    Donuts made to order
    Ken C.

The last time I had donuts from Fractured Prune was circa 2008 before the location near my home in VA shut down. It was a sad day. So when I saw multiple locations here in Ocean City, I made a plan to wake up early and get there as soon as it opened. I was greeted by the friendly manager and the employee working in the back was very efficient. There's plenty of parking here when the pizza restaurant next door isn't open yet. Okay on to the donuts. You can make your own or order some preset combinations; I chose the latter to be efficient and rush back home and I didn't regret it. Yes the size of these are a bit smaller than say, Dunkin Donuts but I wouldn't subtract any points for that. These are absolutely FREAKING DELICIOUS! When you pop one into your mouth, you are greeted by a sensation of flavors, and a nice crispy/crunchy exterior gives way to a soothing airy dough interior that satisfies all the senses. As I scarfed down my 3rd donut, I knew I was in donut heaven. I thought to myself " what if someone asked me to rank this against Duck donuts and Texas donuts?" I would say all 3 stores can live in harmony as they all contribute something different and I love them all. Custom ordered donuts -- hot off the conveyor belt -- are the only donuts I'll eat from now on.

Donuts are good, but they're smaller than what i thought. For 3 donuts was $7.58. It's a heavy small donut, was fresh and hot.

This place is great. The guy behind the counter (I think the owner) is super nice. He gave us a list of local food recommendations, which have been great. The donuts were amazing, can't wait to try some more. They were so fast, I didn't realize every donut is made fresh but you can definitely tell when you eat it.

WOWOWOWOW - I have typed, deleted, and retyped this review about three times now. And I still cannot find the words to express my experience. SUCH amazing customer service. Assuming it was the owner I was speaking to, he offered certain flavors to my friends and I - including one that was made in the honor of his mother. Honestly, it wouldn't have mattered what flavor was recommended - they were ALL good. No exaggeration. Fractured Prune was so good my friends and I returned the following day for larger orders. *see below* All with no regrets. 10 out of 10 would recommend - BEST DONUTS IN THE DMV!

Fresh warm donuts at Fractured Prune! They have a variety of donuts to choose from, or you can create your own based on the glaze you want and the toppings. Everything it made fresh for you so they come out warm and soft. We also ordered a caramel latte and iced vanilla latte. Donuts were great and the coffee was ok. The size is small so it's easy to finish. Inside decor is also very cool!

First time trying this spot as it was recommended by a local. Donuts were super good! Customer service was very unwelcoming and weird. Wouldn't go back to this location.

This is the OG and best donut shop in ocean city and it is easy to see why. Between the huge variety in flavors to the quality in every bite, this is the place to go for breakfast on your vacation. A few flavors that are standouts to me are French toast and banana nut bread. Truly there is something for everyone here. The donuts come out hot hot hot, and they stay that way all the way home. Finger licking goodness!

Located at the end of a strip mall on Coastal Highway. Can't miss the signature purple and green!

I was surprised that the Fractured Prune location at in a strip mall on Coastal Highway near 144th took this long to get on Yelp! My hunch is that people don't want to get the word out so that they can have all of these piping hot, custom glazed and topped donuts to themselves. First, let's talk through the name. In stores and on its website, Fractured Prune is explained as a nod to an OC resident Prunella Shriek from the late 1800s/early 1900s who owned land and played sports. She was sometimes injured from her assorted tennis/skiing/ass whooping Activities as she got older, so the folks around OC referred to her as "Fractured Prunella". As an older-than-millennial woman who visits Ocean City each year to play in a women's ball hockey tournament, I can relate to being a fractured female and appreciate the nod to a pioneer who went up against the guys when there weren't accessible "girl" sports. This location is just like the originals' decor with purple and lime green walls, a smiling fractured prune wearing shades, and of course, made-to-order donuts that jump right off the conveyer belt into the flavors of your choice. You have 19 glazes and 13 toppings, so there's bound to be something that appeals to you. Unless you're gluten free and health conscious. In that case, the fact that you've made it this far into this donut shop review is commendable. I always choose my own flavors instead of there suggested combinations (which do look good) and am never disappointed. This visit, I got one donut coated with peanut butter glaze, topped with Oreo cookie crumbs and chopped peanuts. The other was topped with chocolate and rainbow sprinkles. Fresh, fluffy cake donuts coated in goodness--they seem a tad smaller than a typical Dunkin Donuts donut, which is a great excuse to have at least two. ;) Not sure where the coffee is from, but it got rave reviews from the coffee snob in my group. Get it iced and take it to the beach with you! One thing that pleasantly surprised me is that even though this is a chain and there are already several locations, the people working the counter were super friendly and fast. Really glad to see that the quality at this outpost remains the same as the original. Always a treat to visit the Fractured Prune!

