Foxfield Inn is simply but beautifully decorated with comfort and luxury in mind. The bedsheets feel like butter and the soaking jet tub are not to be missed after a day of hiking, wineries, or sightseeing! The grounds are beautiful with a gazebo, fire pit, and small pond. We enjoyed a delicious three-course breakfast every morning. We suggested Brigitte should write a cookbook! She says she is thinking about it but needs more recipes. We stayed at Foxfield Inn for 3 nights this past week in Charlottesville. What a spectacular experience! The property is beautiful, clean and quiet. Not only that, Brigitte, the owner/innkeeper, is fabulous. I call her the queen of breakfasts. I literally couldn't stop talking about her breakfast quiche for days (and my bf can attest to that lol) to the point that I asked her for the recipe! You best believe that I will be making that quiche at home. I can't say enough great things about Brigette and how wonderful Foxfield Inn is! I don't come to Charlotteville often anymore as I live in Colorado now, but I will be staying at Foxfield Inn every time I come to Charlottesville in the future, and have already recommended this quaint bed & breakfast to family & friends! We stayed in the Garden room and LOVED it. It was tucked away in the corner of the house, and we had our own porch/rocking chairs outside to ourselves. Although there were other guests staying in other rooms, I could not hear them at all in the morning/evening. Not only that, about a day after we checked out. I realized that my bf's suit was left hanging in the closet. We were flying out to Colorado that morning, and obviously could not go back to Charlottesville to pick up the suit. Brigitte kindly shipped out the suit for us! Needless to say, she is a gem. I couldn't ask for a better experience....Thank you Brigette!! My husband and I stayed at Foxfield Inn for our anniversary and baby moon, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. We had a wonderful stay at this relaxing and cozy bed and breakfast! We stayed in the Hunt Country room. The king bed was very comfortable and had a romantic fireplace to keep the room warm. The room came with a jacuzzi bathtub that was perfectly sized for two. The Inn as a whole was very clean throughout and has great amenities. There is a coffee and tea bar in the hall for guests to use, and the Inn keeps it stocked with small snacks like nuts and popcorn. Guests can also relax in the hot tub out back or sit by the fire pit. The Innkeeper and owner Brigitte is lovely, and her cooking was amazing! Each breakfast started with a fresh cut fruit cup, baked good, juice, and coffee. We requested a savory main course, so we also had a small sweet dish to finish. Brigitte was mindful of our dietary preferences and did not disappoint with presentation or service. The Inn is conveniently located only a few miles from downtown and several hiking trails. Perfect place for a romantic getaway. This was our first time going to a Bed and Breakfast and it exceeded all our expectations, this place is unique. It has a very convenient location and an outstanding service that goes further than any 5 star hotel. We loved this BnB. The proprietor, Brigette, is gracious and very helpful. We are seniors, she took our bags in and out of our car without being asked. The gourmet breakfasts were served in either the living room or the dining room, with the patio an option. You have a lot of privacy. We had the Hunt room, with fox hunt art on the walls, a comfortable wing chair and sofa, one of those huge jetted bathtubs and a separate shower. The room and bathroom were spotless. Lots of towels. They freshen up the rooms daily. We'd love to return. read more

Excellent B&B. Quiet location about 15-20 minutes from downtown Charlottesville and Monticello. There's only five guest rooms in the building, each of which is fairly similar with a nice 2 person whirlpool tub and a gas fireplace. A common kitchenette provides water, soda, coffee, tea, and ridiculously good freshly baked cookies. Dan and Kathryn are great hosts. They give you plenty of space, but it's easy to reach them if you need something. Lots of attention to detail. The rooms are spotless with a bottle of wine waiting for you. Breakfast at the communal table is a fun time. You get to learn a little about the other guests while enjoying a 3 course start to the day that puts most restaurants to shame. Free wifi signal is a little weak, but you should be out enjoying the town anyway. I'd definitely recommend Foxfield. read more

Our second time at this delightful Inn and first time under new ownership with Brigitte. The challenge with a 2nd visit with new ownership is comparison with the exquisite hospitality found with prior stay. Staff are again friendly and we were greeted and shown around and to our room. Small things are noticeable that demonstrated that upkeep and service is not as good as prior. Pictures and sconces had a layer of dust. Bathroom towel rack bar kept falling apart and we left it hoping it was repaired - never was. Rubber protector on end of bed fell off and I laid it on the bed hoping it would be glued back - found it on the middle of the floor upon return. Breakfast was disappointing. First morning was a corn and bacon frittata - think more corn pudding with egg and rather tasteless. Bacon was hard and overcooked. With both - my thought cooked the night before and warmed up. The property with garden is beautiful yet since our last visit 4 years ago there is an increase of traffic. We were in a room in the front of the house and is noisy enough to wake up to the buzz. Seeing new developments along this road it will probably only get worse. We hope good luck with new owner and hope attention to detail will improve. read more

