Beautiful setting. Great for accommodating large groups (just make sure you call ahead). This was one of the three stops we made on my friend's bachelorette weekend. We enjoyed the wine & the view. We also had a large reserved table for our group where we were able to spread out our snacks and share some wine. Because we were away from the tasting bar, our tastings took a bit longer than usual, but we were gabbing and hardly even noticed. Outside was beautiful. Equipped with picnic tables and a stunning view of the vines with the mountains behind it. We got some great pictures here of our whole group and were really happy with our experience. Fourteenth stop of our wine tasting weekend - Sunday 2:30pm. Rating - 3.5. We've been to Grace Estate a couple of times over the past ten years. They make decent wine in a beautiful tasting room, overlooking picturesque grounds. We learned today that a new winemaker started during the pandemic; he employs a "spontaneous fermentation" process that is more natural and uses fewer sulfites. As someone who sometimes experiences headaches from sulfites, I appreciate this. We chose the red flight (see photo). They also offer a white flight, five wines for $16. The Petit Verdot (part of the tasting) and Cab Franc (extra taste) were standouts. The hubs also really liked the Beril, a blend of mostly Tannat. It's a worthwhile stop on your wine tasting adventure. read more

Gorgeous place with lovely views. A little mismatch between current website and actual practices. Website indicated three different flights (red, white, or traditional mixed) but only the mixed was available. There is plenty of room to spread out using picnic tables in their ample lawn or at comfortable tables and chairs on the deck. This gorgeous day, inside tables were marked as reserved. My wife and I love going to Virginia's wineries, but I'm no oenophile. My favs from the flight were their whites and their dessert wine. This was our second winery of the day so we considered splitting a flight but opted for two. The difference in the pours for the two flights was rather significant, so I took the smaller pours. And by significant difference I mean some of mine were close to half as much as hers. It didn't really throw us off at all, but could see where it could be a problem. read more

So glad we decided to stop by Grace Estate on a beautiful afternoon! It's one of the few wineries in the area that offers three different tastings to choose from: classic (mix of whites and reds), whites, or reds. All tastings are $9 which is great because reds only tastings (which I prefer) tend to have an upcharge. The staff was lovely and knowledgeable, and we really enjoyed the wines. I was surprised at how much I liked their rosé - a darker rosé compared to others in the area and was so refreshing on a hot summer day. There are a decent amount of seating options both inside and outside (a deck with tables covered by umbrellas and a grounds area with picnic tables) with beautiful views. Very friendly and easy to find winery. There was a good list from whites to reds to dessert wines. In addition to the official wine tasting choice, you also could choose three or five flight wine samples (from a tasting list) ... but wait! Forget to bring food? No problem! The also provided yummy baguette and cheese ($10) or two baguettes, one cheese and one meat ($20). They served it to you on a slate platter, with the bread lovely and warm!! Perfect! Note: I know nothing about wine and will drink anything. This is one of the few wineries open past 5 on a Friday (Glass House is another). We came here for a glass of wine and it was delightful. We sat outside on a picnic table under the shade of a tree looking out onto the vineyard and mountains. On top of that, they had some great acoustic music from an older couple to keep us company in the background. It was a great way to spend a Friday late afternoon. The one thing that is somewhat a bummer is the location of the tasting room. I started coming here when they first opened. At this time they were in house on top of a mountain. The view was spectacular. At some point they moved a little down the mountain to another house. While not as good, there was still an amazing view. Now they are right off the road. Amazing views with OK wine. I personally didn't care for the whites - but several of my friends found something they like. They have three separate tasting options, an all white list, all red, and mix. Good deal too, I believe around the $7 price point. As with most VA wineries they stay open late on Friday's (until about 9pm) and had a live jazz band playing. Also they have a lot of cheese and meats to choose from to make a delicious board- baguettes as well. Dog friendly, both indoors and outside. They also had a food truck parked out front for more food options beside the typical meat & cheese spread. But the views! What a beautiful place to enjoy great wine! Grace Estate is located just outside of Downtown Crozet. There's plenty of picnic benches outside as well as seating in the patio. The winery is surrounded by mountains and vineyards- an incredibly relaxing and magical place! Service was AMAZING. Sarah and Brianna were awesome! Sarah was very knowledgeable about the wines and provided very good recommendations! We decided to go with the 2016 Rose based on her recommendation, and it turned out to be one of the best Roses I've ever had! The tasting room itself has a lot of seating area too, and the bathrooms are fancy. There was live music at night when we went, too! Overall, a fantastic experience! I thought they had some really tasty reds that were big but well balanced. What surprised me the most was their chardonnay which was truly amazing. It wasn't overly oaky and it had some delicious flavor notes (including a strong maple note which was delicious!). We ended up sitting outside with a glass and got a baguette and cheese to share. This place is so fun and beautiful! We have been here a few times for tasting. We also love coming here to just hang out, drink some delicious wine, and enjoy the gorgeous country side. I had heard great things about Grace Winery and went with friends to check out Fridays at Grace, which entails a live band and a food truck. They opened a new tasting room fairly recently, and it is super cozy and welcoming. There is a fireplace and all sorts of varied seating from a long table with benches to a couch. In warmer months, they also have a lot of seating on an outdoor deck and picnic tables on the lawn. Because we went during an event, the tasting menu was not available, so only bottles and wine by the glass were available. It was my first visit, and I would have liked the opportunity to do a tasting to get a sampling of what they had to offer. We ended up purchasing a bottle of Cabernet Franc to share. Another friend had said that it was the best Cab Franc she ever had, so maybe it was super hyped up, but I was not a fan at all. Mouth Wide Open was the food truck there that evening, and I would not recommend it if they happen to be there again on your visit. Another downside to Grace was that there was a huge fruit fly problem--to the point where we couldn't even stay inside without fruit flies flying at us into our wine. I really wanted to like Grace, but unfortunately, it is not on my list of wineries I would return to. read more

