Two very different experiences. We first used Ammen in 2023 and they were wonderful. They walked me…read morethrough what needed to be done to help coordinate a transfer of my loved one to another state for burial. They guided me through the entire process and were in communication the entire time. I knew when my loved one was in their care, when they were preparing them for their flight, I knew when they would be brought to the airport, I knew what flight they were on, I even received a text letting me know they had arrived safely at their final destination...everything. I will be forever grateful for the folks that supported me during that time. Fast forward to 2025 and it was a very different experience. A week after my loved one had been in their care, I still had not spoken to anyone at Ammen. I had to initiate communication at every step and I was never actually told when my loved one was flying/when they landed/etc. Additionally, I needed to track down delivery of the DCs, as we had ordered several but they were never shipped. The people I spoke to were lovely - but something changed significantly from 2023 to 2025.

The small cemetery is called the Houston Pioneer Cemetery and is the final resting place of John Caroll Houston and his wife, Mary Virginia Houston. The Houstons were one if the first families to settle in the area This is a very cool part of a very cool.part of this community. If you find yourself in the neighborhood, I would definitely recommend you check this small park out.

Rossetter Park is located in Eau Gallie next to the James Wadsworth Rossetter House which is now a…read moremuseum. Eau Gallie used to be its own town but in 1960 he joined with Melbourne. Angela who is the caretaker at the Rossetter House came out to speak to me and she picked up on my love of history. She recommended that I take a look at the park. According to a memorial I found, the park was dedicated in 1980 to its pioneers. It was the same year as Eau Gallies centennial. Imagine my surprise upon further exploration when I saw the park contains a small cemetery. It turns out another name for this park is the Houston Pioneer Cemetery and it contains the graves of the settlers from Eau Gallie, John Caroll Houston, III and his wife Mary Virginia Houston. Another memorial I found in the park lists the first grave as being from 1865. There is also a memorial plaque to Susan T, Edwards (1878-1972), founder of the Eau Gallie Garden Club. According to a bulletin board in the park, 12 members of the Houston family are buried here with the last burial taking place in 1910. The family includes two infant daughters whose names aren't even listed. On April 24, 2010 a study was done on the cemetery by a professor and graduate students from the department of anthropology at UCF. They were able to study the ground for all marked and unmarked graves. The cemetery map was created at UCF using the results of the ground penetrating radar. They concluded that they believed there were many unmarked graves but it can't proven unless the ground is actually dug up. How many people remain here may be up for debate but there is no denying that is a beautiful final resting place. The gate, live oaks dripping in Spanish moss, and the old fashioned grave stones give it a Haunted Mansion vibe. These old family cemeteries provide so much history on the people who came to make their fortune in Florida when it was a swamp swarming with mosquitos and there was no air conditioning. Their hard work laid the foundation for what is here today and they deserve to be remembered for their contributions.

Such a horrible experience that it has taken me over a year to write this review. My sister passed…read moreaway in November 2023 and I wanted her hair to be done for her viewing. Kathleen the funeral director gave me the task of buying her hair dye as well as giving me graphic details as to why the dress I picked out for her wouldn't work because it was too low cut and the embalming marks would show. I was mortified. On the day of the viewing and service she told me to get to the church early to "set up" the sign in book and programs. Shouldn't that have been her job? Horrible, horrible experience. I will never, ever use Ammen again and will never recommend them. They should be ashamed of themselves.
