I have no idea a how this place isn't rated at 5 stars. Seriously. It seems like it's your typical "awful waffle" but the food here is awesome. We've been here our last 3 days in town. Spaghetti, shrimp, chicken strips, chicken fried steak, pie...it's all been incredible. The best thing? Their cream gravy. Lawd have mercy. I'm a girl from the south and appreciate good gravy. Food is horrible. Shrimp was way over cooked. Club Sandwich didn't have any bacon on it.(It was supposed too). Salads were pretty much just lettuce and croutons. The lemon wedge that came with the shrimp was dry with cheese stucstuck to it and the was no cheese with any of our meals. Service was good. read more

Used to come here very frequently with my grandpa and had great food when Colt or Jennifer were cooking and always had great service from our waitress Stacey or Shelby. The prices were good as well. I moved back home a year and a half ago and stopped in expecting a great meal and the same service. Oh was I wrong. My husband and I were basically ignored for a half an hour after being seated. It was not busy.. there were 2 other tables of 2 people. We should have left but we really wanted some tomato soup. I went to the counter and asked to order and got attitude from a girl on her cellphone. We both ordered a bowl of tomato soup. We definitely noticed the increased prices! It arrived and was not even hot! I didn't even try to get her attention because I couldn't deal with the attitude again. We went to the counter to get the check and pay (of course the check wasn't brought to the table and we weren't checked on for refills or anything... the waitress cellphone and talking with other people was too important). Again attitude and a little laugh when I told her our soup was cold. Never again..I'm a tolerant, patient person but this young woman really tested that!! It's 11:00 a.m. Saturday July 1st. We're pulling a 5th wheel. People who have experience with RV's know the difficulty finding parking near restaurants. This place is right off the Hwy. There's a huge parking lot of at least 30+ spaces. 1 car was only parked directly in front of the restaurant and 2 other cars in the lot. We parked across the parking lot nearer the big rigs , not near the front entrance. Not in the way of anyone! The cook came out and yelled at my husband to "MOVE!! Don't park there! We need the parking spots!!" For what other cars, pray tell?! Nobody is eating at this place! Normally, we would never stop at a 3 star podunk like this! How rude and stupid can these people be chasing potential customers away! Of course, we left immediately! I've been eating at 4Bs restaurants for 35 years and have always enjoyed good food and service. Until my visit on 12/23/23. The food was good, the service not. Laura forgot my coffee which was not a big deal, it happens. We had an 8 hr. drive ahead of us so wanted to get back on the road. We stood at the cash register while Laura walked right past us to go chat with a co-worker. One of the other servers finally got her attention and when she made her way to the register I was clearly annoyed although I didn't say a word. She very sarcastically and rudely said "sorry you had to wait" to which I replied "so am I, we have a long drive ahead of us. She repeated the sarcastic comment and rudeness and as a final flourish, threw the credit card receipt across the counter. I worked in the restaurant business for 25 years and I know how to treat customers. Laura should learn how. When I told her she had walked right past us without acknowledging that we were waiting, she said she didn't see us. That is her job, to see customers and if she isn't capable of that she should find another line of work. I would change the green check mark under service if I could. read more

