I Scheduled an appointment for 3pm for a power steering problem and my wife arrived a half hour early, then service person tells her that they can't look at the problem with my 4 Runner (that was purchased new from this dealership) because they are back logged, and the next available time was a month out. She took time off from work to make the scheduled appt and drove 45 mins from home for nothing. Again, we tried to give Fox our Business because it is closer to home. I had the worst experience of my life buying from fox ts. Nothing that was supposed to be done to the 2017 tacoma before pick up was done. Still a chip in windshield, never painted scratches in paint. They didn't even detail the interior...it was filthy. And this is after salesman Cody made us wait 2 weeks to pick up. Complained to sales manager who said he would pay for detail at a shop close to us. Never did! We will never again buy from them. Aggravation and disappointment that cost us over $30,000. i will begin when my 2023 tundra was leased, we agr to a price per month then went in 2 days later and payment was 65 dollars more a month. I showed them the agreed amount monthly via text message and after back and forth they agreed. Fit's year or a bit more things were good service wise then went in for second oil change and they charged me which is not supposed to happen but was late and wanted to get home so I paid then called. Took 2 days to return my call and then told me it would be a month before they could cut me a check to reimburse me? They did. July 2025 my truck had engine light on went in to have diagnostics done told me I had a bad turbo. Okay I said what is the timeline to have it repaired? I was told that it was a recall and Toyota USA haven't approved it yet. I understood that and was not happy but figured normal routine. I let them know that hopefully it wouldn't be to long because had a couple camping trips coming up g up with family and truck could barely pull camper. They told me I was on a list to be replaced/repaired. Had to cancel both trips and lose about 1000 dollars on reservation costs. Mid September get a call from them thinking ot was my trucks turn to be fixed, not the case it was the service department calling me to let me know that I had an engine light on? I told them yes I know, you told me I was on a list to repair. I asked if any update on where I stand on that list and basically got crickets in response. End of October got another call from service sept. thinking surely it is my turn to be repaired but nope another call to inform me that I had an engine light on? So I did not react as well this time and demanded I speak with somebody that had a clue. Talked with service manager no names yet and tried to calm me down and said we'll still running so they are dealing with ones that were already inoperabl. Not happy but understandable I guess. December rolls around and get went to dealership to ask more questions and was told recall is pending and I was on a list. Did not like this at all and told them I'm paying for a broken truck for 6 months and this is unacceptable, I chose to leave before I said something I regrette. January get a call from the sales department about ending my lease early and to come on and discuss options, i asked them do they know the background of this and I gave them a brief recap. I made an appointment thinking this may be a good thing and they may do the right thing for giving me the runaround for so long, but nope gave them a option and they said we can't help you and tried putting me in a Tacoma for the same price as the Tundra. The lease is through Toyota so I know what the buyout is and all that. Also told me to come back when lease was within a month of being paid then why did you have me come in to see what "we can do" for you? Last week I decided to call Toyota USA and wxplain to them the situatio. Toyota USA three way called the dealership and boy did everything change. My truck is being fixed as I right this review. My main issue is that they ran me around for so long and I was paying for a broken truck that had 3/4 the power it is supposed to have and with that engine warning features that the truck had will not work IE: cruise control, remote start and not to mention gas mileage went down significantl. I just feel I was taken advantage of for being patient. I work in the service field and customers should be treated better on the service side of the business as well as sales even though I know most car salespeople are trained to take advantage of customer. I had an appointment at 9 AM at the Fox Toyota Subaru on Grant Avenue for a wash and wax. When I made the appointment, I told the person that I was going to wait for my vehicle. He told me it would take about two hours. I got there on time, again, told the person I was going to wait for my vehicle. I waited five hours! It was a very hot day. Luckily, I found some shade and had water. They did do a very good job in washing and waxing the vehicle. They did not, however, clean inside the door. I know they had the doors open, because when I walked by, I saw it. They could have taken a cloth and just wiped the dirt away, at a very minimum. When my late husband washed and waxed our vehicles, he always washed and waxed the inside of the doors. read more

