I left with what can only be described as a mullet, strands that were far too long and awkward to wear down, with no shape, no balance, and no styling. It was uneven in the back (the hairstylist, Emily, didn't even cut all the strands - she just snipped once at like two pieces?? It was so weird), My hair was so botched that my sister said it looked worse than when I tried to cut my own bangs in second grade. I told the stylist I was unhappy before I left the salon (I was in tears. I got into my car and literally cried), but she shrugged and vaguely offered to "fix it" within a week. I sat in the chair and said several times, hey this is not what I was looking for. I had reference photos that were as close to my hair type as possible. She kept kind of shrugging and ignoring me. As a small business owner and mom of two, I didn't have time to come back as it was also the week of the 4th of July. I've spent every single day since wearing a hat or a headband. The cost was over $100 to get my hair butchered, and I felt obligated to tip, despite feeling uncomfortable and dissatisfied. In retrospect, obviously I should not have. I followed up right away via email, sent photos, and tried to communicate. The salon owner, Rachelle, responded a couple of times, I responded back with times that worked for me to come in for her to fix it, and then she just stopped responding completely. Mistakes happen, but how a business handles them matters. The lack of urgency, accountability, or a clear solution made a frustrating experience worse. I'm still out the money and now have to pay another salon to fix it. The attached picture is from immediately after my appointment. As you can see, nothing was styled and my hair is exponentially worse than when I stepped into The Studio. Who would walk into a salon and ask for the awkward growing-out-bangs stage for a haircut??? I explained that my budget could go up to $260, and I was even open to other services within that range, but they refused to give any clarity on pricing. Instead, they told me they couldn't proceed if I wasn't fully committed to the balayage. Then, they outright refused to provide me with any service. First, they blamed the confusion on hiring a new employee, but when the owner got involved, she refused to apologize. Instead, she boasted about running a successful business for eight years with 2,000 clients and went as far as telling me that I was no longer a customer--while I was still in the store. I left feeling humiliated and with the following questions: If the subtotal is $140, what is the total cost? (I was willing to pay up to $300, yet the website provides no clear pricing details.) Why was my time wasted when this could have been clarified over the phone? Was I refused service based on my appearance? How much does it cost to treat a customer with basic respect in front of the staff?

Dani cut my hair and she was super sweet but in the middle of my cut someone else had come in and she called out that she would get to them when she was dine with my hair, but it must have been at that point they started to rush the progress on my cut and was getting sort of careless. I got layers and the longer I look the more apparent it is that they are just blunt cut straight across. I'm not exaggerating it looks like I got hime bangs but all around my head lol. I think this stylist is very talented and has done some great work before but I'm not a regular of hers and the other people who came in were obviously a personal prior so I don't think my hair was really taken as seriously especially since I had prepaid. I did try to communicate gently that I was unsatisfied with my hair but she wasn't really open to exploring options to help me be happy with it, they just told me my hair was unhealthy and there wasn't a lot we could do. I also don like to argue with people about their professions because it feels unfair to tell them how to do what they are trained for, but at the end of the day I really don't like my hair and it's affected my self esteem pretty heavily. If you choose to go here I hope you have a better experience than I did.

I had heard about Salon Love at a recent charity fundraiser that I went to, and seeing it's in my neighborhood, I thought, why not? The owner is super fast with her responses and was able to fit me in at the time I requested. It's a cute and clean salon, right next to 5 points coffee. There's plenty of free street parking available too. I went in and got a fast, good haircut. I asked for a long inverted bob, and that's what I got. And it was good. It's hard to find people who can cut asian coarse (and in my case, thick) hair, as people often have no idea how to handle it. But they do at Salon Love! I also liked how it was straight to the point- there's no pushy-ness to buy their hair products-you get your hair cut and you're out. Additionally, it's quite cheap for a haircut.. much less than what I was paying in Ohio City and Edgewater. If you're in need for a quick good haircut that is affordable, stop into Salon Love!

She gently pushes me to try new colors and styles (even super-short bangs, which ended up looking amazing). She knows how to work with someone's unique skin tone and face shape. I don't think I'd trust anyone else with my hair! I've never had an appointment with Teri herself, but I can tell that she is a great listener and a truly talented hairstylist. Overall, the atmosphere is fun and laid back while still professional. They also use Eufora products, which are incredible. Everyone is super friendly and helpful without pushing you to buy anything. I recommend Teri's every chance I get.