Food wasn't too bad. The issue was the server. When we came in she seemed to be more interested in her cell phone. There were two at the register that were both on their cell phones. We got seated and then told the server what we wanted. Then immediately she went back looking at her phone. They had the entrance to the dining area blocked off by chairs 30 minutes before closing time (8:30 pm) and were vacuuming the empty restaurant, but they cheerfully welcomed and seated us. The young waitress knowledgeabally rattled off the short (6 or 7 items from a pretty broad menu) that they were out of. Being food service industry people ourselves, we asked the cook what would be the least inconvenient things to prepare, and to his credit, he said anything at all . We ordered 2 orders of pot roast, sides were mahed potatoes, side salad and I chose Mac n cheese over coleslaw based on the waitress' recommendation. Food came out only warm, which is unsafe and why I give it 1 star. Food quality was 2 stars - Mac n cheese had barely anything on it and reminded me of 37 cent private label Mac from my childhood. Picked this off yelp while driving by. Homemade tomato soup (did not try, but locals were upset at the rumor that they ran out for the day). Hot food was hot, cold food was cold. Club sandwich was good. My ruben sandwich had firm grilled onions, gooey cheese (all Swiss) form crunchy the bread. The tasty on sourdough with ample portions and fries. Definitely a hidden gem. Yes, the decor is dated, but I'm not there as an interior decorator. I had the senior meal, chicken fried steak. That means a 4 oz. versus the normal 8 oz. serving of meat. Very good and the gravy was complementary for both the meat and potatoes. Salad was very fresh. The garlic toast was a bit of an anomaly that I actually liked. It had a hint of garlic and more of an emphasis on butter. My better half got the French dip with onion rings. Also cooked to perfection. I have bypassed this location many times as I was always under a time constraint. I will make time in the future. Most of the customers appeared to be locals, who were there to enjoy their meal. I did see one couple leave frustrated that they weren't being served more effectively and they stomped off. Their loss, but I get it. We happened upon this place during COVID late in the evening. I'd give them a 5 but they need to do a few repairs to the inside of the restaurant. They've got this award winning tomato soup that brought us back. I'm not even a fan of tomato soup. It's creamy and rich and it's the perfect way to start off a diner meal. The food is typical of a good diner and decently priced. Plus, when we walked in with masks on, the locals looked at us like we were aliens and we were instantly in love with the community as well. Not sure why the rating is so low. Stopped on our way from Colorado to Glacier. Our breakfast of eggs, bacon and pancakes was good. Not a good restaurant! We stopped in to have breakfast quickly in a rush to get back to Seattle from Montana. The staff was very nice. We walked in, and we told them we were waiting for someone and they acknowledged us and seated the people next to us first. After we sat down we were given menus and asked about drinks. We were given them with only a small confusion over mine. Which you could understand because our friendly waiter had informed us that we had came during the time of the fair. But we sat quietly and the waiter came around to the table once again. We told her what we wanted and she put the order in. She even engaged in a friendly conversation with us about the fair and given us the location. We were intrigued and decided to look up information on it. Only to know later that the cook hadn't even started on our orders. I fully understand the struggle of rush hour but to wait an entire hour on our food with a 10 hour drive ahead of us, is just insane. We waited a little longer to see if our food would come out but after a couple minutes decided to get up and leave and informed our waiter that we were going to go because of the wild inconvenience and let her know that it wasn't her fault and that we appreciated her. And we left without paying with the permission of the waiter. Overall... Unless you have hours to spend eating at a time, just don't come here. It's not worth your time. Literally. At least not during the two weeks or so that the fair lasts because it brings in a lot of company. We stay in Deer Lodge quite a bit, and 4B's is one of the place we go to rat at. It is normally acceptable, food, service, prices, cleanliness, etc.. But this morning we came in, it was a little busy. One of the servers sat us, gave us Iced Teas, and menus, and promptly forgot us! I can put up with slow service, or busy, but one thing I WILL NOT allow is to be ignored! We left 6 bucks for the Ts on the table and left after about 20 minutes and 3 other tables getting their orders taken. Ok this place is divey but the only reason anyone stop is for the tomato soup. It is the best, EVER. I always make a stop on my way to Missoula. I get the club sandwich and a cup of tomato soup. I love it with a million crackers crumbled in it. Then I get a quart to come home with me. It almost has a sweet flavor to it which is probably why it's so famous. The menu stated "fluffy" scrambled eggs, they were spread thin on the flat top and chopped....rubber pads not fluffy. Hash browns were not very edible, dried, crunchy and raw all at the same time. My sliced tomatoes we're fine. Staff was friendly and helpful. Two stars are for my food, I would give the staff five stars. We stayed at the campground directly behind this location and woke up late. Decided to eat at a restaurant instead of cooking at the campsite. Turned out to be kind of a mistake. The people were very friendly but the food was just kind of ok. I was surprised that there was zero 'social distancing' and the waitress even lowered her mask to talk to us when taking our order. She desperately needs a trip to her dentist. The wife had biscuits and gravy and crispy bacon. The biscuits were heavy, definitely not light or fluffy and ultimately hard to chew and swallow. The bacon was NOT crispy and had some raw areas. Everything was stone cold, but I've learned not to send food back for any reason. I had (forgot the name) (lots of) shredded potatoes and scrambled eggs in a plastic skillet with a couple small pieces of thick cut ham, sausage, and actual crispy bacon and iced tea. Half the ham was fat and had to be discarded. The sausage was tasty and well seasoned. The rest was dry and bland. Even salt didn't help. I substituted a couple of small pancakes for toast and jelly which were really good and larger than I expected. At saucer plate size, I can't imagine what the size of their regular pancakes are like. The tea was about about five minutes from being really good. There's far better out there, even the stuff I cook in the sun all day. All in all, given just about any other option, including McDonald's, I'd pass on this place. I was hoping for something along the lines of a Perkins. Sadly, they missed the mark. read more

I rated this place as highly as I did only for the food. Service sucked, however, I expected that from the other reviews. My liver and onions was amazing, totally hit the spot. The gal forgot my garlic toast and I was halfway done by the time she brought it. She sat it down and said she didn't know why it took forever for them to make it. Well, I heard her say she was going to "go outside" and while she was "outside", the cook called out the garlic toast. Hope she washed her hands before she grabbed my toast. Anyway, after she gave me the toast, she never came back to check on me, at least a half hour. I was busy writing post cards but I had planned on pie. At some point I said fuck it, and went to the counter to pay, where they had to scramble to find my ticket. Special (pot roast) was suggested. I ordered it, then they told me they were out of it. Server then suggested , as an alternate, the daily special omelette (after she previously told me she wouldn't suggest it). At this point I should have cut my losses and left. She then suggested the pork chops. Salad was a plate of lettuce with a carrot stick and four croutons, period. First pork chop was actually pretty good. Second one was very tough and inedible. Baked potato was fine. My server abandoned me after bringing my food. No drink refills, no checking on me, no service. So I was not able to tell anybody that I was unhappy. Our server Amanda was friendly and quick. Coffee never got cold in the cup. The omelets and eggs were prepared perfectly. The hash browns were crispy on the out side and tender on the inside. When we came back the second day Amanda remembered our beverage order from the previous day (I don't expect this during high season). FYI We always order dry toast so it isn't soggy. Four B's is the only restaurant chain I have ever found that can make good Liver and Onions consistently. If you like Liver and Onions (like I do), this is the place to go. Their creamy Tomato Soup is a specialty of the chain since it was originally started in the 1950s. Alway had great food no matter what I ordered at any Four B's, so they are much more consistent than any other restaurant chain I know of. It is good to see Four B's opening new locations after many year of closings of existing locations. read more
