I really wanted to love this place. Unfortunately, my experience was incredibly disappointing. I came in with reference photos asking for soft bangs and a trim with some shaping. I left with what can only be described as a mullet, strands that were far too long and awkward to wear down, with no shape, no balance, and no styling. It was uneven in the back (the hairstylist, Emily, didn't even cut all the strands - she just snipped once at like two pieces?? It was so weird), My hair was so botched that my sister said it looked worse than when I tried to cut my own bangs in second grade. I told the stylist I was unhappy before I left the salon (I was in tears. I got into my car and literally cried), but she shrugged and vaguely offered to "fix it" within a week. I sat in the chair and said several times, hey this is not what I was looking for. I had reference photos that were as close to my hair type as possible. She kept kind of shrugging and ignoring me. As a small business owner and mom of two, I didn't have time to come back as it was also the week of the 4th of July. I've spent every single day since wearing a hat or a headband. The cost was over $100 to get my hair butchered, and I felt obligated to tip, despite feeling uncomfortable and dissatisfied. In retrospect, obviously I should not have. I followed up right away via email, sent photos, and tried to communicate. The salon owner, Rachelle, responded a couple of times, I responded back with times that worked for me to come in for her to fix it, and then she just stopped responding completely. Mistakes happen, but how a business handles them matters. The lack of urgency, accountability, or a clear solution made a frustrating experience worse. I'm still out the money and now have to pay another salon to fix it. The attached picture is from immediately after my appointment. As you can see, nothing was styled and my hair is exponentially worse than when I stepped into The Studio. Who would walk into a salon and ask for the awkward growing-out-bangs stage for a haircut??? If I could give this zero stars I would. My niece was getting married on a Friday and we had hair and makeup appointments early in the day, when we arrived they told us someone didn't show up so they weren't sure if they could offer the services. 2 of the women getting hair and makeup were 88 years old, grandmas of bride and groom. the stylist said she called the manager and she was going to try and come in. That never happened and we were able to go elsewhere to get hair/ makeup done. Because of time I was only able to get hair done. I'm not sure what's more important than a WEDDING!!! The owner called said she was sorry about what happened and refunded the deposit. I guess I just can't imagine a business not completely going out of their way to fix things immediately!! I had a very disappointing experience. I was a walk in, and I was seated immediately, which I appreciate. The stylist was very friendly and affable. However, her friendliness and affability were for lack of care for the customer's end product or attention to detail. She gave me a fade, but there really is no discernible fade; it appears as though it's all one length. She brought the "fade" very high up on the back side of my head, past my cowlick, but it's lower on the sides of my head, which definitely looks odd. She shaved the back of my neck only to the point of where the cape was, but then left the hair that still remained underneath the cape. My neck line was completely botched. I don't know how to interpret what she was attempting to do. I had to try and fix it myself when I got home. Lastly, she just left hair all over my forehead and neck when I was done. As I previously mentioned, my stylist was very friendly and kind, and that's the only reason there is two stars and not one. She spent little more then five minutes on my hair. There was no refining, fixing or finishing touches. She banged out a quick hair cut with no attention to detail and told me I was done. This haircut sucks. I'm a male attempting to grow my hair out a little longer for the first time in my adult life. I'm either going to have to abandon that pursuit and cut it short to fix this botched haircut, or wear a hat for awhile. We'll see. Either way, I'm not going back. read more

I had gotten a balayage done at a different salon and a few days later, my friend pointed out that some parts of my hair were so light that it looked like gray hairs. I have dark hair naturally so the strands of bleached hair that had not been toned properly stood out and did not fit the natural look I had wanted. I came here in hopes of correcting the issue in the most cost effective way. Jess was very friendly and helpful in explaining that it would be an easy fix that only involved reapplying the toner. She worked with me to find the right color that would work with my natural hair color. She took her time ensuring that all pieces of my hair had the toner properly applied. They also provided coffee, which was nice to sip on while waiting for the toner to set in. I will definitely be coming back for other hair cut/color needs. read more