What a bunch of thief's my wife bought a new car and passed away 2 days later. When I turned the car in they kept $5000 . They said you can't get your sales tax back (you do when you buy anything else and return it) they must adjust the sales tax numbers and keep the cash. They kept the profit and the cost to under coat the car. I'm sure a dealer that keeps $5000 when someone dies will add the cost to undercoat when they resell. I would never buy from them again watch your back they will screw you too. read more

Please go somewhere else. I sat in the dealership for over 8 hours. I confirmed it was for a faulty fuel pump under toyotas customer service care with both corporate and fox toyota. I showed up at my 7.15am app. They said it will be done by 12. Next thing I know they didn't even have it up for diagnostics till way after 1.35pm. Was not getting updates on my vehicle I had to ask a few times. They didn't change the faulty fuel pump which they are required to by law, gave me all kinds of excuses. They cleared the codes said they couldn't replicate, said I needed to buy a new battery and sprak plugs before they would consider the fuel pump even though corporate said swap it out. Corporate tried calling but the manager went on an extended lunch brake for over 2 hours. Then they made me sign a 6 page document, didnt give me a copy. The copy they did provide had so alot of false info it wasnt even laughable. Saying my tires are cupped and thats the sound I am hearing from the fuel pump. My tires are brand new, claiming i need to change all these fluids and it went in for a full service only 20,000 miles back at anothet toyota dealership where all that was done that they listed needing changing. They also said bc I was there all day they would cover the costs. Well I woke up to a bill, not much but still. I called corporate again and reported them and they told me do not take my vehicle back there nothing they were doing is standard protocol. FOX TOYOTA HAS A TERRIBLE REPAIR SHOP. Recently took my 2013 Rav4 to Fox Toyota for a warrantied repair. Left my car on November 14th for a repair that should have been done in two (2) days. Sadly, on December 6th (3 weeks) my car was still not repaired?? Returned their loaner and the Service Manager, told us "Good luck getting it repaired at another shop"? Not sure why? they did not want to fix my car, but it is currently at another Toyota Dealer (Lebrun Toyota, Yea!!). The treatment so far at Lebrun is fabulous. Just called and had the rudest exchange with sales at Fox Toyota - she was uninformed about her products (didn't know differences between two models of cars), rude overall, and answered one question abruptly- telling me just to go online and use the payment calculator. Had a fabulous experience with Fox Subaru. My sales rep was very knowledgeable, and the internet sales person fielded calls regarding my purchase very efficiently. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a car, and not quite knowing what they want. They helped us discover the perfect auto for both our price and needs. We ended up with a 2013 after all, and are not sorry we did. They got us a LOWER interest rate than the already low 1.9%, and helped us figure out how many months we wanted to do this. I would recommend them for convenience from Oswego County (where we live). The drive to Fox is easy down 104 south to 34 and into the City of Auburn. I think it has got to be almost as easy from Syracuse, too. And, as I said, the people are nice. That makes the difference. They did what they had to, also, to get our 'deal,' without being offended by what we said we could do. My suggestion. Test drive a car with them, and then see how other dealers treat you. 8/6/19 - We picked up our new truck. The interior was so dirty that I had to clean it when I got home. Soon after, I noticed that the front right fender flare was separating from the fender. I called Fox and told them it could be fixed it when we bring it in for the 5000-mile checkup. 1/14/20 - Dropped of truck for the 5000-mile checkup and to fix the fender flare. We were told that the truck would be detailed also. I also asked that the engine be checked because it did not sound right, almost like a diesel engine. (tapping noise). 1/29/20 - We picked up the truck, it was not cleaned and the old dirty fender flare (covered with road salt) was sitting on the back seat. After we got home that day, we noticed that the fender flare was still not fixed and the engine sounded the same. I sent a photo to Tom/service and he agreed. Since we are 45 minutes away, I told him it would have to wait until the 10000-mile checkup. As for the engine, he said that they didn't hear any noise. 8/17/20 - We dropped off the truck for the 10000-mile checkup, an oil change, the right fender flare, and the engine noise. We were given a Subaru Impreza as a loaner. We need a truck. We purchased a truck for a reason. We were told that Fox Toyota doesn't have loaner trucks. Every Toyota dealers we have used for the past 20 years have always provided a loaner truck for warranty repairs. 