If you're familiar with Macy's, this one is laid out largely as expected. For example, there is a…read morebackstage area on the top floor. currently, they have some Halloween and fall themed items that are marked down. We were surprised to see that there doesn't seem to be a dedicated last act area, but the last act items are scattered throughout the floors in the different clothing sections. This makes it a little harder if you're specifically looking for off-season items and deals. We came in within the last hour and a half before closing time, and parked in the garage. Even though they made announcements about closing the doors, they blocked the doors earlier than the announcement stated. This made it very difficult to figure out how to actually exit the building, and then required of walk outside around the building to get to the garage in the dark. When I inquired about the doors, a worker told me that they closed them off early because if they don't, they get people running in through the garage entries close to closing time to grab merchandise and dash.

So when I arrived, I browsed through the different counters looking for certain brands, so I could sample them and pick out a favorite. Working on commission, the ladies selling the fragrances were constantly asking to assist me, when I asked questions or told them what I was looking for, if it wasn't their product, their attitude changed. In fact, I can say most of the clerks were snobbish and prof of why department stores are dying a slow death. Fragrance is really something I do not want to buy on line without smelling it first, but with the service I got today, I may take the risk.

I found a oversized block and popped a squat. I realized ..... this place was disgusting. The dust bunnies floating in the wind were the size of a small dog. I was reminded of being back in college when things this size were found under my roommate's bed. Quality of clothes..... hell don't ask me. The staff seemed nice enough to realize I wasn't purchasing anything and didn't need to bother their time with me.... but wow I was transported back to days of Ramen Noodles and Natty Light with that dust balls

Was told on the phone I could buy a gift card using merchandise credit, so I could use it online…read more(you can't use merch credit online). Came to the store assuming that was true. It wasn't. It took 30+ mins to determine that. The associate was not very bright and I had to explain it several times. Then she informed me she couldn't do it. When I voiced my displeasure, she told me - not "sorry you got the wrong info on the phone," - but that the person who told me that info was probably new. Then proceeded to counter everything I said with something about herself. Oh she also complained about helping me find stuff and was super sarcastic and rude upon my exit. Here's a tip: want to be in customer service? Lose the bitchy attitude and narcissistic tendencies to talk about yourself when a customer has a problem. Don't visit this location.

I love Refresh (5/5 specifically for their dresses). It's a beautiful secondhand clothing shop in…read moreBrentwood with a great cause!! (Proceeds go to St. Louis's foster care coalition--their HQ is also in this same building). They have a selection of normal clothes -- women's and men's -- on the bottom floor, along with shoes and accessories (earrings and jewelry). But what really stands out is their cute formal dress section on the second level! Perfect for prom, wedding guest, bridesmaid etc. They have floor length dresses for $35 and shorter dresses for $25. They even have a few floor length wedding gowns for brides for $100!! (Plus a section for mother of the bride dresses). I've gotten 2 formal dresses here so far with lots of compliments (wore one on a beachy vacation and another as a destination wedding guest)!! I visited again this week as I thought I'd look for a wedding dress here since they have super affordable options. I didn't end up finding a dress in my size since they only have a few but it was still really impressive they had some in stock at all! And at this price point. There were some beautiful dresses in smaller sizes as well with big princess-like ballgown-style trains. They also accept donations. You can either get a tax receipt or a $5 off coupon! The staff there have also been very friendly every time I've gone!! They have the store decorated currently for their prom season--girls who are in foster care who are accepted into their program get to shop for a prom dress for free! So cool!

**May 2025: Monday Afternoon Visit**…read more My friend and I wanted to check out the thrift scene in St. Louis, but unfortunately a lot of the charity shops were closed on Memorial Day. I called ahead to see if Refresh had different hours and fortunately, they were open! There's a parking lot behind the building and when I stepped in I was really impressed by how nicely arranged everything was. It definitely gave off boutique vibes and there's a dressing room on the top floor along with many aisles of formal/prom/wedding dresses. The price point for the casual day-to-day items were a little higher than that of a Salvation Army/Goodwill, but everything was steamed and in really good condition, plus all the proceeds are given to St. Louis's Foster Care Coalition (and no tax). The men's section was pretty small, but the women's was really stacked. When I went to the 3rd floor to check out the formal wear it was like a kid in a candy shop. They arranged the formal dresses by size and there were some really incredible finds there. Unlike downstair where everything is priced individually I believe all short dresses were $25 and the long ones were $35, and my guess is that these dresses are left over from their Cinderella project (gifting girls a fairytale prom experience without worrying about money). I think I spent almost 2 hours in the shop and I still didn't get to try everything one, but I was happy with my purchases. One thing to note in the future - I will wear proper spanx/strapless bra to improve my formal dress shopping experience. Otherwise, this charity shop is a fantastic place to support a great mission and treat yourself! It's a win-win!
