I walked into Big Trees Market at 6:50 PM last night (3/31) to grab a few quick items. There were…read morestill multiple customers shopping--completely normal. At 7:01, an announcement came on saying the store had been closed for one minute and to head to the register. Totally fair. I needed one more thing from produce so I hurried- another announcement at 7:02 said to "stop shopping- we are closed" I grabbed my last item and went up front. By 7:03, I was already being checked out. And yet the reaction from staff was... unbelievable. There were several employees standing at the front just staring at me--clearly irritated, like I'd personally ruined their evening. It was three minutes past closing. Not 30. Not 15. Three. Then it somehow got worse. They were out of bags (understandable), so I asked if I could use the hand basket to carry my items to my car, which was literally parked right in front of the doors to the store. I was told no, "these baskets cant leave the store"--and that I needed to go outside and get a cart instead. So I had to run out, grab a cart, and come back in... while the entire staff stood there watching me. There must have been 6 or 7 employees glaring at me with dirty looks like I had insulted them personally. The older checker was grumpy and rude, but honestly the whole team contributed to making the experience feel hostile and unwelcoming. I completely understand wanting to close on time. But if ringing someone up at 7:03 feels like a crisis to your staff, that's a management issue--not a customer problem. Also- why not sell reusable bags if you run out of bags so often? I would have bought one to make it faster for me to exit the store. Seems like a simple solution to avoid the extreme stress your staff is experiencing

It was conveniently located near gas stations and restaurants and our vacation rental. The people working there were very friendly too.

If you were to ask the 400 or so residents of Dutch Flat which drink they prefer, the overwhelming…read moreresponse would be Bud Light. That makes Abe the biggest Bud Dealer in the area :P - This store is the Lifeline of Dutch, when the snow hits, you better believe that Abe will be there, when the hunger hits, Abe will be there, when the Diapers need Changing, Abe will be there (to sell you the diapers, not change the baby) As a community, Dutch Flat would not be what it is without the Trading Post. In fact, I hereby decree that on your way to Reno or Tahoe, you are required to stop by Dutch Flat Trading Post and support the most important local business in town, Abe's. WE LOVE YOU ABE!!!!!!

I'm here to say the only bad one star review from I dunno who, but not listed as from DF should be ignored. ABE has been the only owner I have ever known in the past 18 years - he is dedicated to this town, to this community. The pricing is posted and more than fair - he is here rain shine or massive snow. If power is out he is STILL here to serve our community and he is well loved throughout. If you're ever lucky enough to see Dutch Flat and shop in this circa 1800's Trading Post - you will savor the experience, this little store and this historic town. 5-star all the way!

It reminded me of Sprouts, but much bigger and with a better bakery selection. I love grocery stores and enjoy wandering around looking at everything. I enjoyed wandering around Nugget. Spacious, clean, and great customer service. All produce was fresh and the bakery was well stocked with fresh baked bread. I wish I lived closer because I would be here every week.

The shop is set up in an interesting way where you enter through the produce section and snake around to the main shopping area. I thought this was cool at first but realized the way they have it set up to get back to produce you either have to go past the cash registers (which I think they don't want) or loop back around to get up front again. I typically like picking up produce last so it's on the top of my cart/basket so I ended up heading back that way at the end. The rest of the shopping visit was pretty typical and I loved the selection of items they had. I ended up picking up some cheeses, yogurt, noodles, and grapes during this visit. The prepared section did look nice, and if I hadn't already eaten lunch I would have grabbed something here. The staff member who helped me was friendly too.
