    Walleye

Reservations are a must. There are not a lot of tables and the place was full when we visited on a Friday night. The open brick and candle lit tables provided a cozy atmosphere. Our table for 6 was well taken care of. Our server was excellent. She was helpful with suggestions of the menu. She was efficient and welcoming. Loved her. We each chose a different meal - love when that happens because it means the menu has so many great things to choose from, plus we get to share! I chose the walleye and it was the best walleye I've ever had. It almost tasted like a sea bass. Loved the combo with brussel sprouts. Fantastic flavors and textures throughout. We started with the apps of brussel sprouts and goat cheese spread. They were so good! Everyone loved their meal. We had an excellent experience. Hope to come back and try a new dish.

Excellent all around. Great service (thanks Tori!), incredible food, great atmosphere/decor. Love that it's a husband/wife team and they operate the whole place. Heard a bunch about the deviled eggs and were bummed they weren't on the menu, but everything was so delicious it just means we'll have to come back!

Our party of 4 arrived and we were warmly greeted and promptly seated. Our server was Noah, who was pretty young but was really professional. He was friendly, attentive and had plenty of energy. We ordered drinks which came out quickly and then ordered 2 appetizers, Brussels sprouts and the goat cheese spread. Both were excellent! All of our meals were prepared well and all were delicious. I ordered the scarpriello which is a pasta dish and it was excellent with plenty of chicken and Italian sausage. I'm including a photo. We drove 75 minutes to this restaurant and it was well worth it.

Our waiter (Noah)was knowledgeable and very charismatic, he had amazing suggestions. This was a nice find. We had the Black Truffle Sacchetti with Shrimp and The Lobster and Shrimp Risotto. Simply amazing. The flavors were very rich and the drinks were subtle. Would highly recommend!!!

    Fabulous cocktail and wine selection

Inconstant food quality. Atmosphere was pretentious with a hint of arrogance. Waitresses were amazing, however.

But from the moment we sat down, it was all uphill from there. The Italian wedding soup was excellent, rich, flavorful, and clearly homemade. The pizza was decent, nothing extraordinary but solid with plenty of cheese. We also ordered the lasagna, the spicy chicken dish, and spaghetti and meatballs. The standout was the spicy chicken: the "spicy red sauce" turned out to be more of a creamy, spicy blend, and it was fantastic. Everything came out piping hot, which I really appreciated. They also bring out warm rolls, and those were surprisingly tasty, soft, fresh, and perfect for dipping. Overall, I highly recommend this place. Despite the rough first impression, it turned out to be one of the best restaurants in the area.

Mike immigrated here legally from Albania and became a U.S. citizen, and you can taste the pride he puts into every dish--everything is homemade, even the pasta. I had the spicy chicken arrabbiata with Alfredo sauce, and it was absolutely delicious. The homemade garlic knots were mouthwatering, and the salads were fresh and crisp. My friend ordered the shrimp pasta and loved it. I also brought home two pizzas for my family, and they said it was the best pizza they've ever had! The service was excellent, and the restaurant itself is spacious with a great bar area. From now on, Mike's Italian Restaurant will be our go-to spot whenever we're in Baraboo. If you're in the area, give Mike a try--you won't be disappointed!

It was close to our hotel and online images of pizza and a menu with a variety of options seemed perfect for our family of picky eaters. When we arrived and I realized it was in a Radisson hotel, I immediately had misgivings. Nonetheless, we checked it out. On a Tuesday night it was dead at 5. Which is sort of understandable if they usually depend on a captive audience of hotel guests. Upon entering, a chalkboard displayed an alarming number of daily specials, from a wide range of food genres. I didn't expect fine dining, but a restaurant claiming to be Italian doesn't have taco Tuesdays. But we were there, so we gave it a chance. I ordered a cheese pizza to share with my 11 year old. Despite my advice to my teen that steak didn't seem a promising choice, she went for. My husband had a plain chicken sandwich. The order took forever to arrive, even though only a few other patrons were present. What the hell took so the long? When it finally came out, the pizza was shockingly gross looking. A puddle of grease on top of brown and orange cheese did not not seem very appetizing. A Jacks frozen pizza looks and tastes better than whatever this was. I ate a few bites and that was more than enough. The ceasar salad I had was initially visually appealing. The current outbreak of explosive diarrhea in the Midwest tied to salad made me cautious. I had my qualms. Frankly it wasn't good, but I ate a few bites. The plate was ice cold, so I imagine it was prepared in advance, which seemed odd to me because the restaurant was not hopping. Maybe the nearby air show explains the advance prep. I've never really wondered about salads being prepared in advance before, so maybe this one had just been sitting around in the fridge too long. My teen ate her steak and mashed potatoes. We love garlic, but man! That was a lot of garlic in there! Otherwise, the mashed potatoes were pretty good. She gave me a taste of her steak and it was not great. Flavorless is the word that comes to mind. She says it tasted like it had been reheated. My husband liked his plain chicken, but that's to be expected. He has very simple tastes and doesn't go for seasoning. The positives: I liked how quiet the dining room was. The large booth we were seated in was comfortable and the low lighting made it a relaxing environment. Our server was excellent! She ensured our drinks were always filled and checked in on us at appropriate intervals. She was also very sweet and pleasant . So shout out to Sweetness! You were great! She checked on whether we we're happy but I didn't see any point in complaining about the meal. It was a very, "it is what it is" situation. So, as a former flight attendant who was forced many a time out of necessity to eat at a hotel restaurant, I was actually kind of surprised by how bad it was. A cheese pizza is not a difficult dish to prepare. I honestly don't know how it could be made to be so revolting. The crust probably had freezer burn I guess. My husband said this is a national chain. Maybe other locations are better. They had a spot as a vendor at the air show, so perhaps it's just this location, but I doubt it. So, if you're reading this review to decide on where to go in this area, just get Culver's like we did the next night.

The restaurant, which used to be Gus' Pizza, with the pizza prep area in the front window, was reconfigured and remodeled several years ago. We sat at the bar and boards on the wall noted drink specials, food specials, and mocktails. They also had about 10 draft beers available. We ordered some garlic cheese bread, and I had a red wine while we waited for our pepperoni sausage pizza. If seated at the bar, you can order there, otherwise there is a station where you can order and then head to a table to wait for your food or wait to grab carryout. They had two double deck ovens, and were busy, but our service was attentive. The dining area was full early on a Saturday night with families and sports teams. Our pizza, with house made crust, and hand seasoned sauce had delicious flavors with a sausage nugget carefully placed on each pepperoni slice.