8/25/20 - Tom called, he said mechanically the truck is ready, it just needs to be detailed and that it should be ready by Friday the 29th. 9/11/20 - Tom called and left a message saying that they want the loaner car back and taken out of service. I asked why we didn't get a call sooner if the truck was ready; he said he couldn't get a hold of us because they lost our phone number. Really, lost our phone number! 9/12/20 - We went to Fox to pick up the truck. We noticed the fender flare was still the same as when we dropped it off. We then headed inside to pick up the keys. Tom said the engine is normal, so we asked to compare the sound to another new truck. A sales person took us out to listen to another track and it sounded fine. We went back in and told Tom that we still hear a tapping sound. He did not hear the sound but asked a Subaru mechanic to come out and listen to the engine. The mechanic heard the tapping sound immediately and said it was a valve or lifter tapping. We decided to leave the truck for a Toyota mechanic to look at on Monday. When we asked about getting the right fender flare fixed properly, we were then told to drive the truck to the Chrysler dealer down the street where they have their bodywork is done and talk to them about it. 9/15/20 - Tom called wanting the loaner car back which seemed to be their biggest concern. He said the truck is ready but the fender flare was not repaired yet. When I asked what they had done, Tom said they replaced a pump which eliminated the engine noise and did the oil change. Steve told him to call back when the truck was ready. 9/16/20 - Robin from customer service called wanting to know how our service was. I explaining what happened so far and that we still don't have our truck back. She said she would speak to the service manager and call us back. No one called back until 5 days later. 9/21/20 - I received a call from Robin at 1:20, she said Tom was trying to call us and immediately put me on hold. I waited on hold for several minutes and no one picked up. At 2:28, Tom called again only to ask about getting the loaner car back, didn't mention our truck. I had to ask him if it was ready. Tom said no, but that they need the car back. I then asked to speak to a manager. Tom said he would have one call back. No one called back. 9/24/20 - Called Fox Toyota and asked for the service manager. Spoke to George and I told him that we are planning to pick up our truck on Monday the 28th whether it was ready or not. 9/28/20 - Arrived at Fox Toyota about 1:05 pm to pick up our truck. We inspected it before going in and noticed that the fender flare was still separating from the fender. We then started up the truck and still noticed the valve tapping sound. We went inside and asked for the service manager, George, who came outside with us to the truck. He looked at the fender flare and said that it was replaced, which it was, but still, not right it is loose, and there is a gap. We then started the vehicle, he heard the noise and his response was - we replaced a pump and it shouldn't get any worse. We then proceeded inside to get our keys and any paperwork. The paperwork was not ready, even though they knew that we would be in to pick up the truck. We waited 25 minutes for them to produce the paperwork. To their credit, the truck was finally cleaned. 10/2/20 I noticed that there is an oil puddle on our driveway. The bottom of the truck is covered in oil and still leaking from somewhere. Fox Subaru in Auburn, NY is adamant that there's no way for a brake pad to fall completely out. They say that it's impossible to drive a car without a brake pad. They also say that there's no way that they would let a vehicle leave without a brake pad. That's weird since nobody has ever worked on the brakes since I've owned it yet it is still missing. The only person that's even touched the tires is me when I change my wife's summer tires and rims for winter tires and rims. So I guess Fox Subaru thinks that I'm a liar and I'm just trying to get something out of the dealership. Surely won't be going back there for our next Subaru. read more

I wanted to express my concern about this dealership as my experience questions the integrity of the staff and dealership culture. After several weeks of consideration and communicating with a friendly salesperson, I decided to make an offer on a car. After a little back-and-forth, my offer was accepted on Tuesday and I placed a deposit to hold the car until I could see it and accept delivery later in the week. On Thursday, a different salesperson texted saying they took the car to the service department, looked it over, and wanted to install several parts. In addition. the price we negotiated was no longer acceptable and I would have to pay full price if I wanted to proceed. I reviewed the previous service records and discovered several of the to-be-installed parts he mentioned had already been replaced, some in as little as 3000 miles and a couple months ago. I expressed my displeasure regarding the dealership marketing a vehicle that requires work (if true) and negotiating a sales price without the service department first looking at it (if this was indeed the service department's first look at the