Had a great visit to Grace Estate this weekend. We appreciated how close it was to Charlottesville proper, and the drive out there is gorgeous. Parking was easy in the little lot right outside the tasting room. The clean, modern, and new space was inviting. There were plenty of tables inside and on the patio to soak in the great view. We opted for the mixed tasting of whites to reds and enjoyed our experience. Our server was knowledgeable, informative and friendly without being too pushy. The wine itself was all great - we really liked some of the deeper reds and bought a bottle of the Petit Verdot to enjoy after the tasting. We also grabbed a cheese and baguette for $10 and enjoyed both on the patio for the rest of the afternoon. Overall this was a great winery with a pretty setting, good wine and low hassle. A cheery "Hiiiiiiiiii!" from my server Brittany greeted me as I walked in their brand new tasting room. I admit I was a little bummed that the new building doesn't give you the sweeping views their mansion-based tasting room provides, but with a welcome like that it was hard to be upset. My tasting threw me off because this was one of the very few tastings where the nose and palate were so apart. The Cab Franc had a very peppery nose but tasted nothing like it; liked it a lot, but had a hard time identifying it as a Franc. The 2012 Vidal Blanc was also good but likewise slightly unusual. Crisp, fruity taste, fermented in African Acacia wood barrels. Never heard of that before, but it worked out well! Try to visit the mansion sometime; amazing building, great view, and a neat family history. The winding drive thru the vineyard is worth the trip... and oh...the wines are also good! read more

With bold, flavorful wines and a tasting room sitting on a beautiful estate, Grace Estate is one of my favorite wineries on the Monticello Wine Trail. Another great experience, and more confusion why the rating on Yelp is so low. It takes a while to reach the top of the hill (rumor has it they are building a new tasting room at the bottom), but it's absolutely worth it for the magnificent view. The estate house is as close as you'll get to a Virginia Downton Abbey, only with more outdoor seating and less British melodrama. The tasting room is in the bottom most floor of the mansion - I was surprised how small and intimate it was, with a modest tasting bar and a seating area next to a roaring fireplace. I was very impressed by the quality of the wines my girlfriend and I tasted. We tried eight wines for $7 ($10 if you want to keep the glass). The whites here are exceptional, particularly the Chardonnay, which had a very strong but elegant vanilla flavor to it, and the Le Gras Cuve, a while table whose sweetness didn't overwhelm the natural acidity and honey tones; it's a sweet wine that even those who aren't fans of sweeter wines can enjoy. The reds were all very strong and all consistently had flavors of dark cherry and wood/oak. The standouts in this bunch was the Merlot (this would go perfect with a cigar or steak) and the Le Gras Baril, the red table wine with a mix of oak and floral scents. The staff was very knowledgeable and welcoming and let us retry a few wines. Grace Estate may be one of the most underrated wineries on the Monticello Wine Trail. I appreciated the complexity of the whites and the boldness of the reds. If you're new to wine tasting you may find the flavors a bit overwhelming for your palate, but if you're more seasoned I think you'll appreciate the distinct flavors. Ignore all of the Yelp haters - Grace Estate is too good to skip. read more

I'm going skip my usual spiel about the beautiful location and cozy tasting room. The wines are okay. For the very first time, I didn't come home with a bottle. Just too expensive. For the price, I would like it to be a five minute conversation piece. I would usually host family and friends just to take them to different wineries in the area, but unfortunately, Grace Estate would be last on my list. I must say the land is massive. Great place to hold events. Not my events, though. My $$$ is better spent elsewhere. And if I couldn't be more less impressed, I have seen COPS run a speed trap several times. The COP car is parked way past the inside the entrance of the Grace Estate property. I doubt they're there for some wine tasting on the taxpayers' dime. Please ask cops to move to a public property or the side of the road. Or do some real cop thing, like, find the remaining missing girls. Please don't help them gouge me so they can reach their monthly quota; it's a HUGE disservice to your neighbors. More reason to avoid this place. read more

