Amazing, random yelp find for a few friends who aren't familiar with Batesville. We questioned the location on the way there a few times but as soon as we pulled in we knew it was going to be good! Ordered for carry out 2 meat combo plate with slaw. Brisket and sausage. Brisket almost dry, sliced too thin, char not much flavor. Sausage only okay, flavor not smoky but maybe garlic seasoned? No sauce in the plate, not even on the side. Really?? You have to ask for sauce?? Slaw was decent, seemed relatively fresh. Wife had "loaded" brisket baked potato with fried mushrooms. Good size but was DRY with only brisket. Menu stated comes with butter and cheese, a LOADED baked potato should also have sour cream, bacon, and green onions or chives. Fail. Mushrooms ok but seemed like fried from frozen, breading not great. Would give zero stars if possible. A proper bbq restaurant should always give bbq sauce, a loaded potato should have ALL the fixings. Even if they're on the side, would have been better than none at all. Texas, Kansas City, and St Louis know what real bbq is. Get with the program folks. We like trying locally recommended restaurants when we travel, but sadly let down. read more

Ordered 2 Family packs of rib dinners to go, price with tax and $8 tip was $80. Got home and the ribs were bone dry, practically like jerky, with hardly any flavor, not even smoky. Thank god they included extra BBQ sauce because that was the only thing that made the ribs edible, as dry as they were. The cole slaw and baked beans were outstanding and the staff were friendly which was noteworthy so they get 2 stars for that instead of 1. Very disappointing experience. Surprised to admit that even cowboys BBQ would've been a better choice than fox river even though they don't allow you to dine in. Don't waste your $$$, go to cowboys or better yet smoke your own ribs and save $60 and know what you're getting. What a disappointing let down for a serious BBQ fan. This place is terrible! Ordered takeout and was awful! I ordered a LOADED potato with brisket and was totally plain but for the meat. Husband got 2 meat plate. Didn't get the toast it was supposed to come with. Ordered slaw and got two. If I didn't have ranch with my mushrooms, the potato would've been in edible. Also, it did not come with barbecue sauce of any kind. That's totally unacceptable for a barbecue place.! Wish I could actually give stars! Great atmosphere, amazing wait staff, and really good BBQ. The home made chips are a great side to the freshly smoked BBQ. They use cherry wood, so it's a different flavor than the hickory I'm used to back home. Still, great smoke job and really moist & tender. They weren't even listed on yelp when I tried to check in, and the place was quiet for lunch. This could be because they're well off the Main Street and you wouldn't know where to find them unless you looked. Still, all told. Great lunch and deff a place to checkout if you're in the area. Great little off-the-beaten-path BBQ joint! The brisket was seriously some of the best I've ever eaten. Nice selection of sauces on the table, including one simply called "pig". My favorite combo is "sweet & sassy" and "hot". Excellent homemade chips, too. The vibe is country rustic with friendly small-town service and prices to match! Well we came in at lunch and there was only one other couple in the place. Ordered fried pickles and unsweetened tea. Pickles were good and then we got our food. Should have left at that point. Salads were old rusty lettuce and translucent tomatoes. The pulled pork was either poorly made or old and reheated in the microwave. The smoked sausage was worse than what you can get out of a vacuum sealed pack at a grocery store. I ordered the "grilled vegetables" which were obviously taken from a frozen vegetable medley out of the bag and straight onto a flat top where they were scorched beyond edibility. Fox Creek BBQ has become, under guidance of the new owner, one of the best barbecue stops south of Kansas City. So far I have tried: Ribs- Absolutely fantastic, delightfully sweet. Pulled pork- VERY well done. Steak fries- pretty hard to mess these up, but paired with the variety of sauces provided I kept clambering for more. Went there on 9/2/21 for lunch. The place was about half full and we were promptly seated. The waitress brought our drinks and took our order, at about 12:05. Then we waited and waited and waited, for over an hour. Finally, when the table next to us(they came in 15 min. after us), got their order, we asked about our order. The waitress said ours would be right out. What she brought out, was not our order, however. She asked what we ordered and went to check. Seems our order got "lost" and they'd have to start over, no apology, no offer of discount or anything. We opted to leave and went to Hardies, as we didn't want to wait another hour. Me and my family came to town and it was advertised as a fun family friendly historic Restraunt. That was not our experience at all. We stood waiting at the door while the waitresses just looked at us from the bar like they were arguing about who had to deal with us. Got seated our table was sticky and had salt and sugar everywhere, not a huge deal we just kind of wiped it off. Then we noticed dead bugs behind the bbq sauce and we asked our waitress to move us and she was very rude and put us at a different table and gave us a different waitress. After we got our drinks we waited over 45 minutes before she even came back to get our order. And they weren't very busy. Most of the time we were waiting they were standing at the bar talking and hitting their vapes just blowing smoke in the Restraunt. We got our food and half of it was wrong and cold. We politely addressed it to the waitress and she just grabbed it off the table and walked off. We waited a while for her to come back probably 25 minutes and so I finally just walked to the bar and she had thrown the food away and did not get us the food remade and never came back to tell us anything. And still charged us for the food she threw away. We argued the situation for a while but the "manager" who was very rude also told us the owner was an ex cop and there was nothing we could do. So we counted it a loss and just paid our tab and left. The place is not family friendly. And there is not southern hospitality in this place. And the food is not worth the horrible experience at all!! read more

I got the 1/3 plate baby back ribs over the chicken(asked waitress for her recommendation). Ribs were barely ok. Four BBQ choices on the table, didn't particularly like any of them but went with Mild. One tasted like straight whiskey, Old No 75 maybe? JD reference I guess...with too much JD.
