I had a gel French manicure done one week ago today and the polish is already chipping and discolored. I just moved to LS from Blue Springs and wanted somewhere more convenient to get a manicure. Now, full disclosure.... I work in heavy construction and am crazy hard on my hands and nails. The place I regularly went to in BS the manicure would last sometimes up to 8 weeks even being super hard on them. I'll continue to go to my old salon and will never come back here. I used Foxy Nails when I was younger, moved away and was visiting. Thought I would get my nails done, big mistake! The man who did my acrylic tips was so rude, and his nails had green nasty fungus looking nails. My nail bed and skin under my nail DIED after getting my nails done here, my cuticles were red inflamed and super itchy! It would seem the PURPLE Liquid they use is MMA, not EMA. Which is horrible for your skin and toxic. I would recommend that you go else-where to get better service and treatment. read more

This place is honestly a mess. I called one Sunday to make appointments for my cousin and I for manicures and pedicures. I had never been there before and wanted to make sure we had a secure spot. There was a definite language barrier, the woman who initially answered the phone had to pass me off to another woman. I asked her if they had any openings for two manicures and pedicures and she asked what time. I asked if we could come in at noon and she said yes. Not 15 minutes later the woman who answered the phone initially called me back, asking if we can come in at 12:30, I told her we could. We arrive for our appointments and right off the bat felt super rushed. We were over picking out our color (it was my cousins first time getting her nails done) and had a guy come over to us multiple times telling us our pedicure chairs were ready. We finally sat down and while my nail tech was pretty nice, my little cousins' (who is only 12) was super unprofessional and rude. He would pause turn around and watch the Chiefs game and was really inpatient, he obviously didn't want us there. My cousin ultimately ends up getting moved over to the pedicure table before I do, and when I got done there weren't enough seats, so my nail tech began to do my manicure from the pedicure chair... One of my pet peeves. He finally was forced to move me over to a manicure table because I was doing gel and there was no outlet for the light they use to cure the nails. When my manicure was finished I walked over to sit by my cousin and that was when I realized the nail tech had put tips on her nails. I was furious because one I had told her nail tech specifically that she was doing dip powder, I said nothing about tips. Secondly, you ask a 12 year old who has never gotten her nails done before if she wants tips, yet I'm the one paying. Needless to say I spent well over $150 for both of us and got the absolute worst service of my life. One week in and my toe nail polish has chipped and I've had polish stay on upwards of 3 weeks. I absolutely do not recommend this place. Also a side note, multiple people came in saying they had an appointment and were forced to wait well over their appointment times so be wary. read more