I can't imagine a more exquisite Inn than Foxfield. Brigitte is the consummate Innkeeper. No detail has been overlooked. Immaculate hot tub, beautiful room, the most comfortable beds with silky smooth sheets, a make up mirrors and towels, even a charger for electric cars. The breakfasts were out of this world with at least 3 courses: orange ricotta pancakes, Foxfield eggs with smoked Turkey and French toast with pecans and mandarin oranges. Every night she put oatmeal cookies, nuts and brownies on a counter for our enjoyment, along with sodas, water and a Keurig coffee maker. The warmth of Foxfield is the direct result of the care and commitment of the Innkeeper Brigitte Butz. She is passionate about her Inn and the comfort of her guests. She is attentive without being cloying, a gentle soul who exhibits authentic kindness. read more

It is in a rural location five miles from Charlottesville's main drag right across the street from the location of the annual Foxfield (Steeplechase) Races. Why stay at Boar's Head when you can stay at a superior place for less money. It's got four rooms, so make reservations. My wife and I stayed one night, went on our travels and went back because we enjoyed it so much. My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon. We came right after Christmas and left right before the new year. This place is INDULGENT. The innkeeper, Bridget, was so lovely and welcoming. The property is quite remarkable. So incredibly cozy and romantic. She made delicious breakfasts each morning which were the highlight of our stay. There is a table outside the bedrooms which is always stocked with coffee, tea, cookies, fruit, popcorn, sodas etc. We stayed in the Hunt Country Room. It had a gas fireplace, comfortable bed with the most luxurious sheets I've ever felt, deep soaking tub in the bathroom, robes and slippers. I could go on and on about how much we enjoyed ourselves. Outside in the back there is a hot tub which was very relaxing and special, especially in the cold weather. The innkeeper was very careful to follow social distance guidelines, mask wearing policy etc. We had the most relaxing, romantic, and special time here. This is a great place for anniversary getaways or a nice place if you just want to enjoy some quiet and soak in some time by the fireplace. We will be back! read more

What can I say. 5+ stars easily. This place was fantastic. If you're staying in the area and not here, you are doing yourself a disservice not staying here. I am kind of a cheapo so the price at first (we booked online) set me back. But when we showed up I felt that right away we had made the right choice. Katherine and Dan were so accommodating once we showed up to when we left. And the price just includes so much more than what you would be getting anywhere else that it turns out to be a great deal. We stayed in the Garden Room, so had a view of the back yard which is really something. The room was big and very clean with a fireplace, fairly big bathroom with a jacuzzi tub, and enough space to relax. Everyday we enjoyed complimentary cookies, wine, sodas, and bottled water. And the morning breakfast was just to die for. The only regret we can come up with is that we should have signed up for the dinner package because Katherine's cooking is just great. When we visit again, this is definitely the first place we will look at for availability. read more

My husband and I recently stayed here for our 10 year anniversary and it was SO GREAT! Dan and Kathy were so friendly but not in an "in your face" kind of way. We felt as if we were guests in their beautiful home but still had the privacy of a traditional hotel. We arrived early- not expecting our room to be ready yet- but it just so happened to be ready anyway. We stayed in the Rose Room- aptly named for its pretty rose accented decor. After dinner in the city, we took advantage of the robes and slippers provided and walked out to the hot tub for a relaxing nightcap under the stars. Breakfast was quite easily the best breakfast I've ever had. She served small portions of each course but there was plenty of food to be fulfilled. This was my first experience with a bed and breakfast so I was unprepared for the lack of choice in the meal, but I'm actually glad in the end because I would have missed out on the interesting and delightful new flavors. We dined with another traveling couple from overseas and had a nice conversation indeed. If we head to Charlottsville again, we will certainly check for availability in this B&B!! read more

