A neighborhood family owned and operated gas station. Their prices are priced for convenience--not a discount store--so when that is realized they aren't too bad. Their hot food has always been good and their service is as well. With the new competition of the other gas station (Chevron), their gas isn't as high priced. To say that the prices are inflated is an understatement. I do understand it's in the middle of nowhere and for us folks that live here in PL, this is very convenient. I've gotten some chicken strips and potatoes wedges for the kids a few times. They weren't very good but you know, kids loooove chicken strips. I'm an Amazon driver and I usually deliver in this area. I'm not sure if they got new employees but I tried to buy a water because I've been working in the blazing sun all day and the employee wouldn't let me use my Apple Pay. He kept saying I needed to buy more. I tapped my phone and the transaction went through but he cancelled it just to be petty. I just wanted some water and I don't carry cash on me when I'm working. Okay, so their prices a little high? Sure. It's a solo gas station along a highway in the boonies. Where have you seen low gas prices in this situation? I live in Plumas Lake. I seldom fill my tank here, but I will put a few gallons in if I'm worried I won't make it to Sacto. Is it the most expensive gas station I've ever been to? Not by a long shot! I spent more for gas near Grass Valley just yesterday. The staff there have always been polite and reasonably prompt with their service. They have good samosas -- best in town -- and good fried potatoes. Prices are good. I've called to place a food order over the phone when I have a few casual guests for a quick lunch. The food was hot and ready on time. They were very courteous over the phone and there was no confusion over the order. I'm okay with the place and with the owners/staff. read more

When this place first opened it seemed like a halfway decent place. Maybe a month or two later the prices all went up and service went downhill. I don't stop here unless I am nearly out of gas and even then I get $10.00 worth until I can get to Safeway in Rocklin. Some complaints...first and foremost, horrible customer service. No greetings when you come in. Blank stares when you go to check out. Never ask if I need a bag. No thank you for your purchase. Horrible customer service. But to top it off I found out that after buying soda there, 2 for $3.00 on several occasions they were charging me an extra fee for spending less than $5.00 on my credit card and I didn't realize that until much later. Also, when I purchase a drink and the clerk is hacking and coughing and then grabs my bottle by the cap that's kind of disgusting. Many times in the past I went to clean my windows while getting gas only to find the washer buckets never cleaned and sometimes full of pieces of dissolved paper towels. The customer service at this place is horrible. The gas is expensive and the pumps have network issues which require me to run my card 2 or 3 times before it's accepted. The window washing tubs are horribly dirty all the time and the squegees are in bad repair. I have them 3 stars because at least they opened a gas station in Plumas Lake. As we rolled in to this gas station, I had a strange feeling as though I was at a Chevron station. I really did think this! I say this b/c everything looked just like you would see at an actual Chevron. The only difference was "Plumas" plastered everywhere! Don't get me wrong, that doesn't hurt the review, I just find it funny. The location of this station is in the middle of nowhere. Very clean to say the least. I am one to use the restroom especially when I have been on the road for a long time and I was so happy to walk into this restroom without having to hold my nose or look at a bare wall where a mirror used to be! This place has hands-down the WORST customer service of any place ive ever been to. EVER. The way they treat you here is literally as if they dont want your business. If you try to make light conversation or even thank them and wish them a nice day, they literally ignore you every time and make it very obvious they just want you out of their building. They also frequently forget to give me change if its less than a dollar that they owe me. And last but not least, EVERYTHING they sell is EXTEMELY overpriced because they know that you have to jump on the freeway to get to the nearest grocery store and other gas stations. So, I logged on to Yelp to give this place a review, and I see that many, many people have given this store negative reviews. I'm not sure why. Every single time I've stopped in, I have received wonderful, friendly service. Today I decided to try some of their Indian food (I got the Butter Chicken and a samosa) and I'm happy to report that it was absolutely fantastic! Sure beats having to drive all the way over into Yuba City for the random Indian food craving. Are their prices a little high? Sure. It's a convenience store, not Walmart.....convenience stores have ALWAYS been expensive. Is the gas a little pricey? Well, yeah--it kind of is. But at least there's a gas station available in Plumas Lake for when a person might need one. The store is clean and they have a good selection of products. I see a lot of reviews stating that the employees are rude.....I've never seen that, but I'm a friendly person who doesn't enter establishments with the self-righteous, spoiled attitude that evidently plagues most Plumas-Lakers. Can you imagine how difficult it must be to maintain an upbeat attitude when customers repeatedly come in and act like they're some kind of royalty? I can't even give this place 1 star but I had to in order to submit my review. I was visiting a friend out there had stopped to put a little gas to get back to Sac. My 13 year old daughter needed to use the bathroom. About 45 min after the stop she realized she left her phone there. We went back. I stayed in the car while she went in to see if her phone was still there which it was because I have a tracker app. She asked the first guy if the phone was there and he said no one turned in a phone. As she started to walk out the other guy who had rung me up earlier said hey wait how much are you going to give me for your $700 phone. She looked at him and shrugged her shoulders. He then proceeded to ask her 3 more times until she was almost in tears and walking out the door then he gave her back the phone. She did not tell me this until we were already gone.