car) considering the car had been on the lot for more than a month after taking it in on trade (again service departments are consulted to determine trade values). I complained that the sales manager would not have agreed to a price if the profit margin (my offer was several thousand over KBB average trade-in value) was not sufficient to cover repairs and dealer prep to which the salesperson responded he was only following directions from his service and sales managers. The salesperson said he understood where I was coming from and agreed to call me the following morning. He texted in the afternoon and said I have two choices, either I pay full price and they fix everything, or they accept my offer and do not make all the repairs. I asked several times for a diagnostic report so that I could verify the problem and was only presented with an inflated repair quote and a snarky comment "why would we do work on a vehicle that is not needed?" The real question is why can't the dealership provide a concise diagnostic of the problem(s) and accurate pricing? For instance, does the a/c compressor really need replacement or does the system just need a recharge? Is the complete replacement of the tpms system necessary and has the tpms sensors and module been scanned to isolate the cause of the problem? So, at this point I conclude that either 1) the car has serious mechanical issues that the service department cannot accurately diagnose, and they are going to perform service work irrespective of service needs and recently completed service and parts installations, or 2) they are trying to upsell me work that the car does not need in order to make money for both the sales and service departments. read more

I will never deal with Fox car dealerships EVER again. I bought my vehicle there and they didn't really work with me but I was desperate as my car died and I needed one ASAP. I love my vehicle but I am sure I could have paid a lot less elsewhere! I have a "Gold Membership" and am supposed to be able to get free inspections. What a ruse! They get you in there and then tell you that you need things that really do not need to be replaced. I was told I need new brake pads (which I really did), new rotors and that my calipers are frozen!! They also told me it would be $813.00 +tax to fix! Thankfully I have a friend that can do all sorts of work on cars. It turned out all I needed was new pads. The rotors were like new and the calipers were in excellent shape! I am happy that I have a friend that could help me with that or I would have spent $813.00 +tax on something that didn't even need to be done! I took my car somewhere else and passed the inspection, no problem. It only cost me $54 for the brake pads and hardware and $10 for the inspection. Way better than $813.00 +tax!! Hope you're happy Fox, you lost another customer! Well, many customers. No one in my family will ever go there again....Also, maybe you should respond to the complaints that people send you. Recently leased a car from Fox. Everyone was knowledgable, kind and interested in my needs as a car buyer. Their selection for the vehicle I was interested in was good. I especially liked that they were willing to work with me with regards to price. My previous experiences with car purchasing/leasing in this area have been more like take it or leave it but my experience with Fox was different. This is a terrible place to buy a vehicle and get your car serviced. I tried to buy a new car and asked them to give me their best deal. I was hoping to support a local business. I was clear...give me your best numbers because I've done my research and I have two other offers. I said I don't want to play a game. They quoted me $7-8k higher and wanted to negotiate. I immediately walked out. They contacted me two more times. I told them each time I took one of the other offers. Now for service, shame on me for attempting service there after the above experience but I wanted to avoid a longer drive. The four things listed below summarizes my two separate service experiences there: 1) forgot about me waiting for over two hours in the lobby (oil change only) 2) forgot to secure my hood - which I realized 20 miles later 3) when I asked about balancing the car after tire rotation and new back brakes, the guy said it wasn't necessary but it was clear that money wasn't a concern for me so I might want to consider it. Huh? Wow!?! 4) Put my appointment on the wrong day. Yep, then acted like I was in the wrong (I took the day off of work for it). I do not trust this business at all. Looked behind the door panel, all they did was put body filler and paint it. They refuse to help with a proper repair after this hack job they performed in order to make money. I bought a 2016 used car from Fox in Spring 2017. I went there because I was interested in the Honda HR-V's and they were one of the few dealerships that had one. I figured it was worth the drive (from Rochester). When I looked at the car initially, it was snowing and miserable (my mistake to go in that weather). It looked rather dirty inside with stains on the upholstery. Gabe assured me that it would be cleaned and it would look "brand new" when I picked it up the