When I went to leave and take my items with me they became very pushy and possessive about holding on to my items saying they would "just hold on to them to run some ideas and let you know what we came up with" I asked multiple times for my stuff but they insisted and put some distance between me and my stuff. I didn't think much about it at the time but when I left and digested over the next couple of days I didn't like the feeling of someone else holding on to my stuff so I went back in to get the pieces back. When I returned I was told I couldn't get my stuff because they were busy trying to come up with designs etc. at this point I became more uneasy and I again left the store without my stuff. I called later to say I want my stuff back and when will it be ready to pick up and the owner gave me the spiel that I needed to support local business etc etc and said they had already started on the items. I really didn't want to be in this position and wasn't given a price but was told I'd be given a good deal. I was shocked when I went back to pick up the items at the price. I showed them to a friend of mine that was having hers done at Michael's in Acton and she was stunned at the price. Literally every item I paid approx $400 and she had hers done for about $50 each. I just felt like a fool and my trust was broken. I will never be back to the store I feel totally misled

Van Gogh's is tiny, but there is a lot of goodness packed into that little space. Tons of prismacolors, brush-style markers, clay, sculpting, and framing supplies. The prices are more than reasonable, as I suspect the core customers are starving artists and students. I wish they had twice the room and double the amount of good quality items, but Lowellians can't be choosers. That aside, the location is perfect-- sandwiched between Life Alive and the Revolving Museum. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and Lucy (the owner of Lucia) is really an upbeat individual. We came in looking for a new chandelier for the dining room and this was the most fun I have ever had looking for something for the home. This was an all around special experience. Lucy had us work w/Shiloh, who was fun, engaging, asked the right questions, and worked with our needs. We pulled up pictures of our wallpaper and the paint colors for the dining room on the computer, and we gave Shiloh as many measurements as possible and from there we found our chandelier! We went through all of the rooms, and there were at least a hundred (maybe two!) different styles of lights in each of the rooms, and she could answer questions about all of them. Sure that's what she's there for, but she did it in such a way that she was confidant in her answers and really understood how each of the lights would work in a room. That's what we needed and she delivered. She made chandelier shopping so easy! I can't wait to go back when we start planning another room...

We came in for sconces to install over our fireplace & came across some fantastic Hubbardton Forge sconces. They are hand made in Vermont and are perfect. I currently live in New York City, but I knew I wanted to go with a New England based business since Maine is home for me. I know there are a lot of New England based furniture shops to choose from, but Bostonwood seemed to offer the best value. The sales and delivery staff were all helpful, professional, and friendly. They even finished and delivered my order a little sooner than quoted. The desk is particularly beautiful and feels sturdy and well-built. The unfinished bookcase is just what I was expecting, and is a huge step up from the discount ones I used to buy back in grad school. I'll certainly return to Bostonwood in the future to replace the rest of my silly grad-school-budget particle board furniture!!