The winery is smaller but has a beautiful view. it was really tranquil and we picked a good day to go. We had a big table for a birthday, so that was really nice that we were able to get that. The wine overall was OKAY. Not bad, but not my favorite in Cville. I would go back again though because of the peaceful atmosphere. read more

Of all the times for which we have visited Grace Estates Winery, this has to be the most disgraceful. While in Charlottesville, we decided to visit them to view the new tasting room. Low and behold upon entry, we notice only two couples at the tasting bar with two independent representatives helping them with a third represnetative not doing much but walking around the room. We happen to be the only other couple in the establishment waiting for a tasting therefore to conclude they were busy is a far cry from the truth. In efforts to give the two couples time to enjoy the one on one conversation, I used the facilities. Upon exist, my wife and I move up to the actual tasting bar and stood there. Again one two couples doing a tasting with them having personal one on one communications with a tasting room representative. So we stood at the bar for approximately 10 minutes without any type of acknowledgement. Not one person said hello when we enteree, stood at the bar, or even when we decide to leave. Nor over the 10 minutes were tasting glasses placed in front of us. We felt like an inconvenience and more so invisible. Truth betold, no one ever said goodbye either. We left the establishment feeling as if we were an inconvenience and/or disrepected. For almost 15minutes, we never received a "hi, I will be right with you" or anything. This has to be the worst I have ever experienced from Grace Estates. Bottom oine: Good wines + poor customer service = business loss as I will not revisit their location. I hope others will visit with caution. read more

This is definitely one of my favorite wineries in Charlottesville and the surrounding areas. It helps that it is in Crozet, because I absolutely love Crozet! But really what I love about Grace Estate is...everything! It doesn't seem like a stuffy winery- it feels like you can wear anything and not be out of place. The wine is delicious, there are cheaper options (always looking for the lower priced wine bottles) and more expensive options. I love their house white (and pretty much every white I've tried there). On Fridays they do a music series and I absolutely love it! One Friday, they had a taco food truck (Morsel Compass) and Irish music- I felt that the mix of Mexican food, Irish music, and wine pretty much made for a perfect Friday night- I mean where else can you get that?! They have a great indoor tasting room area, a nice patio with a beautiful view (duh, it is Crozet), and a great lawn/ property area with picnic tables. I could really spend all day here! I'm so glad I stumbled upon this place a few months ago because I'm a huge fan! read more

Made a tasting reservation for a bachelorette party of 12, and Grace Estate automatically booked us the semi-private upstairs area. The perfect size for us to lay out a picnic and taste the wines. Loved that the six wines were different from each other. The main floor was busy (on a Saturday), but not at all overcrowded like the other winery we visited that day. Service was great--the man leading our tasting was nice and attentive. It was too cold/windy for us to stay outside for long, but I'm sure the deck area is great in spring/summer. read more

While on a wine tour with my husband, we stopped by Grace Estate to check out their wines. We were there relatively early (11:30ish) so we had the place to ourselves for a while! Even during covid times, we had the option to sit inside which we ultimately decided to do since it was getting STEAMY outside. Although not the most picturesque spot we went all day, the views are still beautiful and there is plenty of space outside to spread out if you are nervous about being inside. Of all the wines we tasted (we did quite a few- a white flight and a red flight), we thought their viognier was definitely the best wine there and one of our favorites of the whole trip. Even though Grace Estate is a little smaller than the other places we stopped, their wines were definitely the most unique and we tried some wines there that weren't even offered at other locations. We were actually driving by and saw the HUGE vineyard, one of the most impressive we've seen in VA and the big, beautiful house on the hill and just had to investigate! We pulled into the driveway and drove the entire length to that house on the hill and we also now very impressive that the owners provided such a long paved driveway, knowing that paved driveways are VERY expensive - Thanks for not making guests drive that far on gravel and mud! Upon pulling up, the parking lot was a muddy mess, but it was easy enough to drop our group off on the paver patio, park and come in. The tasting room is a small room in the basement of this huge house. The two ladies working the room were very rushed, even though there weren't too many people at the tasting bar. The wines tasted nice, but given the very loud tasting room, as there was a large group of college-aged folks in there, and that there was nowhere to sit, we just did a tasting and left. Because it was raining and chilly, sitting outside wasn't an option, but sitting outside, on the grass field on a beautiful, sunny day overlooking the valley below would be an INCREDIBLE thing to do, if we come back. This weekend we attend a wedding here and the scenery was absolutely spectacular! Honestly it was an incredible setting with the ceremony in the front of the estate and the reception in the back of the house with a tent set up. It was pure magic. The staff was great as far as service during cocktail hour and the reception as well as during clean up. Honestly this an affordable wedding venue you must consider. The views alone make it so worth it! I did think the reception ending at 10PM was a bit early and they could have extended the concrete patio into the tent.
