On the same hall way you have a small library room, gym room, salon & a little movie theater as well. Basically, the first floor consist of many activities for everyone who are living there to enjoy. My mother-in-law has been renting a 2 bedroom apartment at Olaloa for almost a year. There are also…read morestudio apartments and 1 bedroom apartments. All of the units sold as real estate and then owner occupied or rented out to tenants such as my MIL. Tenants must be 55 years or older, completely independent in their care (can use oxygen, walker, or wheelchair) or have a caregivers for light duties. While there is staff on site, there are NO caregivers. Many of the residents have lived there for several years, still work and still drive...nicer cars than me! The grounds are well maintained with beautiful landscaping and many of the units have a gorgeous view of the Waianae Mountain Range. The main gate to the community is closed at 6pm and on the weekends. Guests can call the unit they're visiting on the intercom system, but sometimes the system isn't working. If a resident has an emergency, the main office assures emergency personal can access the tenant-though they have their own remote control to open the gate during evening hours-and notifies the family. There are no dining services on site, but all units are equipped with their own kitchen or can sign up for Meals on Wheels. There are daily activities, a library and a gym but it is all in the main building which can be a far walk for tenants. There is also a community garden that the tenants can contribute to, but again, it's rather far from most units. Unfortunately my MIL doesn't utilize any of these services because the walk is too far for her so I can't comment on them but it's nice knowing they're there. All in all, Olaloa is a GREAT community for seniors who don't want to or were having difficulty maintaining a large home. I love having my Mil close by so we can assist her as needed and know that she is in a safe environment.

Many times we witnessed the staff touching our relatives personal belongings and also, medicines and food without washing their hands, sanitizing their hands and without gloves. I really regret admitting our relative here.

A couple days prior to appt she called to remind me and gave some info on where to park and where to check in. Appointment went smoothly - met with sales manager, Jeffrey Fishman, and he really knows how to explain things, address concerns, follow up on current info, takes the time to make sure all our questions are answered satisfactorily. He has been very patient with us in securing the right space for Dad and checks back with us on any changes we should be aware of. This branch of the Plaza is beautiful, spacious, very clean and I love the wall to recognize military veterans with their pictures and service. The rooms are a nice size, nicely appointed and the shared rooms are spacious with a nice little entry area as a sitting room. Plenty of things for them to do with a shuttle service for excursions and also covered parking for residents. The residents all looked happy and content, the overall vibe was positive from staff and the dining area with the chef's menu was outstanding! We haven't made a decision yet because Dad needs to see the place for himself, but we wanted to write this review because of the way we have been respected during this difficult process of entrusting Dad to others and the kindness of Jeffrey Fishman.

So she asked the lady behind the desk who was busy answering the phones and assisting a couple at the front desk and that lady replied she was busy at the moment. We appreciate the expertise of all of the rehab staff who helped him thrive, especially when he was set back by his hospitalization. The hospital doctors said he wouldn't be able to swallow again so they inserted a feeding tube, but you folks proved them wrong by using innovative treatments that I have never seen any other nursing home use! He has also learned how to adapt for when his Parkinson's disease progresses and his mobility changes. The nurses and CNAs were very knowlegable and flexible as his care changed day to day. He enjoyed the activities in which he participated and was especially grateful for the Catholic Mass. We are also thankful my mom was able to participate when he visited him. Mahalo to the housekeeping and maintenance staff, as well, for helping to fix his bed when the legs wouldn't elevate and for keeping my room clean and homelike. And lastly, the food was delicious! The variety was fantastic. Thank you for accommodating his request for poi every day. The level of involvement by the administrative staff was first class, proving that this facility truly cares about each individual person.

There is the car wash across the street with constant white noise, across the street is a 2 story commercial space and an alarm went off for nearly 1 hour! It was like torture at Guantanamo. They also play music over the loudspeakers in this patio where visitors and residents hang out. A few brought out their personal boom boxes and played music loudly. All I'm saying is hearing comprehension and hearing in general is harder for older people. They often have weakened vocal chords too so shouting and repeating oneself for 1 hour is exhausting. If it wasn't for noise level I'd give it a 4 stars and recommended it warmly for family.