Tried a new salon. Just wasn't happy with my old one. And I must say Lee was great. My Shellac nails we're perfect.I liked that they got the utensils they used on me out if a sterile sealed bag. Very nice place. Didn't like how the employees talked among themselves frequently in another language. And the girl I talked to on the phone was not so nice. But the work by Lee was 5 stars. Came in today with a friend to treat her to a pedicure and dip. I've come here off and on when I'm in the area. My normal nail lady is in Liberty but foxy use to be my go to when I was in LS. We sat down for pedicures and they were not bad until my guy dropped the acetone brush on the ground then picked it up and continued using it. I was in too much of shock to say anything at the time. My nails had already been started at that point otherwise I would have left after the pedicure. I think I flustered the nail tech by asking her if my pinky was even after filing because she then seemed to be frustrated with the rest of the clipping and filing. None of which were even but it was too far gone at that point to worry. She got my colors and I noticed one was way more pink than what I had chosen but I kept checking the # I took a picture of and she grabbed the correct number. They must have them mixed up on the display because it's a completely different color. Lastly she cut my thumb and acknowledged the fact that she did so and apologized which I appreciated very much; however being charged full price after seemed a little silly. Not to mention it makes me really hope they properly sanitize after every client because she kept using the same tools after. Made me wonder after I left if it had happened to someone else before me and it possibly wasn't sanitized correctly . Needless to say $125 later I'll go back to my normal lady. I was a walk in this morning with the intention of getting a pedicure and manicure. I only waited 5 minutes before I was taken back to the spa chair (even though they were busy after only being open 15 minutes on a Monday morning!) I paid $25 for the pedicure that easily lasted 45 minutes. It was bliss. My manicure was just as relaxing. I work in a kitchen, so polish is a no-no. But I do like my cuticles cleaned up and the hand massage. She gave me a deal on my manicure since there was no polish involved. No one else has done that for me before, it was very refreshing. The decor is modern and clean, the tools are sterilized, and I got to watch the price is right this morning. :) I will be making appointments here from now on, as they seem to be a busy salon. Overall it's a nice environment. They all welcomed me and I got a seat right away. I personally feel like if you want long nails then they are not the place for you. I asked for medium and got short but I was okay with it, most people wouldn't like it. Everyone else around me had short nails as well. They did talk a lot but they were working fairly quickly. I was in and out in an hour and a half which I appreciated because I had somewhere else to be. Very perfect for a last minute place to score a short full set with some pretty gel polish. They listened to EXACTLY what I wanted and delivered a top notch service. I am in the beauty industry and consider myself a sanitation inspector...the salon was very clean and the instruments were taken out of a sterilized bag. Terrible customer service! My friend and I arrived 1 hour before closing for a dip manicure they barely acknowledged us, they were clearly arguing over who would help us. The nail tech only spoke to me once to ask me to pay her before she painted my nails. I'm mad at myself now for tipping 20% it was awful and my nails are all smudged and uneven. The last time I ever come to this salon! Their service is horrible! I could call and schedule an appointment 2 days ahead and I'd still have to wait 30 minutes to an hour to get my appointment going, EVEN WHEN I ASKED FOR A SPECIFIC PERSON! The woman doing my nails was very rough with my nails and was barely making eye contact with me and loudly chewing her gum and looking around/away while filing my nails and gave me a completely different shape than the one I asked her for. She made me to pay before she finished and I ended up regretting it because they look like something a 2 year old would do! She was rushing to finish my nails and I'm not really sure why considering it was 2 pm on a Sunday. Their customer service is ridiculous and the brand of acrylic they use is extremely cheap and starts lifting after a week. 10/10 would NOT recommend. read more

I am very new to the area and was trying to find someone to do my nails . I am very picky or particular on how my nails look. I finally came across Tims work from foxy nails and fell in love and he did not disappoint. Let me start by saying I walked into the salon and was greeted immediately and someone started on my pedicure. The pedicure was amazing. One of the best I've had by far. I got gel on my toes as well. He took his time with everything. The lady who painted them also took her time and did enough coats so the gel wasn't see through which I hate . When it was time for my nails, Tim was very honest and told me I needed a new set, which made me happy because I'd rather pay the extra money at first rather than having nails breaking left and right and having to pay to get them fixed. He popped them puppies off and got to business. I went from square to coffin shape and when I tell you the shape is perfect!!!!! I don't know how it could be anymore perfect . Majority of the nail techs are rude, including the owner. They pick and choose who they want to service and acknowledge. I asked a nail tech for a specific service that I did not know she couldn't do until she attempted several times and kept having to ask another nail tech what to do. The nails continued to look horrible, so eventually I ended up asking the nail tech who knew how to perform the service if I could schedule an appointment with her so that she could provide the service that I've been wanting. She refused to do it since I had gone to the other nail tech and was very rude about it in front of other nail techs and customers. There are too many other nails salons in Lee's Summit, and Foxy Nails or Nailtoepia (same owner and the same rude attitudes) are not ones that I would recommend. I've been needing a new nail salon since moving south and I went to Foxy Nails for a dip manicure. The guy who was doing my nails was more focused on the front door than he was with my nails as he was trying to direct all the new people coming in (at one point he used the nail buffer on the skin of my finger). The only thing that saved this review is that I don't think he charged me for the gel polish top coat or nail repair he did since I only paid $35. Also my nails somehow ended up looking good and the dip polish has lasted as long as the nail salon I often frequented before. Overall I would consider going back and giving them another try but only if I got another nail technician who provided better customer service. read more

