As I was driving my 2008 Chevy Silverado into Kayenta, Arizona, I had 3 service lights come on at once, Service 4-wheel drive, Service Traction Control, Service Stabilizer. I called the service department at my local Chevy Dealer, and they advised me not to drive my pickup any farther and have the truck towed for service. I started arranging for towing through AAA, who provided me with exactly 0.0 options. Then I called the closest Chevy dealer's service department, Morehart Murphy Chevrolet in Durango, Colorado, for advice. That's where Keaton came in. He asked if my pickup was "hopping" when I made a sharp turn. I told him it was, just like when it was in 4 wheel drive. (The dashboard control did not indicate that it was in 4 wheel drive.) He checked with a mechanic, came back with the advice to take the Silverado out of 4 wheel drive. The "hopping" stopped. He then advised me that I could continue to drive my pickup home and to my local dealer for service. Thank you, Keaton! Your advice saved me hundreds of dollars and got me home for the weekend. When I arrived in Durango on the way home, I offered Keaton a generous tip which he could not accept, but I'm happy to thank him by writing this review. Customer focus is sadly lacking across many service industries, e.g., AAA. Happily that is not the case from my experience at Morehart Murphy Chevrolet.

The owner, Chris Anthony, was friendly enough upon first contact. he was responsive, seemed knowledgeable, and was excited about my build. But he has turned out to be one of the most unpleasant people I've ever had to deal with. We hired him in May, 2015 to do a $50K RV conversion job on our 2015 Mercedes Benz Sprinter van, with cabinetry, solar system, galley, shower, and bed frame. Our contract estimated completion at 6-8 weeks (42 to 56 days), and we made travel plans accordingly. Chris blew past the 8 week deadline with almost no progress, and because we had extensive travel plans, I told him I needed a guaranteed deadline or I would have to terminate. He agreed in writing to deliver in 87 days, then he blew past that as well. You can see in the photo we posted that at 94 days, the van had still barely been touched. Chris has no idea how to be professional or to provide any level of customer service or even basic courtesy. He was frequently disrespectful, irritable, angry, intimidating, dishonest, and verbally assaulted me on several occasions. His immediate response to any request was usually no, with a dose of negativity and rudeness. And worst of all, he takes no accountability for his mistakes. His own partner, Sean Peck, who took over for communication for Chris about six months in, readily admitted that Chris is stubborn and difficult, with anger, ego, and control issues. Chris repeatedly denied us access to see our van, insinuating that since it was on his private property we would be trespassing if we came without his permission. He continually misled us on the progress schedule, promising pending delivery while we waited a week after week, then month after month in ridiculous and intolerable limbo. Despite me keeping a constant running online Google spreadsheet of all the details for our build, he frequently failed to remember detailed conversations we'd also had in person. He would make errors, or make changes without consulting me, then later take no acocuntability and blame me for having a "sh*tty" memory. I did my absolute best to remain patient, tolerant, friendly, and hopeful throughout this process. I gave Chris more chances than he deserved. I listened to his angry tirades, trying to calm him down. I even brought him and his girlfriend a care package. But he just kept breaking our trust and letting us down. After 206 days, I'd had more than enough and told Chris and Sean I wanted to terminate the contract, settle up, and take my van as is. Chris refused, telling me I'd get the van when he said it was ready, and not before. I had to threaten legal action just to get him to agree to terminate the contract, and give us back possession of our van, with the van still not complete. Sadly, this past seven months have been a complete nightmare. We commissioned this van in April for summer travel and took incomplete delivery in November, already winter. After getting our van back two weeks ago, we've discovered more problems, mistakes, leaks, and issues that we now have to resolve with weeks more of our time. Mobius has not responded to my communication, or honored the one year warranty. We are currently pursuing legal action against Mobius Concepts and their business insurance. My advice to anyone considering hiring Mobius Concepts is don't do it. Chris is a complete nightmare to deal with. You're better off doing the work yourself. You'll save time, money, and stress, have control over the design, quality, and timeline, and get the build out you really want. Trust me!

We originally planned to go with Van Specialties in Tualatin, OR for a sprinter van conversion, got on their year long waitlist, then found Mobius. We based our decision to work with them based on discussion in a blog from a pro climber who he built a van for. He charged ~ +10% over Van Specialties prices, of concern given no proven reputation but the expectation was of a new custom builder willing to put in the time and effort to produce a top quality product. Oh so wrong. Chris talked a good show but after receipt of our 50% deposit we heard nothing from him for an extended period. Started to wonder if the shop even existed. We asked for images of work in progress. At first he refused but month or so later he delivered some close-up images of some small details completed. Seems he carefully avoided showing the whole of the van to avoid demonstrating that almost nothing was done. We signed a contract and paid a deposit with some details remaining TBD, particularly a bed layout plan. Chris had a compelling idea but never delivered elevations or other documentation of how the bed would look or function. I finally visited the shop outside Durango, Colorado both in hopes of forging a decent working relationship and to establish final plans. Chris didn't show up, but I spent a few hours with his partner Sean, seemingly a good guy but not empowered to say anything about potential costs. Chris took the revised, significantly simpler plans and, three weeks later, sent a change order revision adding over $20k to the price. In this was included substantial price gouging such as $4600 for a custom mattress and line item prices that were over double retail, with labor separately itemized. Recognizing there being no way to get a decent value even after the sunk costs of the deposit, we took the van back to have the work done elsewhere. In seven months since payment, Chris had done maybe 5% of the work. His project termination invoice charged us for over 50%. On arrival to pick up the van, work stated and items promised were missing. Much more to say, in parallel with the bad experience of Josh R's review, but repetition is unnecessary. There's nothing good to be found with Mobius, only a disdainful, scammer of an owner and a shop that isn't creating any value for anyone. I drove the van from Durango to Tualatin, OR into the shop of Van Specialties, spent a couple hours reviewing build plans (including, unfortunately, removal of some sub-par Mobius work), got a draft build plan by end of day, went back and forth over a few details over the next two days and had a solid confirmed plan by end of week. It ain't hard to see who the pros are, at better prices too. Great van conversion shops are hard to find; do your research, and don't touch Mobius.

On one of those trips, my 2013 Jeep JK's radiator basically blew up a couple of miles outside of Pagosa. I pulled into a parking lot and called AAA. While waiting for the tow truck, I needed to figure out where to take it and get it fixed quickly. I didn't want to have to stay overnight. I called my mechanic in Denver, and she recommended Best Rate Auto. I was surprised she knew anyone that far from Denver, but she had lived in this part of Colorado. When the tow truck driver arrived, he recommended the same shop, so that's where we went. I met the owner, Max, at his very busy shop at about 10am. He said he'd have a look and let me know what needed to be done. About thirty minutes later, he told me the radiator needed to be replaced and handed me a written estimate, which, based on my quick research, seemed very reasonable. He said they'd get started right away. At about noon I looked into some local hotels in case it was going to take overnight, and then I walked to a nearby restaurant for lunch. When I got back at about 1:15, Max came out to tell me it was ready. I honestly couldn't believe they were able to get the parts and complete the work that fast. I drove back to Denver over Wolf Creek Pass, and the temperature stayed in the normal range the entire trip. I can't thank Max and his crew enough. They didn't just save my day; they made my month.
