Kathleen the funeral director gave me the task of buying her hair dye as well as giving me graphic details as to why the dress I picked out for her wouldn't work because it was too low cut and the embalming marks would show. I was mortified. On the day of the viewing and service she told me to get to the church early to "set up" the sign in book and programs. Shouldn't that have been her job? They quote you prices for service but the correct process is you should be given a itemized price list and you pick what you want. And not what color you burying the deceased for the casket you are suppose to pick the casket. Each item of service should be itemized with a price not the word included. Death certificates are 10.00 with the health dept and she charge 20.00 with no explanation of why. If any of the above has happen to you more than likely you've been overcharged and should contact the Funeral Compliance office in Tallahassee at (850)413-3039 to file a complaint. To be taken an advantage of in the time of a love death is the lowest but if everyone file a complaint this can be stopped. I filed a complaint. UPDATE: MY COMPLAINT WAS COMPLETED AND AFTER THE INVESTIGATION THERE WAS A FINDING OF 4 VIOLATIONS.