The Foxfield Inn is the finest B&B I have ever visited. The accommodations were perfection--soft linens, spacious rooms and gas fireplace. There were several beautiful rooms to relax in with our travel companions. Our hosts, Kathryn and Dan were beyond gracious and always sensitive to our needs. They presented us with an amazing charcuterie platter at the last minute when we decided not to venture out for dinner. Kathryn's cooking was delicious! OMG. Where do I start. This is my first every yelp review. I'm glad that it could be a pleasant one. Mr. Dan and Mrs. Kathy are amazing. I planned an surprise weekend for my girlfriend. Mr. Dan was very much willing to help me out. The property was very nice and clean. The other guest were also very friendly as well. Everyday day there were fresh cookies and coffee. Which I must say I took advantage of lol. Chocolate chip was my favorite. We slept in the garden room. The fire place and Jacuzzi tub were great. I'm 6'1 and I could fit very comfortably in the tub with no problem. The sheets were so soft that all of the guest talked about them over breakfast the next morning lol. Mr. Dan as well as the other guest pointed us in great direction to a few wineries that were awesome. I believe we went to five total within a 30 minute drive from the property. One of my highlight moments I have to give to Mrs. Kathy. When I took my girlfriend to dinner. She set up the room with REAL rose pedals and candles. So when we came back to the room my girlfriend was in total shock. Thank you guys for an wonderful experience. you definitely set the bar high. I totally recommend Foxfield inn. read more

This place is incredible. We were pretty torn about where to spend the night and we settled on the Foxfield even though it was a little expensive ($225 a night.) It was completely worth it. The proprietors, Katherine and Dan, are sweet as pie. We stayed in the Rose Room which had a beautiful 4-poster bed, fireplace and a double jacuzzi bathtub that was about 7 feet deep. They also have these amazing homemade chocolate chip cookies, wine on arrival, an amazing breakfast, a hot tub in the back and so many other wonderful, thoughtful things. The only drawback was that it was a little noisy in our room because it was right by the front door (and the cookies.) Otherwise, it is very romantic and only about 10 minutes from Charlottesville. read more

I highly recommend the Foxfield Inn! My husband and I just spent our 10th anniversary there. I usually don't like spending that much money on lodging, but it was well worth the money we spent. As other people have said, there is free wine and cheese served at 5 pm everyday, a hot tub in the backyard, and sits in a lovely location. Most of the rooms are decked out with gas fireplaces and in-room Jacuzzi tubs and are neat and clean. Kathryn and Dan were wonderful hosts and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and luxurious. I am on a very limited diet right now and Kathryn still accommodated my diet at the yummy 3-course breakfast. She cooked 3 different types of breakfast for the 10 people staying there - a regular diet, a gluten-free diet and a non-dairy, non-gluten, vegetarian diet for me. In the afternoon incredible homemade cookies show up and she accommodated the gluten-free guests with scrumptious gluten-free cookies! Beverages are always available. It is the best B&B in the area. In the morning over breakfast we were chatting with other people who were staying there. It was fun meeting people from all over and getting their opinion of what to see in the area. One couple has traveled to Charlottesville many times and has stayed at different places. They said this is the best B&B in the area. I believe it! Email communications were excellent and allowed us to begin our search for dinner reservations, they even offered to help. Day 1: We are in the Garden Room. While the room is a bit small, it is beautiful and I love the view you get while lying on the bed: It's a large bay window that looks into the trees and garden area...The birds come visit the feeder just outside so it's like watching an ever changing picture. Impressed by the absolute cleanliness of the place -not a speck of dust anywhere- and the attention given to making everything as comfortable as possible for their guests. Fresh cut flowers in the room...wine in a glass magically appears...A bed with such luxurious sheets and pillows. Two-person jetted tub with wonderful scented bath salts...Right now I am in heaven. We celebrated our 35th anniversary there in June and it was fabulous! The breakfasts were great, the amenities first-rate, our room and furnishings top of the line. We bundled in a wonderful dinner at the Ivy Room (the foie gras is to die for!), champagne and cake in our room, and beautiful dozen roses still going strong over a week later. They asked us if we wanted a glass of wine, and gave us a tour of the house. The Inn is very clean, quiet, and peaceful. We stayed in the Audubon Room. I loved the little bird decorations throughout this room! Its a very romantic room! The room is very spacious and features a lovely fire place, a canopy bed, a bay window, and a spacious two person Jacuzzi bathtub. We also took advantage of the spacious hot tub outside the inn! Also, the breakfast at Foxfield Inn was prepared beautifully every morning. The breakfast is a 3 course meal. My favorite breakfast meal during my stay was: coconut muffins with fruit, waffles with homemade pork sausage, and then a homemade pistachio vanilla ice cream for dessert. There is also delicious home made cookies, coffee, and soft-drinks provided in the communal kitchen at all times. There are also plenty of things to do around the inn. The inn is relatively close to the Downtown Mall which has plenty of delicious restaurants to dine at and unique stores to visit. The Inn is also nearby wineries and the Shenandoah Valley if you are a nature person. I definitely recommend this Inn for a nice little getaway. read more
