What a great place!! The owners here are so nice! Family run, the husband was prepping food and his wife was slinging lattes and handling the register with her beautiful baby girl on her hip. Had my first Sweet Green Matcha Latte here and loved it! It's like a giant baby bottle for grown ups! Half way through and it's nap time! Awesome baked goods - quiche with local pork and kale only $3 and a local salad with strawberries and feta, again only $3. You could easily have a light lunch for under $10 here. This place is absolutely amazing! We are new to the area and after pulling them up on yelp, I knew I had to venture over and check them out. I was not disappointed! I was SO beyond excited to find they offered almond milk as a substitute and my kids were able to enjoy a healthy snack (hummus and non-gmo blue corn chips) while they played in the little kids area they had set up. This place is ridiculously kid/family friendly but large enough if you work remote and need space for your laptop etc that you don't have to be right next to playing little ones. Their foods is delish and they even had a gluten-free cookie option for my kiddo who can't eat gluten. Okay y'all. So this place is incredible. Me and my husband love stopping at coffee shops and trying them out. This place is one for the books. Five stars doesn't do their food and their coffee justice. We got the everything bagel, breakfast egg sandwich. He says they're good enough to make you smack your mama on the butt and raise a Hallelujah. My husband says we need to get an Airbnb sometime in this area just to get to experience it again. This is one of my favorite spots in the greater Asheville area; can't limit the scale to just Spruce Pine. All the food is made from scratch, locally sourced and in a word, incredible. The food and drinks were delicious and the spot was adorable. What really stole my heart was the baby changing station in the restroom. They offer not only diapers and wipes to parents in need, but also some baby clothes if your little angel gets messy. They just ask you drop off extras in the future if you can. Always amazing food and lattes! They usually have homemade quiche, cookies, bread, etc. Saturdays have more brunch options than normal, like biscuits and gravy, French toast... They also have milk alternatives, like almond, soy, and I believe coconut milk as well. They serve counter culture coffee exclusively. I've been here a few times and everything has been great. Yesterday I had fantastic biscuits, eggs, bacon, and grits. It came with a little salad on the side I first assumed was mostly decoration on the plate, but later realized it was a salad with some delicious little cooked tomatoes tossed in a dressing. My daughter had a veggie quiche and it was wonderful. She's not usually a fan of crust, but she ate every bite of this one. She took a cookie home for later. I'm glad this place is in Spruce Pine. What an absolutely perfect gem of a place! I stumbled upon Fox and the Fig while looking for a spot for a friend and I to meet halfway between Boone and Asheville. This spot was dead in the middle, so we gave it a try. What started out with the intention for a quick cup of coffee turned into breakfast and four hours of lingering in this beautiful little place. Their menu was largely comprised of local ingredients - for instance, my latte had was made with local grass fed milk (!!!) and the woman working the register also milks the goats, whose milk is turned into chèvre for the quiche, which was so rich and delicious I could have easily consumed another slice. Gluten free PB cookie to top it all off, yes please. The most friendly folks, beautiful sunlight streaming in the window, squishy vintage couches and chairs, expert baristas who carefully craft gorgeous drinks, all in Spruce Pine, NC! Who knew?