To start, I have extremely long hair. There have been past experiences of stylists drastically messing up my hair (Not at this location!) so I am usually hesitant about who or where I am getting it cut. I had Alexa and she is an angel! She was very patient with me and talked me through what she was going to do. I had to be annoying from being worried but she was talking to me every step of the way and knew exactly what she was doing. Now I LOVE my hair! It is still long but way different that what I am used to. Alexa truly did a fabulous job. I can't stop staring at it and touching it! I also made an appointment for color with her. I got a subtle balayage and layers done by Kali! It was one of my best haircut experiences. She cut my hair dry which I've never had before but she was more accurately able to look at my length that way. I just moved to Cleveland and was looking for a new place and I'm glad I found my new goto place. Kali answered all my questions and was very reassuring due to my disastrous hair experiences in the past. I am always afraid that my hair change will be extreme but she listened when I asked for subtle. She also worked with me to look at different colors. Overall, everyone in the salon was very excited about my haircut and all provided feedback as they walked by. The salon experience was very nice and they provided coffee, but the only downfall would be that there was no apparent air conditioning and the door was open on a hot summer day which led to many flies buzzing around me during my hair cut. However, I doubt this would be in the case as the days get colder. read more

I have a friend that always has that perfect cut, color, no bad hair days, type of hair so I asked her where she got her hair done and she referred me to The Studio, Rachelle in particular. My hair had been badly damaged from boxed color and although I thought there wasn't really anything I could do about it, I thought maybe a professional could make me at least not want to cry about it. Lol From my very 1st visit I was beyond happy!! I hate myself with short hair but because of the damage it needed cut and I got a treatment that left my hair feeling like real hair again! If that's all that could have been done, after what it looked like, I was happy, even the cut was cute. That wasn't it though, Rachelle listened to me. Knew I'd really be missing my long hair and said we can fix that color! Made another appointment & she came through on both!! I got extensions that I can't say enough good things about! *they are NOT the tape in kind! I can wear my hair anyway I want, you can not see these! They are so easy to take care of & best of all, no damage to my real hair!! As for my color, spot on!! It's a half hour drive for me to The Studio & I pass many salons along the way. Kali is a fabulous stylist. I've been regularly seeking out her services since I moved here from out of state back in October. She is particularly talented with crafting a balayage look that is both strikingly beautiful as it is natural looking. She is gifted in accentuating her clients natural beauty. I've also found that unlike a lot of other stylist, Kali takes her time with her clients. I've always felt pampered after seeing her, never rushed. I am a college student who is living away from my hometown, and that means I live away from my favorite hairstylist. I wanted to change up my hair a bit, but I was not heading back home anytime soon, so I decided to find a new salon and stylist in the Cleveland area. I found good reviews and before/after images for this salon, so I gave it a chance. I entered with hair that fell slightly under my collar bones, and I had balayage. Honestly, I go between brunette and lighter brown/sometimes blonde every year, and I always am able to get the results I want; my hair does well with color! At the studio, I presented images of my ideal cut and color. I wanted to ditch my brown into blonde look for an all over warm brown tone. I also wanted to trim my hair a bit to fall at my shoulders, so I could curl it under better. I don't recall my stylists name, but the first round of dying she decided while I was in the wash process that she didn't like the colors, so she got a product to quickly throw over it. During this process, she now began telling me how it would be impossible to achieve what I wanted. Mind you, I've done this process before, and it was achieved. Skip to cutting/styling after the coloring. She began drying my hair to avoid cutting it wet due to curls. As it is drying, I notice the top half of my head is a dark warm tone, and my bottom half is blonde with a red tint still. I looked mortified, and my social anxiety told me to not say anything. Thankfully, she called it out and took me back to the wash station for another layer of the quick product. 15 minutes later and we are washing and drying. Now the color was more blended, but it was not what I wanted. She kept telling me it was not possible to get it where I wanted. Fast forward to the cut. She started trimming my hair to where I wanted it, but due to her personal choices alongside about 1-1.5 inches of my hair still being blonde, she cut higher. The cut left my hair at chin level. I wanted to cry. Again, I am a college student, and we are known for being broke, but I wanted to spend money to treat myself on a hair change. The money was not well spent. The color faded, and there was a divide in my hair. I purchased a warm brown box dye and did it myself. Turned out beautiful, covered the mistakes she left, and was the color I wanted that was said to be "unachievable." read more

