Booked a reservation in advance (3 days) for a birthday celebration for two in the bar. We arrived 15 minutes early and was informed they contacted us earlier to let us know, they would need to move us to the dining area. To be honest, nobody called or text to change the reservation as they stated. Management stated the on line booking made errors and overbooked available tables. We were fit into the bar per our request because we did not want to be placed in the back dining area. I must say I was a bit irritated, but the bar staff was very accommodating and friendly. Dinner and bar service was great. Management should know by now, how bookings are scheduled. This is not their first rodeo at this, even being closed for several months. read more

Following a personal recommendation and reading the mostly excellent reviews, we were excited to enjoy dinner at Frackelton's on our one night in Sheridan. Unfortunately, our experience did not live up to its reputation. Both of our entrees (tenderloin and sea bass) were severely undercooked. My sea bass was raw and room temp in the middle, and my husband's "medium" tenderloin was red and bloody. The rice and veggies that came with my fish were also seriously devoid of seasoning. The "sauce" was basically brown water. After we informed our server of these issues, she was deeply apologetic, let me order a different dish, and had the tenderloin refired. Unfortunately, it came back almost as raw as when it left, still very red in the middle. At that point we were starving and getting tired, so he just ate it as is. On the plus side, I enjoyed the green curry mussels, and the Brussels sprouts appetizer was also very good. It's a shame the chefs cooking the entrees couldn't slow down and achieve even a baseline level of quality control. I am empathetic to the fact that it was a really busy night, but that's no excuse for undercooked and underseasoned food, even after it's sent back. All in all, I'm sorry to say that Frackelton's is not a recommendation that I will be passing along to others. :( read more

Quick answer- long wait, great food! Caveat- We did go at 7 on a Friday night. Wait time- busy inside, table of 4 of had to wait 25 minutes for a table. Once we got the table, we were quickly waited on, got our orders in, great server! Drinks came in a timely manner- old fashioned and mojitos, (had to wait for cups for water because even those were out!) Food took another while to arrive, but didn't disappoint, the pasta, crab cakes, burger- all savory and satiating! We had a nice table by the window, clean and very pleasant environment. Must concur with Yelpers that Frackleton's is a four star restaurant that I look forward returning to on a regular basis. The place is perfectly located in the middle of Sheridan's great historic district. Service was efficient and friendly and there's some real skill at the bar. Far from being just a beer spot we loved the gin and bourbon cocktail specials. We went light on entrees with a salad and a burger but cam away impressed with quality of both. Our overall experience here was subpar. The waitress was kind and attentive enough, but I found it annoying that she started our interaction by trying to sell us a martini in which we had no interest. We had not asked about Martinis or any other alcoholic drinks, or about beverages for that matter. It came off as an out-of-the-blue attempt to make our bill larger. We started by ordering a bowl of chili, which cost $8, was not heated adequately, and was nothing special. As my main, I ordered the buffalo short ribs special, which came with a ratatouille sauce, mashed potatoes, and string beans. When the item arrived, I asked the waitress if I would need a steak knife. She said no, it should be fork tender. This turned out not to be the case. It was possible, though it took some effort, to cut the ribs with a standard dinner knife, but they were overly chewy and not what I would describe as tender, let alone "fork tender." I have a feeling they were braised and then reheated too rapidly before being served, causing them to have this undesirable texture. The flavor of the sauce was ok but not complex, and it was thin and watery. Also I suspect the dish was overly salted because I felt an urge to drink a lot of water afterwards. My partner ordered the beet pasta, which she said was decent but nothing special. At $13 for some noodles with a few vegetables, it was certainly a poor value, like the soup. I left here dissatisfied with the food and thirsty, feeling like this restaurant didn't have the substance to back up its pretenses, and glad I didn't pay even more for a meal that wasn't worthwhile. read more

Went here for lunch. I ordered the Cesar salad and added grilled chicken. Hubby ordered the Cobb salad. The food tasted great but the portions were small. My salad had only 5-6 small strips of chicken. Our server had the beginning stages of body odor. She was nice but....hard to get past the smell. To use a phrase, this is a Yuppy place. What a wonderful find for an out of towner! Great food, service and ambiance! I had the Gorgonzola penne pasta with walnuts and chicken! It was so tasty! Excited to try this restaurant in downtown Sheridan. Unfortunately it didn't live up to its beautiful setting. Service was slow. They brought my husband a dead drink. Sat too long. We ordered a sweet potato pave with our steak and after a LONG wait it came out with sweet potato fries. They did offer to give us a free dessert which was appreciated. The steak was good not great and the salad which was supposed to have almonds and feta had very very little. Won't be running back to Frackletons. read more

