Do NOT recommend for anxious dogs. This company has major problems with internal communication…read more There is also a complete lack of communication with me about changing the walker last minute, despite repeated requests and complaints about this happening again and again. When I first started with this dog walking company, I spoke with the owner Elizabeth who was very reassuring and seemed to have a process in place for getting anxious dogs familiar with their walker. We started off well, with slow meet and greets with our designated walker, and with a plan to start getting my dog familiar with her backup walker. However, after 5 months, they started sending a third walker without notifying me at all. I called and spoke with the owner, who again reassured me. However, this continued to happen, and I learned that our training plan for the backup walker was never communicated. I was redirected to the manager JC, who also stated he would get to the bottom of the issue and solve it, but they continue to send a different walker without notifying me beforehand.

Second Chance has been taking my greyhound Blade out daily for about 6 months now, and I have never…read morehad a better experience with a walking service. Those who own a greyhound or have any experience with a greyhound will know that they can be very sensitive dogs with particular personalities. Blade, while extremely loving and outgoing at home, has trouble meeting new people, and he generally has an anxious demeanor in new situations. This can make it difficult for him to bond with a walker. With Second Chance, that has never been a problem. The walkers with Second Chance have all understood how to gain the trust of an anxious, untrusting dog, and they make Blade feel comfortable and happy when my wife and I are out of the house. Judging from the pictures I am sent of his adventures every day, I'd venture a guess that his daily walks with Second Chance are one of his favorite parts of the day. A short anecdote to reiterate the level of love and care Blade gets with Second Chance: Greyhounds struggle with heat. It is very easy for a greyhound to overexert himself to the point of heat stroke. On a day it was 90 degrees outside, I received a text from the walker saying that Blade could only stay out for 15 minutes because he wasn't responding well to the heat. This may seem like a small thing, but to me, knowing that the walker is paying attention to my dog's needs and making sure his daily walk takes those needs into account is invaluable peace of mind. 5 stars simply isn't enough for Jill and Second Chance. I recommend them to anyone in the strongest terms.

Now, she is jumping in my car and begging me to take her to day care! They even have outdoor play time, which I think is an awesome added bonus! I feel like the price is good for the peace of mind that I am getting. I signed up for the bulk deal, which gives you a little bit of a discount. I wish they did referral discounts, because I wouldn't be paying for her daycare with the amount of people I referred there ;) All in all, I am SO happy that I found this daycare, and I am so happy that my baby has a great place to go when we are at work! -Zoey's Mom

We were repeat customers of Shipyard Dog. Before our young dog, we entrusted our elderly dog to the…read morefacility for daycare and boarding for several months before she passed away. We returned because we had previously had a positive experience. We appreciated the cleanliness of the facility, the convenience of the online reservation system, and, most importantly, we trusted them with our pets. Our young dog began attending at approximately four months of age, and for several months everything went well. This spring, we were told he had been "humpy and displaying dominance" during a previously scheduled boarding over school vacation. We immediately followed Shipyard's recommendation upon returning by temporarily removing him from daycare, having him neutered as soon as possible, observing the recommended recovery period, and even offering to pursue additional training if needed. After doing exactly what was asked, Shipyard accepted additional boarding reservations, giving us every reason to believe he remained an appropriate candidate for their program and that any concerns had been adequately addressed. While returning home from a recent trip, we received another message stating that our dog had "incited an altercation" and now needed to be removed from the facility for several months. This meant coming home and unexpectedly needing to start over in finding future boarding after relying on Shipyard Dog for our travel needs, which had recently increased due to a death in our family. After reviewing the 13-second video provided, I was left with more questions than answers. The footage did not clearly demonstrate to me that our dog was solely to blame for the altercation, nor was I given any objective explanation regarding the specific behaviors that led to that conclusion or what "improvement" would actually look like for him to return. From the video, our dog appeared increasingly overstimulated. He was open-mouth panting, sat down while several dogs continued to approach him, and rather than the interaction de-escalating, additional dogs continued to converge around him until a fifth dog approached him directly face-to-face, at which point he reacted. I was also surprised that there appeared to be no consideration of simply removing him from the playgroup or modifying his boarding experience, particularly given that he had been recently neutered, before deciding to dismiss him from the program for a "few months." The video also showed two playgroup monitors nearby before the interaction escalated. What ultimately led us to make other arrangements was the complete breakdown in communication. At no point were we told that our dog's place, even as a boarding customer, was in jeopardy despite accepting four future boarding reservations throughout the summer. When I raised concerns about how this was handled, I received no response. When you board your dog, you should be able to travel, even under difficult family circumstances, knowing your pet's needs are being thoughtfully managed. Instead, we were left worrying about unexpected behavior messages while traveling and scrambling to find new boarding arrangements afterward. I recognize that every facility has the right to determine which dogs are the best fit for its program. My purpose in sharing this review is not to dispute that right, but to help other owners understand our experience. I encourage readers to draw their own conclusions. If you rely on a boarding facility for travel, I encourage you to ask detailed questions about how behavioral concerns are managed, how much communication you can expect if concerns arise, and what alternatives are considered before a dog is removed from the program. Those answers may ultimately determine whether a facility is the right fit for your family.

