This review is solely for the matcha!!! This used to be my go-to spot for matcha in NoVa and I would recommend this place to everyone when they visited Vienna. I believe they somewhat recently started pre-making the matcha, and it just hasn't tasted the same since (taste is weaker), unfortunately. I've had the Pistachio Latte and that was wonderful, though! I've heard about Frame for a long time, so I decided to try it out. I went two times and got the pistachio latte and the strawberry matcha. Unfortunately, the taste for pistachio latte was a little disappointing--it had an artificial flavor that I'm not used to. On top of that, the drink was quite expensive; a small iced latte cost over $7 after tax. The strawberry matcha was okay, but a bit too sweet. We stopped by Frame Coffee Roasters to get our caffeine for the day on a bright Sunday morning and we were very impressed with the wide range of coffee options the barista has to offer! We all love the idea of having pistachio in our coffee and hence ended up getting the Pistachio cream latte and Pistachio Latte w. Almond and oat milk. Everything was so yummy! We also tried their avocado toast as a to-go order! There was a different kind of jelly/ pickle dressing which I wasn't really a fan of, but other than that the toast was crispy and flavorful! I like how creative this cafe is in its style, the interior has monochromatic tones and I loved how they use bright colored coffee cups to complement with the decor. NEVER have I ever had a better Pistachio Latte! On a trip to DC, we stopped by this cafe to grab a quick bite and coffee. It's a small cafe but super cute ambiance, that def adds to the charm. Upon reaching, we figured it was too packed and had only handful of tables/seating so we just got their signature Pistachio Latte, Pistachio Cream Latte and a avocado toast for a to-go order. The pistachio coffee is the best; had rich espresso and very earthy, nutty notes of pistachio. The presentation was on point. The toast was crunchy and had interesting flavors. I couldn't figure out if the sweet-savory aftertaste was because of the pickles or sweet sauce. Avocado was fresh. Service was quick. We kind of just stumbled upon Frame when looking for coffee places in the area. Place is located in a small building with limited parking off of Maple Ave. We came in and first thing I noticed was that the interior was small but very clean looking. Line was long but moved fast. Staff here is very friendly and all of them take time to greet you when you come in. We've been twice and have tried the Matcha, Honey Cinnamon, Pistachio Cream, and Milky Way Lattes. All great each time. You really can't go wrong here. I just wish I had time to try their food because it all sounds good too. Definitely worth a stop in. I was in the area and decided I needed some coffee. I looked over the reviews and decided on the pistachio latte. I saw in a few reviews that it was really sweet. So asked for it less sweet. The Nutella croissant looked good, so I got that as well. I have to say I am obsessed with the pistachio latte! Not sure what the creme they put on top is but man it was delicious. A very small yet lots of personality oozes out from here. I came here after work and I honestly wanted some coffee. Thinking to myself, I have never done a coffee shop review in Vienna and so here I am! So I ended up getting the Honey Cinnamon Latte and the Signature Croffle. The Honey Cinnamon Latte tastes exactly what you expect from the name alone. Not too bitter, coffee made right with hints of honey and cinnamon taking precedence over the drink. It was very smooth so I ended up finishing it before my Croffle. A big plus in my book? The latte art was also nice to see and I think I am a sucker for good latte art. It is a work to be admired when skilled baristas do this. I got the Signature Croffle. It's a croffle with ice cream topped with syrup and cinnamon making it one big dessert not to be reckoned with. It is a lot for what you pay for and I think it does stand out. The croffle itself wasn't soft and it does take some cutting with the knife for it to cut through but paired with the ice cream it is a match made in heaven. Absolutely delicious. My biggest issue with this place isn't really the staff but the amount of tables they have out. I'm sure I came at a time where it was busy but I was eating my croffle at the counter where you order waiting for a spot. It seems to me that I just came at an unfortunate time or there's just patreons that are hogging the space; whatever the case may be I looked like an idiot eating my croffle with no table space. When a spot did open up, one of the staff wiped down the table and seat for me which was really sweet of them. They really do care about their customers and it shows. I always pass by this place on my way to work and couldn't wait to try it out one day! We got the Iced Chai Latte and Pumpkin Pie Latte, which was a seasonal drink at the time. I was so surprised by the presentation of the drinks! I was not expecting latte art because we made a take out order on their app. Both of the drinks were not overly sweet and at a perfect consistency! We also shared a BLT Sandwich. I enjoyed their house made honey mayo and it blended so well