We were on our way to Billings, MT, and looked up restaurants in Sheridan. So glad we stopped here... it has a really nice atmosphere and the staff was helpful and friendly! I had the Black Bean Burger, which was delicious and my husband had the Frack Burger, which he said was the best burger he's ever had! TL;DR: Great food, good service, pretty dang slow kitchen. On the plus size, they've got good portions and price that matches the quality. $14 for Mac & cheese, $23 for a steak and two vegetables. Their fries are great; the truffle fries were so good on their own I didn't even think of asking for ketchup. As for service, the waitress and hostess were very friendly. When the order was taking a little long, the waitress offered us a bread basket (no idea if it was free, but still nice). The waitress herself didn't forget about us... came to check up five times total. It took us just over an hour and a half to get our food. Seemed about the same for everyone else there, so at least they didn't forget about us in the kitchen. The kitchen is open-air, and I didn't see anyone just standing around. The place was packed and there was a large group in the other room, so I'm somewhat sympathetic. However, it was starting to seem a little ridiculous. On the plus size, they put grilled chicken (amazing) on my Mac & Cheese for free, so they handled it gracefully. I have a feeling this was just bad luck on my family's part. This is quite a gem in downtown Sheridan, WY. I used to dine at the Rib and Chop House when I was in town on business, and I was getting bored to tears by that restaurant's rather pedestrian menu offerings. I now have a new favorite place to eat in Sheridan, and that makes me happy. The wedge salad was solid, but could have used some red onion to add a bit of color and additional flavor to the ensemble. Other than that, it was quite good - a quarter wedge of iceberg covered in chunky bleu cheese dressing, bacon crumbles, and roasted almonds. Scallops were very good. Perfectly seared crust with a slightly sweet glaze of some sort, served with sautéed brussels sprouts and chunks of thick bacon. I cleaned the plate fast with this one. Curried Lamb Kebabs were wonderful. So delicious. Perfectly seasoned, spicy lamb chunks grilled on skewers. What's not to love? I could eat these all day. The duck breast was tender and flavorful, although the skin could use a bit more crispiness. The red wine jus was very nice, and the onions were perfectly carmelized, soft, and sweet. I can't stand it when restaurants try to pass off grilled onions as carmelized onions, and I was pleased to see that Frackleton's knows how a properly carmelized onion should look and taste. The fingerling potatoes were nicely browned and crisp, but they could definitely have used a liberal sprinkling of fleur de sel to amp up the flavor. Overall, it was a good dish, but a few adjustments would have made it stellar. Service was very good - prompt and attentive. read more

Had a nice night out with my wife here while on vacation and really enjoyed it. Our reservation was ready when we showed up and the staff was welcoming. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and gave us good advice. Refills were prompt. We tried the flatiron steak, lamb bolognese, apple tart, and lemon cake. The flatiron steak was exceptionally tender for that cut and the desserts were excellent. The only real negative was that prices are a little bit high for the portion sizes. read more

Tasty, fresh, and fast! We had the Mac & Cheese (creamy, rich, and delicious); Truly Beef Frack Burger (fresh avocado spread, house-made thousand island dressing, cooked perfectly) with crispy shoestring fries; and the Frack Club (thick sliced turkey, buttered and toasted bread, plenty of toppings) with delicious sweet potato fries. Just left this establishment. Plenty of issues here, many of them echoed by previous posters. First off, I ordered a $15 mussel dish that consisted of ONLY mussels. No noodles, no toast. Nada. Could have made this at home for half the price and twice the amount of food. But prior to receiving this outrageous order, our party waited OVER an hour for food, probably closer to 90 minutes. Ordered a beer, waitress forgot it, reminded her 30 minutes later. Requested condiments, they were likewise forgotten and eventually brought to us by the MANAGER. Furthermore, the manager ended up taking over our table due to incompetent staff. The waiting area accommodates 1.5 persons (if even that?). Don't go here. read more