I've been trying to get him here at least once a week, but may bump it up to two now that the weather is getting colder and the days darker. When I pick him up he's usually really amped from all the playtime, but after dinner quickly settles and chills with my husband and I on the couch - a tall order, as he is firmly in his angsty teen puppy phase. Weird aside, but I recently reached out to customer service to see if they've been cleaning him or spraying him with something before I pick him up, because he usually comes home smelling surprisingly fresh - I was told that nope, it's just the clean environment! All in all, this place is a great spot for your pup to get their socialization in and wind-up-toy energy out. I love that they know my guy by name (even if he's one of, like, seven Cooper's who visits), and I adore how happy he is to walk through the door each visit. Nice local spot filled with people who really care about their furry clients.

When I asked them if they can provide any insight on what happened, they mentioned he was playing rough and was relaxing by himself- my dog doesn't relax by himself when he's around other dogs, he's playful and his RELIABLE dog sitter calls him the life of the party. They did however confirm they saw blood on the floor but just assumed it was from another dog's urine-- WHAT! As a dog owner we all know when there's blood in a dog's urine it is watery, it doesn't actually look like blood! My dog had blood under his eye, an open wound and blood reside in his hair. His veterinarian confirmed it wasn't an injury playing with another dog.

The staff always sent one update through the app each time my dog stayed with them. This is a great daycare for dogs who love to play with other dogs. It's a pretty stimulating environment for dogs, and Ian acknowledged that. My dog did daycare there and boarded with them for a few nights. I would describe my lil dude as pretty human oriented, has separation anxiety, and fancies himself to be an escape artist. The staff always made sure to give him some special attention and managed him in a way that prevented him from jumping barriers during pick up. Honestly, he can sometimes be a PITA and wants all the human attention. I think that can be pretty disruptive at a dog day care (sorry Ian and staff!) Regardless, I was most impressed with Diamond (I think that's her name) is super professional and compassionate. She warmly greeted my dog (and I!) every time we came in when she was working and seemed to figure out the quirks of my pup. TL;DR- BDW is a thoughtful, safe dog daycare. Keep in mind not all dogs might love a dog day care environment. However, give Big Dog Walkin' a try, especially if your dog loves playing with other pups. I would try their dog walking services in the future!

One of the best things is that they offer free consultations for new customers where they come over to your house and meet you and your pet. Most companies charge for this initial visit. The pricing was not at all inconsistent and was very fair based on some comparisons I did before hiring them. $13 for weekdays, $18 for weekends, and $25 for holidays. Additionally, they didn't change who was coming to our house each time. It was always Jen and she did a fantastic job. Milo definitely got to know her and felt comfortable with her. The first time we left him he somehow locked himself in our room and pooped on our bed. Jen called us right away and even tried to clean it up as best she could. Ever since they've been consistently available to us, even at short notice and after every round of visits Jen would leave us a note telling us how Milo behaved. Donna works the business end of things and was always very quick to respond by email. They are flexible with the payment too. You can pay by credit card online or they can invoice you afterwards and you can send them a check. Now we're moving to the North Shore and I'm totally going to miss Heads and Tails! They've been great. I'd highly recommend them to anyone!