I had an appointment yesterday (Saturday 2/11) it started out good but slowly horribly. I got the blow out & style the shampoo and everything was going good, I told the lady I wanted big fancy curls for a special occasion, literally an hour after my appointment my hair went totally flat!!!! (I have a picture) I was so mad and disappointed I expected way better from a salon that is branded as Paul Mitchell.. I could have gone to great clips and had my curls last longer than an hour not even that I could have done my own hair and had it last longer! I couldn't be more disappointed! I'll start by saying I'm a weirdo about my hair. I have incredibly thick hair, and usually keep it very long, so its a lot for any hairdresser and I am always hesitant when trying out a new place. I don't think I've ever gone to a salon without someone oohing and ahh ing and the quantity of hair on my head (and probably secretly dreading having to deal with it all!). That said, The Studio handled the challenge with courage and dignity ;) I recently went for my second cut here and was very happy with the result. I kept it simple, so I won't give 5 stars for that reason- I have no idea how well they handle color, major style changes, etc. I just chopped about 4 inches off and got some layers. They were pretty quick (a good thing), blowdried and styled it nicely after the cut too. The salon was clean, modern, and pleasant. The price range on the Yelp page makes it seem expensive, but I think thats relative. Before moving to Cleveland my salon in NYC was (I guess obviously) a lot more expensive, so I think the Studio is a steal. There are also different price ranges based on experience of the hairdresser, so if you're on a budget try asking for one of the lower range ones, which I did, and was still very pleased with the outcome. I think my run on cheap salons has ended. Goodbye Crazy Mullets/Fast Eddies/ "Insert Rock name here" Tattoo chick salon! I am absolutely going back to the Studio in Ohio City. Holding the sheers: Stacy was pleasant, helpful and actually knew what she was doing! Did I notice that my hair was uneven in the back? Uhh...no, but thankfully Stacy did! It's so nice to have a quality haircut. ::tossles hair:: Tabatha would be proud: Upon entering the Salon, the colors are bright and cheerful yet not over-bearing. They had quality products and they know how to display them too! Everyone was very professional and greeted me warmly. The best part: Stacy took me to the back room where I encountered the "lather lounge" and she let me smell all the fun products that were going in my hair. The Paul Mitchell minty lavender actually made my scalp tingle. She educated me about all the lines, but also about what she was dong. This parlayed into the hair cut too. She had several pieces of advice for doing my own hair and suggestions for more volume. Leading up to my good friends wedding last weekend I debated back and forth about whether or not to fork out the dough to have my hair done. After reasoning with myself that my version of an updo compared to a professional one was world's apart, I opted for the professional route. Here we are though less than two weeks out from the wedding, I'm thinking there's no way any salon is going to fit in me in for an updo on such short notice within the afternoon timeframe I was looking for. No such case here! The fine staff at The Studio were more than happy to help me out, and scheduled my appointment right when I needed it. Easy 5 minute drive from my hotel downtown and free/available street parking! Now that's what we are missing here in Chicago!!! Anyways - Stacy did a fantastic job and had me out of there in enough time to get back to my hotel to finish my ugly duckling to swan transformation and drive 40 minutes down to the wedding. They even gave my boyfriend a quick clean up shave on his neck to touch up his rapidly growing hair free of charge! Overall the salon and staff here are top notch. Which is too bad for me that I live in Chicago and cannot utilize their services on a regular basis. But for any future weddings/events I happen to attend in the area, I now know who I can count on. But as I've transitioned into my "adult" life, I decided to take the plunge and finally splurge on an "adult" cut and color. I'm new to the downtown Cleveland area, so I turned to Yelp for suggestions as to a great salon. I called on a Friday and they were able to fit me in the same day - always a plus!! Renee took care of me and she was amazing. She talked me through the whole process and got me super excited for my big reveal. The salon is laid back, fun and easy to get to. After my move to the East Side, my usual salon in North Olmsted wasn't going to work for me time-wise. I started searching for a new one, and came across the Studio. I called for a same-day appointment and they were able to sneak me in, awesome! This may be the best haircut I've ever had! My stylist was Simon and he was very laid-back and cool. He was knowledgeable and friendly without being fake. I wanted a new color - some reddish and darker brown highlights - which is more than I normally go for. He talked me through the whole process and assured me it wouldn't look too drastic. After the cut and style, he double checked all of his work - something I'm not used to and seemed like a bit of a perfectionist. Nothing wrong with that in my book! My hair looks awesome, healthy, and the color is perfect! I think I've found my new salon! read more