following Monday. When I showed up on Monday, they had trouble locating the car. When they finally brought it around (after several phone calls) , I told her it still looked kind of rough. She said, "no it didn't". She assured me it had been cleaned thoroughly. I took the car and drove home. The next afternoon while showing it to my brother, he pointed out damage on the inside of the passenger mirror (the one with the backup camera). When I called Fox to report it, they said it must've happened after it left the dealership because they would've noticed it. The damage wasn't visible unless you were sitting in the passenger seat, which I didn't do before purchasing. The insurance inspector took photos of the car the next day, and he missed the damage as well. The dealership refused to replace the mirror (though they did send a cap that goes over it, which won't attach to the broken bottom of the mirror). Now, I can't guarantee that someone didn't walk into my yard with a small saw and cut tooth-marked shaped cuts in the back of the mirror, but I would warn anyone buying a used car from this dealership to look at it from EVERY angle. And as for the cleaning? I recently removed all the mats to do a thorough cleaning and found sand and old french fries UNDER the mats. Now, dealership aside, I love the car so far. It drives really nicely and I'm getting good gas mileage. But I would caution anyone to inspect any used vehicle VERY thoroughly from this (or any) dealer. And if it's not right, make noise! read more

You often hear stories of bad, overpriced service at dealerships, but I don't think that is always the case. I've mostly had good experiences, especially with Subaru dealers. But Fox Subaru fits the stereotype of the corrupt service department perfectly. Last Thursday, my son was three hours from home when his 98 Forester overheated. We had it towed to Fox, and even though their mechanics were on duty for another two hours, he was told that no mechanic could even look at it until the next day (Friday). No big deal because it turned out to be a blown radiator, so they couldn't have fixed it that night, but had it been minor issue (eg., a leaking hose), it would have been nice had they taken the 5 minutes necessary to diagnose it and get him on his way. As it turns out, they didn't even look at it until Monday. One of their staff called and said that it would be $800, which included labor, to replace the radiator with an original Subaru radiator. When I noted that a 20-year-old car didn't need a factory radiator, she agreed to try to find a post-market radiator. She didn't call me back for 2 hours, so I found one on Amazon for $100, called her and we agreed that I would buy it and have it shipped to them. They got it Wednesday, installed it Thursday, and called to tell us that it would be $660 for labor and parts (when I asked, the Asst. Service manager I spoke with didn't know which parts the numbers on the invoice referred to). This seemed like a LOT, so I called my local Subaru dealer (Blaise Alexander in Williamsport, PA), who quoted me $400 parts and labor for a non-factory radiator (they said it was a 1.5 hour job). Likewise, a Google search reveals that 1.5 hours is typical, with a total cost of $300-500 (parts and labor). When I got to Fox on Friday, the bill was $666, $166 parts and $500 labor (4 hours). I asked about the charges, especially the labor, and the Asst. Service manager insisted that it was necessary to replace hoses, belts, and the thermostat. None of this "service" was requested or authorized by me, and in any case, there's no reason why it should have taken them 2.5 hours longer than any other dealership. He offered me 10% ($66) off, and when I asked to speak to the Service Manager, he disappeared for about 15 minutes and then came back offering to "meet me halfway" by cutting the labor charge to $324 (total bill $502). I decided that this was the best I could do and paid the bill. Reading their online reviews (which I wish I had done before I had the car towed there), makes it clear that my experience isn't unusual. No doubt they will comment on this review and ask me to call and give them a chance to make my experience more satisfactory. But I gave them this opportunity and the Service Manager refused to meet with me. You can dismiss this review if you like, but if I needed service in Auburn, I would push my car to another shop before I'd take it to Fox. read more

This was the worst experience buying a new car that I have ever had. I bought a new Camry XLE in April 2016. They were the closest deliver with the car that I wanted so I figured it was worth the drive. I bought the car and I had previously leased. They delivered the car with debris around the shifter, glue on the window. The salesman did not get in the car to show me any features he stood outside and told me how to pair the phone and said call if I had questions. When I got home and studied my paperwork they had charged me tax on my previously leased car which I had already paid. They insisted they were correct even when I had the paperwork showing the tax was already paid. They did refund the tax to me and sent me a coupon for a free detailing since they acknowledged cars are sometimes not delivered clean. Now 1 year later I was in an accident and the car was totaled. I knew I would go back to Maguire and it was a night and day experience from Fox. I also paid $2000 less for the exact same car which is 2017. So on top of all the things that didn't go well at Fox I now know I overpaid. Fox is rip off all the way around. Stay away from Fox! read more

