My husband and I went here on Easter Sunday, we walked in the door and were seated immediately. Our server handed us plates and said they were doing a buffet for the holiday, they had 7 options of food. Bacon, sausage, potatoes, eggs, biscuits and gravy, a desert and ham. It was 11am and after one plate we were full, and asked to pay. We paid $70 for bacon and eggs. No prices were not listed, we were there less than an hour. Sad that we felt we had to pay that price, we still tipped 20%. The server acted like that tip was unfair and rolled her eyes, $70 for two glasses of water and bacon and eggs is crazy. read more

Understaffed. My family and I stood watching the single bartender and waitress for 5-10 minutes waiting to be seated. They never even addressed us - obviously specifically ignored us. Of course Philipsburg is a tiny, one street burb with not a lot of dining options. But this place filled the bill so no complaints! Stopped here after skiing on Saturday. Not a big crowd and service was a little slow with the bartender chatting up the locals when I first came in. Wasn't told about their specials but saw a sign outside so I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich. Best ever spicy chicken sandwich I've ever had! Chicken was breaded and cooked to perfection. Moist on the inside and crunchy delicious on the outside . Bun, pickles, lettuce and sauce only enhanced flavor. Fries were also delicious. Nice and hot, crispy on outside. I'm looking forward to getting back there next week and try out something new. I hope new owners are SUCCESSFUL. Great addition to Pburg. read more

Under new ownership. Second time eating there. The service was better, although the wine was a little skimpy and not a "Montana" pour. It took a long time to get our meal, relatively speaking. One doesn't expect a small, former mining town turned vacation destination to offer great food during the quiet off-season. But that's what we got at the Silver Mill on a Thursday in March. At 6:30 in the evening the sidewalks were rolled up and only the local brew house, a coffee shop and our restaurant were open for business. But chef Tony wasn't deterred. He had several delectable entries listed as daily specials, but my wife and I went with the Parmesan crusted halibut. Flown into Billings from fresh catch to Philipsburg and into the creative hands of Tony, we were served what honestly is one of the best halibut plates I have ever eaten. Other reviewers back me up on this. Also, the dinner salad was fresh and varied with olives, a mix of greens, carrot, cherry tomatoes and delicious Caesar (by request) dressing, which tasted home made. Which it probably is but I forgot to ask. And fresh baked bread to go with it. Nice. The only reason Silver Mill didn't receive five stars from me is the asparagus was only so so. But that is a minor criticism of a dinner that was just wonderful, overall. read more

WOW! What a gem! I've had steak in many places throughout the country; this is the best I've had. The service and live music went extremely well with my Oregon red wine. While it is a "fancy" place, tank tops and crazy kids are accepted. They also offer local brews. I'm so delighted to find this place. read more

This restaurant was all around amazing! The service, food, ambiance, and company was equally 5-star. I even got to try an off-the-menu sauce from the chef. I was in town for two nights and ended up going both nights. I can't decide if I liked the chicken parm or halibut better. I need to plan another trip to try more! If ya haven't eaten here you need to. The food is jam packed with flavor and the prices will not drain your wallet. With a full bar you are able to compliment your meal with any beverage you desire. Went here because of the reviews. Didn't live up to the raves on the fish. It was Walleye tonight. A pool of oil on my plate, and so it tasted oily as well. Rice good, asparagus as well. Had dinner on Sunday the 8th. Everything from start to finish was fantastic. The server and bartender was super friendly and both took time to visit with us. We had the homemade fried meatballs and wedge salad to start. I had the special which was chicken fried steak. The mashed potatoes and the steak with the gravy was the best I've ever had. My wife had the chicken alfredo. It had a rich cream sauce, lots of cheese, with perfectly cooked pasta. Both entrees were absolutely delicious! read more

The only reason I give this more than 1 star, is because .... wait .... I can't. That's it. How the hell I agreed to pay $26 for a bowl of pasta is beyond me, but it definitely wasn't because of the $100 bloody mary that was poured from a Mr and Mrs T's jug. Let alone, it wasn't made right (the pasta) .... yet, I had to point it out. I was billed at full price with not only one, but multiple mistakes that were made. My wife and I drove 2 hours to get here, and we would have been happier ordering Domino's at home, saving time and fuel, let alone the money. We had a great day visiting the town and checking out the sights, doing the tourist crap. But, we had to get out once we were done at this place. Day done. Aside from the crap service to the $26 bowl of noodles that couldn't be made right, these clowns don't even a changing table in either of the restrooms. God forbid you try to have a nice weekend day with your wife and baby, without having to rearrange a restaurants restroom in order to change a diaper. Definitely won't go back. We have a slum-dive casino down the street from us at home, that makes awesome food, and top-end bloody marys that would embarrass the hell out of this place, and charge less than 50% these jokers ask for. Three for three. Three fantastic meals over three years. Take the scenic route through the Pintlar Mountains and get a world class meal. You'll be glad you did. The equal of anything in Vegas, Seattle, Portland, or New York. And the entree will cost less than an appetizer in those places. Deep fried meatballs a must. Chicken piccata to die for. While staying in Philipsburg we avoided eating here due to the poor ratings, but on the recommendation from someone we gave it a try. So glad we did! We enjoyed an excellent halibut dinner! Won't go back because of the service. Some of the rudest waitresses I have come across. After being rushed through dinner, the waitress told us to leave because there was people waiting (she made it seem like we were purposely watching folks come in and taunting them with a meal they couldn't have. We were seated in the back and of course would never do that.) To add insult to injury, we counted 5 (yes 5) empty tables on the way out!!! Shocking! It's a shame because we have met the chef who seems really nice. Just don't think the servers like working and it REALLY shows. read more

Chef is trained in NY (not sure how he decided to live in pburg - witness protection) and everything is made from scratch. Best chicken parm I have ever had. The food was great. Italian dish for 2 will feed 4 people! Our experience with the waitress was strange... As soon as we were seated, she listed off rules that we had to abide by, and then she disappeared. She was abrupt and rude... Yes, we were a large party, and yes, your business added a 20% gratuity to large parties... but for that price your waitress should have paid attention to us. We had to go find her on multiple occasions to get service. My wife's order came out wrong with rice instead of a baked potato. When we asked our waitress to correct it, she said the kitchen ran out of potatoes. Funny, since we watched the next five orders that came out of that kitchen had baked potatoes on the plate. To top it off, the bill she gave us was $30 over what it was supposed to be. Not sure what that was all about, but the nice man at the register remedied it.