As far as higher-end salons go, The Studio seems like a solid establishment. Small but well-outfitted with Paul Mitchell-only equipment and supplies, including a cute color bar, the place is staffed with friendly professionals ready to rattle off tips, instructions, and product descriptors, all gleaned from their certified Paul Mitchell School training. That said, my first experience didn't exactly "wow" me. I went in for a haircut since I had a Groupon and did like some of Paul Mitchell's products. There were only 2-3 staffers around on a Saturday morning. The interior was small and modern, which wouldn't be an issue except there was a sort of cluttered feel to it too--too many product displays/furniture/equipment? Stacy was very sweet, conversational, and took care to explain what she was doing and why. I don't think we communicated/clicked very well though. She ended up overdoing my pixie cut with the razor comb--not the best way to thin my type of hair (thick, Asian, tends to stick up)--maybe she wasn't as experienced with "textured" hair. I was hoping for thinning/shortening without sacrificing softer edges but ended up with a look that was much too spiky, and frustratingly, continues to grow out spiky as well. Hair is tricky and the client is obviously as responsible as the stylist in communicating/working towards desired results. Like any other important relationship, the chemistry between stylist and client is also a gamble most times. I didn't quite come out a winner with The Studio, but there's certainly potential for other gals to. read more

I made an appointment for my friend to have his eyebrows tweezed. On the phone, I was quoted $15 dollars. However, the stylist charged him TWENTY FIVE DOLLARS!!! She claimed the price was $20 and because he was new, he was charged additional $5!! This is ridiculous! I will never again recommend this place ever again!! read more

well the first time I came, I thought the hair dresser didn't have experience with asian hair. I wanted it to be shorter in the front but it was cut to 2 inches...I wanted layers but It was the same length. What's worse, the left and right was not the same length! when she blow dry my hair, she did pull my hair several times. I was not happy. However, I called and asked them to fix my hair. The owner Michelle did fix the layers and the length issues. The only issue I have is the bang. I still recommend this place but make sure you get the right guy. read more

I called the studio on a Saturday at 2:30 hoping maybe they could get me in on Sunday, since they are open on Sunday and Monday's which is awesome, but they said Kyle was available to get me in. Kyle did an awesome job. He put so much thought and took advice from others to get the results I wanted. I tried out The Studio after moving to the area and driving by. Christina cut my hair and did an amazing job. I am pretty laid back with my hair and usually let the stylist give input on how I should get it styled. She gave me awesome advice and input. I appreciated how she explained each product that she used on my hair. Also, I added a deep conditioning treatment that made my hair feel brand new. Finally, Christina's personality was wonderful and I felt like a friend was cutting my hair even though I had just met her that day. Needless to say, this may have been one of the best cuts I've had in a long time. read more

I went in saying I wanted an ombré touched up and left with my whole head being bleached and my hair ten shades lighter than I wanted it to be. Love getting my hair done here and won't go anywhere else. I've been going there for almost three years now and have never been disappointed. I get a cut every 6-8 weeks, with an all-over highlight every 3-4 appointmenst. Rachelle, the owner, always does a fabulous job and listens to what I want. I've also had several updo's done there for special events....always very sexy. Great service, great staff, great location...always offer me a cup of coffee and encourage me to "put my feet up" during the shampoos, which are also awesome!