Our experience at Fox Subaru was terrific. Even though we pulled in about 30 minutes before closing on a Saturday, Gabe, our salesperson, was happy to test drive multiple cars with my fiancé and help us get a deal put together that night. Fox Subaru offered us more for our trade in than other dealers we had visited and when a problem arose because it had been hail damaged, Gabe and her manager coordinated with the body shop and our insurance to make sure the deal could still go through quickly. Overall an A+ experience that only increased my fiance's love for her new Subaru! I highly recommend Fox Subaru and especially Gabe. read more

Awful experience from start to finish. Bought truck Saturday went to pick up Monday and the kid told me to come out at 10 so they could clean it (they opened at 8 and I had an hour drive) Got there at 10 and had to wait 2 hours for them to clean it!!! Then they didn't have the title so I couldn't get plates (ok with me), so he gave me the dealer plate and said he'd deliver my plates. He did a week later but didn't bring out commercial plates like I asked for several times!!! Now I have to take more time off work to deal with the DMV when that was supposed to be taken care of! To top it off they didn't give me a spare key and my car starter key fab won't work! Not stuff you want to deal with when you spend 30,000$. Pissed customer! Better off buying a car from a private owner than this dealership. You'd save money and do the same amount of head banging!! read more

One of the most stressful car buying experiences ever. I felt schmoozed, bamboozled and turned very which way in the most dizziness of fashions by Mike D. I asked for financial information on how much things would cost me monthly, after putting so much money down. I was told to do my math by hand, since he couldn't do the numbers with the 4 cars I was comparing to buy. When I questioned certain things on the pricing of the car, I watched Mike cross out a variety of figures saying I wouldn't have to pay... to only see that yes he crossed them out, but didn't alter the "total amount" where those numbers were already included in the total amount. I walked out feeling numb, with a headache and put money down on a car that I believed was a guarantee. Then the "switch & bait" situation occurred. Apparently the infamous "manager" couldn't get the car anymore, but they could get this "other" one . Overall, can't recommend this place or their tactics. As a single women, consider going elsewhere, unless you like to be manipulated. The only positive about this whole experience... I never have to see Fox Toyota ever again!!!! read more

I would tell everyone I know not to go here. The customer service sucks big time. I had two recalls on my vehicle. I called to make an appointment to have it fixed three days ahead of the appointment I had set up. It was set for 2pm. I told the lady that I will drop it off on my lunch break so that it can be worked on when they can get to it but I will need a ride back to work. I was told that wasn't an issue and that they have a shuttle service. I said ok perfect. So I called on the day that my car was suppose to go in the shop to make sure I had a ride back to work when I was told that they couldn't say for sure that I would be back to work on time. It could take 10 min or it could take 45 min. Now mind you it takes 12 min to get to the dealership from my work and 12 min back and I only get a 30 min lunch break. They then told me that I would need to take a half a day off of work to make sure that my car can get thru the shop. I had told the guy that I am a single mother of two that works 6 days a week. That's right 6 days a week and that this was my only form of transportation. He then says to me if I came in at 7:45am the driver can have me to work by 9am. Are you people serious! 7:45 am? My son has to be to leave for school at 8:30am and my daughter has to be to daycare at 8:45 am. He then ask me if I can take my daughter to daycare early. I told him no since I get help for paying for daycare she can only be there 15 min before my 9am work. He then told me that I needed to figure out a day where I can take off to bring my car in. I said are you kidding me...... I work 6 days a week in retail. Sundays are my only days off. I don't even get most holidays off let alone days off to just take. He was very rude and told me that they couldn't help me. And all I asked was a shuttle to take me back to work. Not to go shopping. Not to go to the other stores to pass time but back to work. These people don't care about customer service at all. Only the bottom line. Money in their pockets. So If you happen to go to this store you better have a lot of money or vacation time which by the way i don't get. To use on having you vehicle serviced. read more