altogether. The interior is somewhat small otherwise it would a cozy spot to work, study or hang out with friends. It does get busy at certain times causing limited parking spaces in their lot, but there are more spaces in the back as well as street parking available. I hate to write this review because I hate standing in lines but ... Frame has the BEST coffee of any place I have ever had coffee. The quality and consistency is great and the baristas are well trained. The way the beans are roasted is a mystery to me but the result is a great cuppa Joe! Or Latte or... The bakery offerings are delicious. The service is wonderful and friendly. The owner supports the community and makes you feel welcome. Even though getting to Frame means going out of my way, I do it. For the coffee, for the fun, for the art. The coffee here is not just coffee, it is an artistic experience. The pistachio cream latte doesn't taste like real pistachios (doesn't have the nuttiness of pistachios/ pistachio butter) but it tastes like pistachio extract (iykyk) which I'm not a fan of - but my friend loved the drink. Loved my first experience at Frame! I've heard so many great things about the coffee and pastries I just had to try it for myself! The pistachio latte was amazing!! The pistachio flavor was not overwhelming but subtle enough. The coffee was fresh and delightful. Arrived late in the morning and most of the pastries were sold out, but enjoyed a canale. New coffee place that I wanted to give a try. I love the setup of the coffee shop. Very modern with the low bar and the camera accessories. The coffee place is fairly small. I wouldn't say it's the best place to do work with a laptop. Maybe a place to grab a coffee and go. They have outdoor seating, however. I got the pistachio cream latte - I should've gotten the regular pistachio latte; WITHOUT the cream. It did not go well for me but I would still recommend this coffee shop. There a few tables you can sit at, and I got lucky that I could choose between two empty tables. There's outlets here which is a huge plus. It's minimal and aesthetic like a lot of modern coffee shops. PISTACHIO LATTE (SMALL) - 5.25 I tried this because I've heard good things about their pistachio latte. They were out of oat milk so I just stuck with whole milk, haha. The drink is not too sweet and has a strong pistachio flavor that doesn't taste artificial. They also sprinkle pistachio bits on top. Overall, not a lot of strong espresso flavor, I wish there was a bit more oomph. ESPRESSONIC - 6.50 Decided to get a second drink because why not? It is really expensive for espresso & tonic but the drink was pretty big. Unfortunately, I found that the seltzer water they use is much too sweet for me. If you want something sweet, then I'd recommend. I was hoping to get something on the lighter side with a more prominent coffee flavor. They sprinkle a little bit of Kirkland brand pistachio and call it a "pistachio latte". As someone who loves pistachio lattes, I think the business should either notate that they use almond extract or simply not call it a pistachio latte. The egg and cheese bagel sandwich was alright and nothing to write home about. Matcha iced latte was mostly just milk and ice. I don't think I've been to a single Korean opened cafe in the east coast that serves good matcha. it's mostly for pictures. It was real expensive. can't remember the exact price but I remember thinking this must be a luxury item. Unfortunately, you're paying almost $6-8 for milk and ice and a splash of matcha. I didn't even take a picture because it was not good and I tossed it but it was not green. I should have known from the color. AMBIANCE (?/5): Can't say too much about ambiance because there is almost no seating. I think this is mostly a place for people to come in, grab and go. I have been dying to try Frame's croffle (croissants and waffles are my 2 favorite breakfast treats) and finally made the drive from Herndon on a Sunday AM. Parking was easy with a dedicated lot. I arrived around 10 with the intent to order my husband an almond croissant but they were sold out (so I recommend ordering ahead if you're not flexible). I ordered my husband a kougin aman, myself a Nutella croissant, and a croffle to split. They offer to warm up the pastries, but since I was doing takeout I warmed them up at home. The croffle was made to order and the smell on my drive home was SO tempting! I also ordered a cappuccino to go which was visually appealing but weirdly Luke warm. I ended up not drinking it. The coffee was the only miss. The croffle itself was worth the drive, and the Nutella croissant actually had plenty of filling (my pain point with most chocolate croissants) and was oozing Nutella! Honestly, I can't go to other coffee franchises or otherwise. My go-to is Vienna coffee; good to the last drop, including the foam ( use as a sort of cream for the next day's drip). Order via the Frame app and timely preparation. Notice that when the owner is present and in front of the establishment, the same drink tastes better. That is certainly the skill level of the barista. Indoors and outdoor sitting areas ate nice and quaint; however, due to close proximity it to others, conversation should not include TSI/CCI.