This is my favorite Fractured Prune location in OCMD. We were in OC for 3 days and every morning we found ourselves walking over to our local Fractured Prune. My favorite are the Morning Buzz, Peppermint Patty, Pebble Beach, Death by Chocolate and, Blueberry Hill. Aside from the mouth watering donuts, the staff at this location are excellent. They were so helpful, kind and made efforts to remember our names each day we came back :) Definitely will be returning.

This is the same owner as the super busy 127th st location. If you have a car, come up here instead. Same amazing doughnuts with no line. Kids that work here are quick and friendly. Be sure to leave them a damn tip.

I've been going to Ocean City, MD for as long as I can remember. And for just as long, I've been…read morehearing people rave about Fractured Prune donuts. How many times, in my entire life, had I actually tried one? Zero. But I was determined to change that during my solo birthday adventure to Ocean City this year. My first Fractured Prune donut in 41 years...I was more excited than I probably should have been. For those unfamiliar, Fractured Prune has been an Ocean City staple since 1976 and is known for letting you build your own donut masterpiece--starting with a hot, fresh donut and customizing it with glazes and toppings however you like. No pre-made rows of donuts here--just pure, creative, donut freedom. Since I was visiting in March (aka off-season), I wasn't even sure I'd get my chance. But I was thrilled to find this location open until 12pm on Saturdays. PERFECT. I got up early, watched the sunrise, and made my way over to finally experience the hype. I had studied the menu ahead of time because I knew if I didn't, I'd stand at the counter forever trying to decide. I landed on one donut--a Banana Nut Bread creation (banana glaze, cinnamon sugar, peanuts). I was attempting to show some level of restraint during a weekend that was otherwise...not about restraint. I walked in around 9:30am on a beautiful March Saturday and found a small crowd already inside. Clearly, even in the off-season, people know where to go. I placed my order, paid my $3.57, and asked if they had stickers as a little keepsake from my birthday trip. They were out, but the kind gentleman behind the counter offered me a magnet instead--which I happily accepted. A few minutes later, my number was called, and I was handed a purple box that felt...surprisingly heavy for one donut. I took it out to my car, opened the box, and immediately started to cry. I was on a solo birthday trip--my first one in a long time--and while I was doing my best to fill it with fun and new experiences, there was definitely a bittersweet edge to it. Inside the box weren't just my one donut--but two extra donuts and a handwritten "Happy Birthday!!" on the lid. It was such a small gesture, but it meant everything in that moment. It made me feel seen. It made me feel celebrated. And honestly, it made my entire day. The kindness of the people working there didn't have to exist--but it did, and it mattered. After I pulled myself together (and stopped crying over my donuts), I finally took a bite. I get it now. I fully get the hype. The donut was incredible--served warm, soft, moist, and perfectly cakey, with the banana glaze, cinnamon sugar, and peanuts all working together in the best possible way. It took serious self-control not to demolish all three donuts right there in the car. I'm not even sure I've ever had a truly fresh, hot donut before this--but if this is the standard, Fractured Prune has set the bar very high. For $3.57, this was one of the best purchases I've made in a long time--and eating it in the sunshine during my birthday adventure is a memory I won't forget anytime soon. Logistically, it's easy: free parking in a nearby strip mall, quick ordering, and fast service. Just note--there's no indoor seating. You grab your donuts and go...which honestly isn't a bad thing when "go" can mean taking them to the beach just a few minutes away. Fractured Prune is officially on my "must-do every time I'm in Ocean City" list. And next time? I'm not pretending I'm only getting one donut!

$20 for six donuts that were hot and moist--but somehow still disgusting. Just not good.read more

My husband whispered "This place was on the food network". I'm not surprised. The menu is bizarre. You can get a burger or chicken or egg on your donuts. Bleh. Even the donut donuts were over the top... like 5 toppings. But the family got a dozen (everyone else got like 1-2 donuts each and a lot of people were ordering their soft serve ice cream which we didn't try). Here are our reviews: 11 yr old: Score 3/10. They were OK. 13 yr old: Score 8/10. I liked them! Runner up to Fractured Prune. 54 yr old: Score 7/10. I liked them OK, a little better than Fractured Prune but I'm really a Dunkin man. 46 yr old: Score 1/10. Bleh. Like Bleh when I looked at the menu and BLEH when I looked at the donuts. I tried a couple pieces of a couple of them, and not one was enticing enough to actually desire to eat the whole thing. I'm a KK or DD fan too, and I only like 2 donuts made by FP, and they are the plainer ones. Note... they will do custom donuts, so if their suggestions are over the top, tell them what you want. They are cake donuts and there is a toppings bar (think: Subway) where you chose your glaze and toppings, and they make it in front of you. My issue was that sprinkles were in glazes, glazes in sugar, and it was all very messy. It kinda grossed me out. And there you have it. It's a novelty.
