girl to tell Dr. Halpren to check his web page and yelp. My husband & I are on social security and $1300 is a lot of money to us. Dr. Halpren is a very good dentist but I don't think he knows what is going on in his billing department. I'm sure I'm not the only one this is happening to. My bill was hard enough to pay over $7000 dollars. I don't think its fair that I have to keep calling about the money that is owed to us. I recommend him to anyone. I had two partially impacted and two fully out wisdom teeth removed on Tuesday. I had no stitches put in. My bleeding stopped after the first 24 hours. Minimal swelling. No bruising. The operation lasted about 45 minutes. I was under Iv anesthetic so I have no recollection. The staff was very patient with helping me regain my balance and explaining the recovery procedures a few times to a semi-loopy me. They did give me additional shots of numbing medicine after the surgery due to pain on one side. My surgery was expensive but also more extensive. I paid $1400 out of pocket plus an additional half covered by my insurance. I am happy with the quality though. I was able to get a consultation and extraction appointment within a week just in time for spring break recovery! Pretty good experience under these rough circumstances.