Tim is THE BEST around! I have been going here for over a year now and I will not go any where else. I know that can a bit much to deal with about my nails but he does exactly what I want and with a smile on his face while doing so. He gets me in and out in no time! Other than my service the place is clean and everyone seems like they love what they are doing which makes it that much more enjoyable. The gentleman that worked on my oldest daughter's nails talked negativity about customers after they left. They were trying to figure out if a gentleman that had just gotten a pedicure was a Chiefs player and kept calling the guy cheap. I've been going to Foxy for years along with my mom and sister. We've had a few visits that weren't as good but we have now found the nail technicians we like and the ones we absolutely will not go to. All that being said, I walked in the other day (I didn't have an appointment so I knew there may be a wait) and after not being greeted as we walked in the door we were finally asked what we needed. After we told them a pedicure and polish change the response was "it's going to be a long wait." They didn't care to ask if that was ok with us or if we would like to wait. After asking to see Paul when he's done the guy continues to look down at the nails he was working on and said Paul's busy. We walked out. For as great of a job as Foxy does on nails, they are seriously lacking in customer service. It seems you are inconveniencing them when you walk in the door and they have to stop to ask you what service you would like. The owner, Helen, is always rude and it seems it may kill her to smile. Don't even bother asking for a polish change because it's a waste of their time since it costs so little, or at least that's how it seems. Last time I got a polish change on my fingers, I went to pay with card (I know they like cash but I had forgotten that day and only had enough for a tip). As I was paying, I handed him my card and, as I was holding my wallet on the counter, he looked in my wallet and told me I had cash. (I needed to use the small amount of cash I had for something else). I was so caught off guard that he had looked in my wallet that I gave him the cash. After that all I had left was $1 for tip. I was going to give more cash tip when I was going to pay with card. Even after this service, I gave what I had which was a $1 tip. The guy chuckled and took the tip. On a better note, Paul, Hanna, and Tony are amazing! Foxy is lucky to have them (along with a couple others) because they are the reason I will go back. In the future I will just make an appointment so I have to deal with most of the other staff as little as possible. read more

I visited this nail salon on the recommendation of a friend, and based on some of the reviews found online. I'm allergic to acrylic powder (or the solution it's mixed with, not sure which) that's normally used for nail sets and fills. The salon I used to go to would use the hard gel that hardens under UV light instead. It costs more, but they look and feel more natural, and it doesn't cause an allergic reaction. My first impression wasn't great. No one even acknowledged me and my daughter for about a minute, didn't even look up and say they'd be right with me-just ignored me. When I got a nail tech I explained my allergy and asked her to do a new full set with hard gel. She had no idea what I meant, and kept telling me she couldn't put on nail tips with gel POLISH. I explained I wasn't talking about gel POLISH, but hard gel made for nail tips and fills. She then says you can't put on tips with gel, and I told her my old salon had been doing it for me for about 10 years, long before gel POLISH ever got popular. I told her never mind, I would try another salon and started to leave. Then suddenly, "Helen", who said she was the owner, came over when she saw me leaving, and said she could do the gel set. She said she's the only one who does them, and the nail tech wasn't familiar with the service. What??!! Only one person there does this service and what, she keeps it a secret from the nail techs?? Even if that was true, I would think the other nail techs would at least be aware that someone there does it. Helen said she could fit me in if I waited for her to finish with her client. I waited while my daughter got a mani/pedi, but by the time my daughter was done and Helen finally finished, I had gotten a really uneasy feeling. I felt like they were so anxious to keep a customer from leaving that they would tell me whatever I wanted to hear. I had no idea what I would end up getting after all that, and I wasn't going to pay for something I felt uneasy about. I paid for my daughter's mani/pedi and told her no thanks. I don't feel like Helen was honest with me, and I wouldn't recommend this salon for that reason. read more

I bought a $80 dollar gift card from this place about two weeks ago. When my girlfriend got her nails and feet done today the person that was checking her out was very unprofessional. He kept saying that the gift card only had 25 dollars on it and my gf politely gave him the receipt where it showed that it was in fact 80 dollars. He then proceeded to yell to his other co workers. As a result making a big scene, which made my girlfriend very uncomfortable and super embarrassed. The manager came over and told my gf that the gift card did in fact have 80 dollars. The co worker proceeded to check her out and said it was 65 dollar total and informed my gf that he was going to give her 20 back and to give him 5 dollars and she said I don't have 5 dollars. So he went to the back and got 15 dollars worth of ones and slammed it down on the table which causing a scene once again. Not only will she not be coming back due to this experience. But also my mother and two sisters will not be coming back in as well. You just lost 4 customers! You all should be embarrassed of your behavior! read more

