I stopped coming here for a bit because pandemic stress/I needed the ability to schedule…read moreappointments online and they were still phone only. Well, after several misfires I decided to go back to where I know people will not rip me off and came back. They now have an online appointment request form which is pretty easy to navigate and I got my request approved quickly, which isn't an easy feat as they are always busy. They still offer the same amenities (coffee, hand sanitizer) and touchpads/keyless drop off for COVID-19 compliance. This time I didn't tell them I go to local med school and they still treated me fairly, which I appreciated. There was a mix up at the front desk because there were two similar cars, one needed filters and tires replaced and I, knowing from my maintenance schedule, needed my rear brakes and oil filter replaced (among other things but those were the big ones). After telling me I didn't need both cabin and oil filters replaced, one of the workers came back and told me I did, by *bringing my air filters to me in the lobby where other patrons were waiting*, telling me "it's time to be replaced". It was weird because it felt like he was shaming me for not maintaining my car after someone else had a conversation with me about not needing that part fixed. I told him that I will do whatever I need to do in order to get my car running well, but told him about the mix up conversation I had and he was pretty rude to me about it. Ultimately, I paid for all the recommended repairs here even though I was quoted cheaper elsewhere because I like John, since I first met them, him and his team have always been kind and honest with me and I want to support local businesses. However, I was just, more than anything, really hurt by what happened. Maybe they just have a lot of customers being very rude/reactionary when it comes to servicing, but that's not me and it never has been. I know I haven't been here in two years but I still recommend JP to everyone who asks for a quality shop. I honestly still recommend JP, but I will probably talk to Paul or Art next time. Pros: Honest shop, off the highway, takes payment over the phone, covid compliance Cons: Gets swamped quickly, may take a while to get your appointment/finish repairs. The earlier the better, especially if they need to get parts.

I will continue to use them, as I believe anyone can have a bad day. They did find a serious safety issue I am thankful for. Middlesex Auto and their partner shop, Tony's Auto Services, were life savers on a recent cross…read morecountry trip. After driving 12 hours the previous day, I knew I needed my SUV looked at before another 12 hour day. I arrived just after 7AM, and Javi (at Tony's) was gracious enough to take a look even though their schedule was packed for that day. He determined my wheel barrings needed to be replaced, and brought me directly into the shop/under my vehicle to talk through a few issues and things I should be watching out for (knowing full well any future repairs wouldn't go to them as I'm obviously from far out of state). When the owner came in, he talked me through my options and squeezed me into his second shop to actually get the work done. He ordered the parts and offered to drive me to his other location (which was unneeded but appreciated), and they were expecting me and immediately got to work on my vehicle. The receptionist quoted me 3 hours and offered to drive me up town to kill time along their main street. I again declined but spent some time wandering up there, got a great breakfast, etc. After 2 hours she called and said she'd put an additional mechanic on my vehicle to save time and that it was ready. They even knocked off the additional cost of labor even though it still took the same (or more) man hours to actually complete it! They made further recommendations like replacing my tires (again, knowing they wouldn't benefit from it), and were very honest about what could and could not wait. Middlesex and Tony's fully took care of me, working me into their already too-full schedule, got me on the road, and I was able to finish my trip to see my family. Their honesty, workmanship, and desire to truly help people was very apparent, and I would recommend them all day long.

I didn't realize until after the part was in the vehicle that I was essentially purchasing the premium OEM (Magna Flow brand) version of the potential catalytic converters I could have installed, I asked them for the part number and after visiting the website of the manufacturer, realized they applied a significant upcharge. Personable and good customer service, it was damn expensive though.

By 1:30 they had diagnosed the issue and let me know what the cost would be and let me know the car should be ready for pick up by the end of the day. I gave them the go ahead, and at 3:30 my car was ready! I got there right at closing due to traffic, and luckily caught everyone as they were heading out. They let me know in the future to just give them a call if I'm running a few minute late so I don't waste a trip over there. But I got everything paid for, and drove off my car, as good as new! Will definitely be back next time I need a routine service or something else more pressing checked out!

I tried the facility that tested my emissions, the garage I'd been going to for 14 years to service our three cars and a "highly recommended" garage-all in Shelton. None of them would even give me an estimate!?! They all said or implied that the job was too complicated and wouldn't be worth their time. Then, a friend told me about AK and Gustavo, the manager. I brought my car to him along with the emissions test results. Within 15 minutes, he gave me an accurate estimate and we scheduled my car for repairs. Three days later, my car was running like new. It had tons more power, ran very smoothly and I'm even getting better gas mileage. AK is somewhat far from my house, but it is well worth the trip for such great service. Thank you Gustavo and crew. They also offered me a military discount when they saw the plates on the car of the family member who dropped me off (retired marine).
