While visiting my mother last year, I saw that she was about to throw out an old frame that adorned…read moremy childhood home. It featured a matte with many panes in different shapes and sizes, for kids' photos. Being the nostalgic type, I refused to let her throw it out - but what kind of proper framer would deign take on such a lowly task? As it turned out, Jordan and Brandon at Pitch Black were happy to rescue it. They all but rebuilt it, stiffened and straightened the matte, and handed back a handsome, drum-tight frame that will feature my kids for the next 30 years. When I returned a month later, to ask if they would print some photographs, I got to spend some time with them and observe their studio in action. I was super impressed - not just with the operation (from color correction to matte cutting, frame building and glass cutting) but with their body of work. It felt like all the presentations were different, not just variations on a theme, and I could see how much effort they put into making other people's art look spectacular. The pricing was excellent, and their positive attitudes made me want to print more, frame more, and share more of my work. For me, that's an added bonus of Pitch Black Editions: Brandon and Jordan are really cool, artistically inclined guys who are willing to do exactly what you want, or devise something fresh if you're looking to elevate your work. Cool guys, professional quality, great prices and frames that are built to last. Swing by The Bradford Mill, look for a door on the left side of the parking lot, say hello and never look back. You're in great hands with Pitch Black Editions.

I had a special piece to be framed that was dear to me, and included a metal medallion. I wanted the finished work to reflect the value and significance of my pieces, but I didn't know how to get there. Nick spent time considering several treatments and styles, and he got what I was inarticulately after. His final suggestion was perfect. Kelli delivered excellent customer service and the final product is just stunning. I'm so happy I went with Gallery Seven, and they're getting all my business from now on. Oh yeah - the price was very fair - far less than the pricy art gallery. Nick and Kelli take their business seriously, and take your treasures seriously. I think they're the best.

We found the combination that would set it off nicely with the wall and cabinet colors, I paid, and left to await the call that the job was done. Shortly after I got home, they called. They had just opened a box of new frame samples and stumbled across one they thought was perfect for my project; did I want to come back and see it? Now, I would have been perfectly happy with the original choice, and would never have known of this new option. But I went back, and it was fabulous. Dithered for a while (I did like the first frame), but ultimately the new choice was indeed perfect. Price was the same, so they were not simply trying to get more money for the job - it really was giving me a new option for my project. When I got my framed piece, it was spectacular with the new frame choice. We are really pleased, both with the piece itself and with the way they bent over backwards to give me all the options to make it perfect for my space. That was and is very much appreciated.

A friend told me she had a very good experience there but I have been there twice and each time I felt like the person behind the counter could care less whether or not I was going to be satisfied with the outcome. Several times during our fifteen minutes there, we asked for help and advice ... All the salesperson did was hand us what we asked for. Finally I said: "I think we really need your advice. Nothing we are picking out seems to look right with this painting." We finally gave up and were ready to walk out, confused by the whole experience. Then she finally said: "Well, I wouldn't put a mat or glass on a painting." She stood there that whole time watching us flounder and ask for her advice yet didn't say a word until we gave up. I couldn't believe she stood there the whole time unwilling to share her expertise with us. She was going to write our order up regardless. Did she just not care or worse, was she somehow enjoying our ignorance? We left and found another framer in Bedford who was willing and able to advise us. The painting looks amazing in the frame he helped us pick out and we are very grateful.