I am super picky about how my nails are done and how i am treated when getting them done. I have been to foxy nails a few times now and they have done great every time! They haven't cut me or hurt my nails. They ask how i want things done and if i'm happy with how it looks before they go on to the next step. They work well with you and care about you. The technician talked to the man next to us ( also technician) laughing and chatting in non english language. I thought it was pretty rude. Actually , everyone was quite aloof and disengaged. Then my friends forget to say that they wanted acrylics and the staff laughed at them for not knowing what it was called because they were supposed to say a full set. Terrible experience! DO NOT GO TO THIS SALON As soon as my mother in law and I arrived we felt like we were intruders. Not very friendly customer service. Then we noticed how dirty and dusty the place was. The only reason we stayed was because we needed our nails done asap. My mother in law called three times before our appointment to make sure the price was accurate and they raised it $10.00 just between calls! We clearly explained what we wanted and they seemed to understand (french tips are not uncommon) and then they sat us on opposite sides of the salon. Kind of disappointing since we came there together. Then the woman doing my nails starts clipping them really close (my nails had been nice and long before) and then doing the shellac gel. I thought maybe she decided for the tips to all look uniform they needed to be shortened and tips added. Then she starts painting half of the little nail I have left white! So I say that wasn't what I wanted. That I wanted long pretty nails, not short and half white to which she acts like she doesn't understand. So the entire salon gets in on the conversation saying that we had not been clear on what we wanted (they were not doing my mother in law's nails right either). So in order to get the nails we wanted we ended up having to pay $25.00 more! Ridiculous! So they send us both to new people and the guy who did my nails kept using HIS FINGER NAIL to push my cuticles back! Disgusting! Not to mention both people who helped me had yellow nails with clearly dirt under them. I was really concerned I would get some kind of infection. My poor mother in law also got nicked a few times and was bleeding from their carelessness! This was by far the worst experience I've had at a nail salon. First, when they sat me down in a chair the water was cold. I messed with the buttons on the chair for about 20 seconds before asking if I was doing something wrong and told them that it wasn't working. They then told me, "Sorry, that chair is broken. We'll have a new one in about 2 months." When someone sat down to start on my pedicure he had me put one of my feet up and began to remove my old nail polish off. He then stopped to go do someone's nails instead. About 15 minutes later someone finally came to do my pedicure. She gave me warmer water and did okay, other than rushing through the process and being very rough. I love FOXY nails and I am a regular, but I brought my 13 year old daughter in for a gel manicure. The technician, Lee I think it is, didn't file or cut her nails, did no massage with lotion or put any oil on her cuticles. He seemed very rushed and did a pretty sloppy job. I know she's a young girl, but when you pay the same price for a child as you do for an adult the work needs to be just as good. She was pretty sad about it... I wanted to get a gel manicure and spa pedi 1 day before the holiday (Independence Day) and the salon was busy but that was to be expected. My pedi was rushed and poorly done. I've never had a spa pedi last 15 minutes and sit soaking for 45 minutes. The guy who did my spa pedi appeared to be frustrated and irritable. Sweaty wiping his sweat with his gloves. My gel manicure lasted 4 days after being told it would last more then 2 weeks..Disappointed. I decided to go back and have the salon redo the gel manicure. Spoke with the owner and she was nice. The guy who redid my gel manicure was speaking in his language the whole time with another employee. Looked at me several times and then began to laugh with the other employee. Very rude. Not once did he ask how my day was going etc. Both visits to the salon, dirty environment. Towels all over the sink when going to wash my hands. Towel I used to dry my hands was stained pretty bad. Bathroom trash was full and spilling over. That was on both occasions. Overall I love the decor and the massage chairs are nice and luxurious but I will not visit again or refer any business. read more
